Wayne County 18 Corbin 16

Final from Corbin.

Wayne goes ahead on a last second field goal.

Congratulations Cards!

Hate that for the Redhounds.

Sloan is good as advertised. Corbin managed to slow him down some. He still racked up the yards but he had to have over 40 carries to do so. I’m proud of our defense. A lot of things had to go right for Wayne in the end to win, give them credit because they made them happen. One thing about it, No one can question sloans toughness as a player. Several times mostly wine laid killer hits on him and he got back up. Tough kid any team would be lucky to have.

I had a feeling Wayne would win this one! But man what a game! Great job by both teams! Hopefully they both came away injury free!

Both will feel it tomorrow as it was a physical game, but no serious injuries to my knowledge. The rematch will be a great game too I’d say

Cards special teams come up huge! Rematch will be in Monticello. Congrats Wayne County, District Champions!

Awesome! Sounds like football as it should be!

Me and little CJM made the trip to Corbin and got our moneys worth.
Climate was not good for Slone or #13 for Corbin. Both of those players on dry fields are dangerous.
Slone is as good as advertise! Made a big time catch across the middle to win the game for Wayne.
Corbin is really good defensively, and defense isn’t the problem.. Corbin struggles offensively and not very good on the offense side. JMO
Wayne Co is not very good special teams.. although they do have a great field goal kicker

Yes they did!!! I kind of thought on that last TD Corbin scored we should have went for two but instead elected to go for the PaT. Came back to bite us. That was one heck of a game foe the fans to watch!

I'm guessing with nothing to play for and tough 2nd round matchups looming for both teams we'll see a JV game next week between the Redhounds and Briar Jumpers.
#15
Wayne Co punt team struggled and Corbin should have blocked two punts.
#9 for Corbin got ko and hope he is ok. He’s a great player.

I would love to see the stats on Slone and #8 for Corbin. #8 had 3 big time catches or corbin has no offense..
#17
Corbin last touchdown made it 16-9, Wayne blocks PAT
Extra pony was the correct call. If it’s not blocked corbin is up 8 which makes Wayne go for two..
#18
Nice win for Wayne.

Which they did anyway, right?

I wouldn’t bet any money on that, Haddix is way to competitive to just roll over for anyone...Congrats on the win, kids played their hearts out nobody likes to lose but it was a heck of a game, nobody was leaving early during this one....

WC went for two anyways. A two point conversion would have made it a tie game if WC made a field goal at the end.

I wanna say this, you can’t teach heart and #21 has a ton of it...phenomenal at getting yards after contact...I could watch the kid play all day long, if your a high school football fan he’s everything you’ve ever wanted to see on your team...

So Wayne hit 2 field goals, including the game winner, executed a succesful onsides kick (which is extremely difficult given the current rules) AND blocked a Corbin PAT but they aren't very good? Just imagine what they could do if they were even decent.

Those not very good special teams came up huge tonight.

Congratulations Wayne County this was one hell of a game. :worthy: Corbin offense needs to score more, Defense is ready for playoff run :Cheerlead and I need a new phone cover........................this one hurts
#25
Have u seen the #13 all year? Been w liability to us. Broke for a couple and maybe caught a couple passes but in the long run has hurt the offense

That may be. Then it will likely be one-sided. Somerset is banged up. I don't think you'll see many of the Jumpers starters make more than a cameo appearance.
#27
Wayne’s starting long snapper did not get to play this game.

Also, in addition to the 2 field goals, including an ice cold dagger for the winner, the recovered onsides kick and the blocked PAT: how many times did Corbin just give up field position rather than kick it to Sloan? All with a backup longsnapper.
#29
Both defenses came to play after being challenged throughout the week.

Offenses struggled to put the ball in the end zone.

We live in opposite world.

Great win for Wayne Co. program! For years that game went to Corbin because it was CORBIN.

Not tonight.

FWIW officiating crew was the best I’ve seen out of that region of officials.

Congrats any Cardinal I didn’t see on the field.

Honest question, if the roles where reversed would you have kicked it to Sloan and have him an open field to work with...especially when a majority of your starters are underclassman...
