Pikeville was 3TDs better than NCC last year and returns a lot more than NCC.

With their new additions they might have the best team theyâve had since their last finals appearance.
Breathitt will be undefeated going into Mayfield game. Winner of that wins state

Nice looking top 3 right here in all polls- Only thing that I would change is Douglas #1 or Scott County #2 or flip flop. Not sure why many are picking Cov. Cath over either. Maybe because of the Mayer kid. Within the last 4 years Scott County is 5-1 against both(didn't play Cov. Cath in '17, '18 played Cin Moeller instead- Wow!) and I think both could have there best teams. PirateFan, that guess you made in 6A has been the same since the 70's so I think your guess is right- IMO those 3 you picked in 6A would beat the top 3 in any class- But I like your picks you know HS football

55, you made me spit up my Dr Pepper when you picked Trinity, St X and Male and wrote "just a guess". You really went out on a limb with that one. Oh, me, the things that get me tickled sometimes.. :thatsfunn
By the way, I think you nailed it in all classes, although 4a and 5a have 2-3 other teams that could make a case, Anderson Co, Central, Corbin in 4a and B. Green, S. Warren and Highlands in 5a..

Prestonsburg in the top ten in 2A. Iâm assuming that is a shot in the dark. I donât think they will even make the payoffs this year. No disrespect, just a very young squad.

😂 I agree with you about 4A and 5A being top heavy. 5A I'm just not that familiar with but 4A, I think it's quite possible Boyle County could run away with it like Mayfield will in 2A. I've seen the Rebels up close and personal. They absolutely have an All Star team. And if I'm not mistaken, they return about everyone from last years team. And that's scary! But anyway, glad I gave you a laugh today my friend! Lol

Thanks for the compliment friend. And to be honest, I really dont know much about 5A or 6A. I just did a little reading and research and just the little knowledge I have about the classes. No disrespect meant to Scott or Douglas. I'm just not that familiar with those upper classes. But I do my best. Lol

I think Breathitt County is absolutely a Top 10 team this year myself. And I also believe they have a ton of talent and will win their district. But unfortunately their in 2A where the Mayfield Cardinals call home. Not only them but Beechwood has relocated to 2A as well. The Tigers may have lost alot to graduation and are moving up from 1A but don't ever doubt that they won't be ready to compete and be one of the top teams when the season starts. Beechwood has historically been one of the winningest teams in Kentucky. They'll be ready to try to dethrone the Cardinals, but not likely, Mayfield is king of 2A right now. Then you have Somerset who are absolutely loaded as well and will be very very competitive. I agree with you about Breathitt on one point, they'll have a ton of experiance and the new additions will also help some but, IMO, they still won't be able to compete with the Top 3 in 2A THIS year. I believe, like in most classes this coming year, the Top 3 in each class will be where the trophy ends up. I'm not saying Breathitt won't have a great season, in fact I'm cheering for them, I just don't believe their on the same level as the Top 3 just yet. But back to your point, IMO, not only are they Top 10, I would rank them #4 or #5 preseason in 2A. Good luck to you guys this year and I hope the Bobcats have a great and injury free season!

I'm glad to see Breathitt Co back in the thick of things. Those guys were a handful back in the 90's and 00's, but, really fell on hard times the past few years. I'm sure there schedule was set up a couple of years ago and I would bet they'd like to have it a little more challenging with what they have this year.. Those 3 teams 55 talked about will likely have 4 or 5 non district games tougher than any on the Bobcats schedule, not to mention they have better district opponents, as well, so, there will be numerous games they'll have to play there starters all 4 quarters, whereas Breathitt will likely be blowing out there opponents and only getting about 2 to 2 1/2 quarters out of there best players. It's not an easy thing to go thru 12 or 13 games like that and then all of a sudden have to strap it on for 4 quarters against a team with equal talent. On the flip side, it could make them deeper as some younger kids get experience and are capable of solid contributions down the stretch and not just running a clock out minutes. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Agree 100%. Kentucky football is better when the Bobcats are winning and I think they'll be winning alot this year. I also think the blowouts your talking about will get you guys some second string experience that will vital come playoff time. Hey, it's high school football, anything can happen. And who is to say that Breathitt can't run the gauntlet and make us all eat crow? Its happened before, a few times!

I think it's more likely than unlikely. Our numbers are maybe 2A numbers right now, atleast boarderline. The economy has gotten better but not that much better. I would say that it'll happen. Heywood would rather play 3A ball but I just dont see him having a choice. Actually I dont see him being on the sidelines come next alignment, but that's just my opinion. After 2021, the Pirates look to fall on hard times on the Gridiron.
