Nothing but the utmost respect for Clay, and how close they came to beating the undefeated, nationally THIRD-RANKED team. Male had run-ruled their opponents in half of their wins (19 of 38), and this was only the third time all year anyone played them to just a one-run game. Brianda Owens, always very good, was sensational in the circle for Clay in the last month. Losing your final game, especially by one run, is always tough to get over, but this was a special group that proved high-level softball can be played in the mountains.

Extremely proud of these young ladies. Making the Final Four and showing without a doubt that they could’ve easily been state champions. Nevertheless, they’ll be remembered around here for a long time (as kids and through their high school careers).
