#1 Bell Co 39 Rockcastle Co 6
#1
Final
#2
Congrats Bobcats. Bell County keeps doing what they need to be doing, winning games.

Bell looked good as usual, RPI will probably drop. Garrard next week who beat a winless McCreary, Rock RPI is low. Then you see PT and Desales playing each other. Win is great, but doesn’t hurt worse because of Desales record. Crazy system could drop Bell to 4th or 5th in RPI.

Actually went back up and we’re at #2 now in 3A RPI at .716

I apologize. Looks like so far tonight Bell is still 3rd in RPI. Could change, but still looking good.

6-0 and #2 RPI in 3A. Hanging in there. Garrard Co 4-2 has a winning record, so does Harlan Co 6-1. 2/4 games we have left.

How anyone thinks Bell is better than Desales is beyond me.

Me and the Pawn shop daddy went to Log mtn last night. To far to Hyden to watch our Jackets.
Bell high is for real and will make a very deep run in the playoffs. Bell has several play makers.. London, Jones, #7,#10 and #27 is a great back!!
The best team I’ve seen this year, beside Knoxville Catholic
#9
Rock is not very good offensively
#10
Congrats to Bell

Rock really give you all any trouble (low scoring for Bell), or just an early call off the dogs night? How's your kid that is injured?

Man I hate to hear that. I hadn't heard anything on here since I read he was injured a week or 2 ago.

Desales RPI is .675

Just because Desales schedule is much stronger than Bell’s doesn’t mean they could beat Bell. Bell will be rested and healthy for the playoffs. I would rather play Jackson and Estill than St. Xavier and Lexington Cath.

A high percentile RPI is a vital, as it is a wonderful addition to any team's depth, defensive prowess, offensive strategies, and has never shown to equate to any form of substantive predictive methodology, but, you know, tautology is bond to work, at some point in human history...

And I wholly agree with the sentiment of playing Jackson and Estill, over games at X and Catholic. What rationale person would want to play on the road, against talented teams, when you can just as well play exceptional powerhouses like Jackson and Estill? History, at all levels and perceptions, certainly proves that mediocre scheduling leads to ultimate, memorable success.

I mean, not in any social structure, athletic pursuit, or developmental scenario, but once you take those three empirical foundations away, thus making any argument a fundamental fallacy, you are absolutely correct...

The RPI for Bell will stay above other 3A teams because of the game value. They beat three 5A teams and regardless of how bad they are it helps Bell. Those 5A teams will play other 5A teams and this will continue to improve Bell’s RPI. The only way it will get worse is if they lose and there is no chance of that coming close until the 3rd round of playoffs. HC game value at the end of the year will increase it even more. This is what I took from reading the KHSAA site, but I never claimed to know it all or anything.

Bell will struggle when they face a team with speed. As do all teams. Bell has the stephney kid. Desales has 5 or six of those kids. Defense is gonna be the issue in the postseason.

https://khsaa.org/rpi-calculation-steps/ This should help explain the RPI if I did it correctly.

I really hope Bell County runs into DeSales so people can see just how important scheduling really is. And just how much playing top tier teams gets you better conditioned and better prepared when it really counts. You better hope Bell is rested and healthy if they run into a DeSales or CAL.

Not saying our schedule won't come back and bite us in the butt at some point down the road, but there's an awful lot of crow piling up if Bell can manage to bring home some hardware this year. Somebody's gotta eat it!!Confusednicker:

I will be the first to gladly eat that crow if it came about.

I just don't see what they have proved yet in terms of a being a State Contender.

Let them bask in their #1 AP ranking. We who have been on here for awhile all know how much of a joke the AP is. Their PA announcer can introduce them as the #1 ranked team all he wants. HOWEVER. They are going to meet a team in the playoffs that is or will punch them in the mouth. I don't believe that has happened with the pitiful schedule they have played. But when it does, how are they going to react? It's not the kids fault. They play the team that is in front of them each week. But a true hall of fame coach knows that at some point in the season you have to challenge your kids. You have to see how they will react with some adversity. Maybe i'm wrong, and the Bell County coaches are on to something. We'll find out soon enough.

If you look at Hilton's career opponents, there are a minimal examples of him scheduling substantial opponents; no examples of any team from Jefferson, Fayette, or Kenton; no to Belfry; no to the good Corbin teams; no to Danville; no to Boyle County.

There have been quality opponents in proximity to each of his coaching stops, but the man rarely opts to compete against teams that do not carry the "county" moniker.

I watched Bell against Whitley, and yes, Bell looked strong; however, the opposition does not provide a marker for capability. I am exceedingly interested in Bell's opposition once they reach 12-0, because, without question, the conclusion of three months of nothingness, is going to be an excellent experiment of defying the criterion that teams don't win big gold trophies, without competing against even mid-level competition.

When Desales has to come to Log Mountain and go home with an L we can talk about it over dinner at the Butcher's Pub. I'll be in such a good mood I'll buy.

Bell County will not host DeSales; the teams would not meet until the state semi-finals, and Bell is losing to whomever they host in the quarters. First good team Bell plays, takes them out; possibly by double figures.

It won't matter where the game is played.
