Mayfield - Thank You
#1
.....for being who you are. A decade from now you'll remember the Friday the 13th of 2019. You're die hard fan base will remember my kid's name and how he played. Prolly more so than McCracken people. He walks away from War Memorial with a 1-1 record, 8TDs and 1 INT for 550 yds. Since 3rd grade he has worked his butt off to excel on that stage. Originally were at Lone Oak and started building what I thought could be "Mayfield-Like" under Haskins. You know how that story turned out - Consolidation making us a 6A school. Having to deal with metropolitan, recruiting powerhouses like Trinity and St. Xavier. Truly our fan base has never recovered. We generally don't have the attendance numbers that LOHS had and no were near the sense of community.

All that being said, essentially winning the Mayfield game was #1 on the list for our family. So now we focus on the best record ever at MCHS and the deepest playoff run. But I need you to WIN a state title and not tarnish our victory. It really is gonna take some Morris Magic. DL needs bodies and adjustments. Would Joe ever consider putting #11's hand in the dirt and bringing Stinson at LB for 3rd down stops? I promise you your secondary is FINE. It's was QB pressure that killed the backend.

Thanks Mayfield for making WKY football relevant. Never, ever let them consolidate your school.

Jackson I take your posts as a complement to the success of our program. Its nice coming from the big schools. We have been lucky to have had this level of success for a small school and I hope the Stangs have a great year and that we can fix areas that were exposed. We are not good at much but the football program is a source of pride for the community and that loss hurts we will recall that night for a long time. It hurts maybe more than usual because this should be a team with the personnel to do great things and we have a great staff that I hope can fix what McCracken exposed. I think we all saw signs of some problems but I ignored those signs figuring they would get fixed and I think they will. I cant recall taking a L from a team we were thinking we would beat happening but a few times over the years. Congrats, we will be back!

This was pure class and respect, and I wish I could read more like this today.

I could do without the backhanded coaching advice. Mayfield's coaches have forgotten more than you know. You beat them once and you think you have some pointers for them. And you don't need to worry about the "recruiting powerhouses" at T and X when you can't even get past Hardin County schools.

It's hard to be nice to Mayfield. McCracken County's players and students will have children playing there someday soon, then the bigger wins will start to come.

The salt is strong in this one.....

I didn't take it as backhanded coaching advice. He's pretty much said the same thing for 2 weeks. I saw it more as a way to work in how proud he was of his son. When my oldest son played at Tulane (see how I worked that in), I would find ways to bring that into just about any conversation. He has every reason to be proud and there is little question that we have areas we need to work on. No secrets there. We'll be fine. First two years we lived here, we lost to McCracken and I spent the first weekend of December in Bowling Green both times. Only difference is I'll drive to Lexington this time.

I hear you Walt, but that's not salt.... sounds and smells like a different word that starts with "s" and ends with "t". It's pitiful!!

I like the idea of #11 with his hand in the dirt. He is a great athlete but, LB doesn’t fit him. I certainly don’t think Stinson is the replacement tough. I don’t think he has said anything to bash MHS.

Everyone has an opinion and this is just a place to air it. I will take the first comment as a HUGE compliment to MHS with an opinion as to what might make this years team better. That opinion might ne correct might not be who knows until you try will never know. I for 1 believe #11 can play anywhere he puts his mind to and put forth 100% effort on every single snap. The coaches should know where he is most comfortable and effective as they are at practice every day. Most say Mayfield has greatest coaching staff in state or at least one of them so TRUST the staff get behind the kids support them and remember they are kids ultimately it up to them as to how good they want to be. After all it is the ULTIMATE TEAM SPORT!!! Play as a team, win as a team, lose as a team.

No one has even said anything about this situation, after the Tilghman win nthen having to play Mccracken then another rivalry game with Graves county this was a perfect trap game.If we were to b beaten this would be the game for us to let down after the win over Tilghman not taking anything away from the great game Mccracken played they whooped our tails im just saying our boys were relishing the Tilghman win and looking forward to the Graves game.We in the stands could tell by the teams looks that they werent into the game last Friday but they still fought hard.If we could have gotten a couple stops when we needed at the right time game might have been different.

Personally, I don’t buy that , MC is just better than us, that’s my opinion, and I’m sticking to it.
