It's the game, that both teams circle every year on the schedule. They both respect each other, but really don't like each other very much.
I correctly stated earlier in the year, that i thought CAL would be down a little. You don't lose a coach like LeFors, and a player like Wright, and get better.
this series runs in cycles, and I think it's about to sway back to Desales for the next few years. CAL has truly been a thorn in our side (especially Wright).
You can throw the records, and the rankings out the window. Both teams will come out hard, and it will be a very physical game. They always are. if the Colts front seven can dominate the LOS and make Sabitino throw the ball before he wants to then i like the Colts to roll. If they cant, then it will come down to the wire. I'll take the Colts by a cpl of touchdowns.

I think if I remember correctly that's the correct way to start a thread with a ranked matchup. You use the BGR rankings. CAL is down this year. But, they will give us they're best shot.

CAL rolls to their first of two victories over Desales and you can hear the roaring laughter from Log Mountain in the distance.

Bobcat forever they know we are ranked number 1 in the AP polls, they just believe the AP polls are a joke and that those voters mainly go off records.
In all seriousness I donât know much about either team. I know CAL is having a down year, but was this supposed to be a down year for them? All we heard about in Bell County when the new realignment came out is that CAL would be the clear cut favorite because they had every body coming back this year. Colt can you help me out on this one?

CAL could absolutely win Friday night, and run the table. They did lose to Mercer, and I don't want to take anything away from Mercer, but CAL has been dealing with some injuries. I can't state enough for you who aren't familiar with both teams due to us being new to 3A, but I could imagine some of our old 2A buddies can back me up when I say this is a pretty intense rivalry. I've said it before, mutual respect, mutual dislike. We have been each other's thorn in the side. In the last five years, we won two state titles, they won two state titles. DeSales is considered the blue collar hard nosed team from the South End, CAL the white collar elites from the East end. You kind of have to be a little familiar with Louisville to get the reference, but you get the jest of it. A few years ago some students from CAL put a picture of our guys coming out of the sewers to come over to their east end palace. That's the kind of rivalry this game is.

I think Desales should win but with the rivalry I am sure this is going to be a great game and will probably be close. Who other than Babin has been hurt for CAL? What major contributors did they lose other than Wright from last years state championship team?

Agreed but Wright graduating hurt big time. If he was back, any coach would look significantly better with him on the field.

Cal lost about 9 Seniors but many of them were skilled position players.
Babin scored twice and had a 171 yds for them in the Finals last year but he's been hurt much of the season.

Looking on KHSAA they return their starting QB and both leading rushers from last year. They lost their top two receivers but return their 3rd leading receiver. I know Wright was a huge loss but it looks like they return all their skill guys and majority of their line except for two receivers. When Mercer played them #33 Brandt Babin played the whole game both ways and Brandt Babin did not play. I thought their QB and receivers they have now were the best players on their team that night.

Iâll take CAL in a close one 21 to 18 sometimes a big rival will bring out the best in you To be honest though this game really doesnât matter itâs the second time theyâll meet that really means something
