Who are Jones and Wilson? Not sure I seen and/or remember either of them playing varsity last season for Bell.

New year, new coach

True true!!!

BTW, I didn't say they lost two b-ball players to Pineville this summer. I said they lost athletes. But for the record, there are several kids on Pineville's b-ball roster who went to county schools!
#35
It’s been an epidemic losing some really good players to Pineville. Since Carnes and Lefevers left under Morris we have lost a lot Morris’s last few years and under Smith.

Jay tiger I don’t k ow where you get that from but okay. They could get beat at clay, but very few teams go into clay and win. They beat Jackson twice last year and this team is 25-35 points better than last year. As far as the two new guys not helping, your in for a big suppose. I’m not sure but I think Oneida will have the best two low post scorers in region.

Yes, I know. I thought I may have missed someone besides Phipps and Frazier.
I think it's gone both ways as far as players moving.

Who will play the post for OBI? I've lost track with all the moving around.

Jones is the receiver who was the 6th man in the summer.
Wilson was on the team last year - started in a JV game I saw against Harlan and was starting this summer at LMU.

Hall and Simpson

Bigmouth1953 Wrote:Hall and Simpson

Where did those 2 come from?
#43
You haven't been keeping up this summer Smile
Hall played quite a bit at Clay as a freshman. I think Simpson is from Georgia.
I believe both are seniors.

Both are seniors

I saw what Jackson done also when business time came down to post season play. But Anyways OBi ain't seen their best night they will beat Clay at OBI this season. And Hall and Simpson playing big in the paint is going to to be a force for 13th region.. Remember we ain't in Christian league play anymore. It will be a little harder to put up these 35 and 40 point games and 12 n 15 rebounds per game in the 13th region. Hall will be a good help n contender in the paint for the 13th but unless I've missed something on Simpson I didn't even see him get playing time at Clay n then he went to Red Bird last season n didn't even get off the bench when I saw red Bird play last season so I guess OBI makes a 360' degree turn around over summer play....Good luck OBI...
#46
Simpson wasn’t at red bird last year. He was at redbird as a freshman. From what I’ve heard from clay co fans halls been doing that to everyone on clays team since the 7th grade.

Your right HCS. I still have to believe Bell will be no better than 3rd in the district. Jones boy did play some summer games but has no varsity basketball experience.
#48
Just keep hoping for big things at OBI but Dec 2nd will show you the (True) factor and sum your season for Obi. It's a dreamer is a beautiful song..

Harlan County and Bell County looked very close to me in the summer. Harlan and Middlesboro both lost about six seniors each and will have to rebuild a little, but they could still be very competitive also with outstanding players like Akal and Eldridge at Harlan and Kyle and Brock at Bell.

Not hoping. Take your blinders off. This is a new coach and I promise nobody is out working him. The players are responding to him. This is not a typical Oneida team. You will see. If I were guessing I’d say that want win first game because it’s at clay. But it will be 5 or less. But will beat Jackson and redbird pretty easy. North I didn’t see this summer so I don’t know. Oneida will beat clay at home

Clay could spot OBI 10 points at OBI n still win 15 plus. Jackson county n North both will show OBI n new coach that OBI is still 4th n only leading by single numbers over Red Bird. will be the typical OBI same O OBI history for the last 10 plus yrs. The same coach tried it once at OBI n couldn't get it done so what's new this yr. He's got actually 4 or 5 seniors with a little experience at varsity level but still couldn't play defense on a average JV team but their going to dominate at Varsity. So the Bee has been flying around n buzzing that just a couple weeks ago or maybe a month that they where some old men came in with a couple young boys n beat the socks off of them n they still couldn't stop one kid from scoring about 30 then. So I guess their some excuses again right. Just keep singing and wishing that their going to beat Clay but u know it's not going to happen n quit being jealous.

I believe you mean Middlesboro for Kyle and Brock. Brock used to be at Bell(stop me when you've heard that before)! Of the freshman team Brock played on that won the region tourney three years ago not many, if any, are still playing at Bell. They don't even go to school there anymore. The guy who coached them isn't even there!!! That makes it tough!!!
#53
It’s been a bad run for Bell no doubt. I’m hoping the Coach Sizemore can change things for the better. We have had talent and lost a lot of it.

Yes, I meant Middlesboro
Everyone loses players or you'd have 40 on the roster.
I was at that tourney. Bell played well that day. South had a good team with Cromer and company.
#55
Most years we have been very good in freshmen and JV which adds to frustration as a fan. But hopefully that wil change.
#56
You will see. Seems like you are just bashing OBI instead of being objective. As far as the coach goes. He has a lot more support. This is a different OBI team and time will tell.

Cromer and 2 other starters was in the 8th grade the year bell beat them in the finals of freshman tourny at south so we aint even talking about bells same class they all graduated unless they had an 8th grader playing. cromer didnt play freshman as a freshman. I looked back trey brock was only 8th grader bell had on roster in 2015-16 and he is no longer there. so it was bells last years sr's plus brock that beat south in freshman tourny
#58
OBI is going to have to show something in the regular season to make me a believer. I can buy that they are much improved, but you're doing them a disservice putting them with the region heavyweights just based off some summer games. Hard to get an accurate gauge on teams during the summer when they are missing players, or giving 10-12 guys equal minutes (many of whom wont even be in the rotation come regular season).

Maybe Bell won it two straight years. The one I remember was at South, but I forgot Cromer was an 8th grader that year.

If everyone was being objective, no one would put that much pressure on a team that hasn't been a contender since the early 90s. Maybe this is the year, but I'd rather fly under the radar if I was them.
