Raceland @ Russell 8/31/19
#1
Thoughts? Predictions?

The game starts at 8pm Saturday.
#2
Russell in a close one if they can contain racelands perimeter speed
#3
This game will be similar to the Greenup Raceland match up. Raceland will improve alot from game one they always do. But Russell wont be coming off of a close and emotional rivalry game. Even on the road, I like Raceland by a TD or so.

Dang this is going to be a tough one 3A Russell at home . I’m still cheering for 1A teams :Cheerlead look for a low scoring game.

I thought Raceland would be a huge favorite before the Raceland/Greenup game but they're still a slight favorite until Russell can prove they can beat them. Russell's last win over Raceland was 2016.
#6
Rams by eleventy billion!
#7
Russell wins this one at home! Rams have a long way to go!
#8
Raceland speed will give Russell fits, Russell dl/ol will give Raceland fits should be a good ballgame
#9
I am taking Raceland
#10
This is a game I thought Raceland would lose coming into this year, after watching them play against greenup I going to stay with my original thought ...

Russell 28
Raceland 12

We will beat the Evils like they stole a pitch fork!
#12
Russell should win
They have more talent and I’ve seen both teams.
24-14 Devils
#13
I like the Rams getting a nice road win. But it could just as easily go the other way.

Devils lost 2 good DB’s to graduation. Getting pressure with pass rush and pressure is key. If QB gets the ball out to playmakers..they put bigtime pressure on your defense. Make him rush his throws and force his scrambles to the inside. Make them have to win the game on the ground. Sad that home field advantage is weak at Russell anymore...there will probably be more Orange than Maroon. Prayers for a clean injury free game
#15
Should be a good game. Raceland will be hard to handle as the season rolls on. GC played there butts off to stay in it I like Raceland to win by 10 or more points
#16
Raceland wins this one easily . Russell isn’t very good this year.

The way Raceland plays right now...no running game.... they will keep anybody in the game because they are very one dimensional! If you can’t pic up three yards by running the football it’s going to be a very long year

I think we need to have Cox in the backfield more for an actual threat at running the ball.

I don’t think it would matter if we put OJ back there!! Did you see how the line blocked?? They didn’t hahaha

Relax people! First game of the year. Quite possible we could be 3-3 after 6 games. We playing for November
#21
Well shoot....No need to play this one out.... Tomcat Pride has spoken 😕
#22
Early November maybe , if Raceland can’t run on greenup what do you think is going to happen against Paintsville and pikeville , they will beat raceland like they stole something

I'm not too worried about the rushing attack or lack there of just yet. In the past we havent had a passing attack like we have this year. I think the running game will take time to get going but we will be fine. We just have to adjust. This is not a C gap to C Gap Raceland run offense. Goina have to stretch things out more and utilize the intermediate passing game as well. Similar to what Williamsburg did their first championship game appearance. Just my opinion neway.

I love all the naysayers on here. Listen, I am on the sidelines and I know most of you and will say confidently I know more of what is going on. First of all, GC is dang good! Their line is better than anyone we have played in 2 years with the exception of Beechwood and Pikeville. Secondly, game 1 and you guys are already crying? We played way worse than Saturday in game 1 2018.

Raceland has to get much better but I'm not ready to jump off a bridge yet. If we are playing poorly in week 8, then I'll start walking out on the Ironton-Russell bridge.

Is it still called the Ironton Russell bridge ?? Hell no Doc I agree it’s game one! But needless to say our line has a long way to go before we can become the team we could be!

I think I’m the only Raceland guy going against the Rams but a lot of you Russell guys are going with the Rams! I would’ve thought most Russell people would figure this is their year to win this game!

I'll go with Raceland 24 Russell 17. I hope I am wrong though.

Agreed. After the game I was a bit concerned, but after watching the game again, then watching Belfry and the grid game again. I'm not so worried. We had a few missed assignments, but after watching things, we didnt exactly open the play book up very much. I'm falling back into being a bit more patience. Saw pikeville, paintaville, and Ncc tape. They are in the same boat as we are. Its week one, we all need to chill lol. Myself included. Maybe more so than neone.
