As far as I know as of right now only a couple middle school kids have transferred, but the rumor is that several key varsity players are just waiting until school is out and they are leaving as well.
First: is this even true
Second: Pulaski Co has been a power house in 5a football for several years now.Why would these guys leave all that tradition and their brothers to go play at their crosstown rivals?

I understand Foley is the new coach at SW, just don't understand why these kids would leave PC. I know Foley was a good middle school coach and yes Taylor won their regional championship( but how does that transition into leaving your Brothers and transferring to your crosstown rival,

It does if he coached them in MS and the parents/kids already have a relationship with him. That coupled with the fact that from what I'm told, those very parents are not hitting it off with Hines for one reason or ten.
It makes perfect since to me and I could have predicted this and I don't even have a dog in that fight.

So they don't like their coach! Ok. The PARENTS don't get along with Hines! Ok.
First off didn't Foley just do the same thing to his kids at Taylor Co? But that's ok ,he didn't do it to you right!
So the parents don't like Hines, but their telling their kids it's ok to turn their backs on their friends and brothers that they have played with probably all their lives.
Sounds to me like Parents need to stay out of it,and I promise you if something better comes along for Foley he will leave them too.
So you don't like your Coach,OK.I didn't like the coach I played for in highSchool either.Heck I didn't really care for my college coach either, but I LOVED MY BROTHERS that I did battle with all my life. The same brothers I would do anything for still today. BUT I guess in the days we live in today it's ok to screw over the people that love you..

the equivalent would be foley going back to taylor because he didnât want admin to hire marple .. hines only went back because hines didnât like foley it wasnât for the kids .. so you donât wanna stay your parents donât want you to stay but you stay anyways because people love you .. that makes a lot of sense .. kids wanna play for coaches and people who want to see them succeed .. kids will make friends anywhere they go theyâre kids

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just telling you what I've heard and what I think about the situation. We can all come to our own conclusion on wether it's right or wrong.
Personally I am in support of any parent or kid that wants to try and make things better for themselves.

I think the world of Johnny Hines and consider him a friend but heâs got problems that a message board canât fix... Its a different age now I understand what your saying if Iâd have told my old man I wanted to play somewhere else heâd have made me quit so I could work more around the farm to teach me a lesson and chastised me every chance he got but parents are different today Iâm not saying theyâre wrong just different and this is a prime example

I find it hilarious when people talk about brotherhood and loyalty then turn their back on friends because they transfer. Which one is worse? Putting on another jersey, or hating someone you once claimed to love because they did? They way I see it, one is worse than the other. True friendship is bigger than the jerseys people wear.

Let me say this I hadnât heard that Johnny only came back to Pulaski to keep Foley from getting the job, if he did heâs wrong. Kids want to play for the coach who is most likely to put them in the greatest spot to succeed in high school and after, arguments can be made for both coaches and I donât think it can be settled on a message board.

I don't remember anyone ever saying anything about hating anyone.Your just trying to turn this around on the other kids.Their kids, I'm sure they'll still be friends. The question I'm asking is how these kids can just leave their brothers like that.
For The previous comment where the guy says oh well their kids they'll make new friends, obviously you've never known true friendship and brotherhood that being part of a football team generates. Also I feel sorry for anyone that thinks your a friend of theirs.

If the kids are leaving they may have never truly bought into the team, if thatâs the case then all the superlative brother talk means nothing...theyâre kids theyâll have a different phone next week and different girlfriend the day after that....

I think everyone is missing the real point. We should be asking why are the players wanting to leave? I think everyone on here should look up a player who has played for hines and ask them how they feel now that they have left. Especially if that player is playing college ball or wanted to play college ball. I think everyone would be surprised. I think the reason they want to leave goes much deeper than anyone could imagine and they have to make a decision on whether they can hold on their brothers at PC and put up with hines or not.

I'm an impartial outsider on this one. I've always liked Coach Hines as a person and think he's done a good job as a coach.
That said, he has always had the reputation as being not very invested in helping his kids get recruited by colleges. I went to Somerset so I can't comment based on personal experience, but many of my friends who played for him at Pulaski have that opinion of him.
Could be a reason for some of the anti-Hines sentiment amongst the Maroon parents.

Unfortunately itâs an old school mentality that if your good enough colleges will find you and it couldnât be farther from the truth. However you would be surprised at the number of coaches that feel that way and some of them are considered hall of famers in high school football...

According to the PC Game Program, there have been 75 players sign college letters in the 20 years Hines has coached there. That sounds like he helps them pretty good.
05-20-2019, 11:07 PM
research those and see how many are NAIA and see how many are Division 2 or Division 1. Hines is ok with an NAIA program visiting when a player is a senior but I can think of at least 10 PC players who were Division 2 or 1 that are playing NAIA or have played NAIA or not played at all. I don't believe or at least I hope that's not on purpose but the rumor has been around for years that he has a problem with his players going D2 or D1. And this is just one of several problem areas the parents have with Hines. Hines messed with the group before this one and this group has learned.

Problem is a lot of parents think their kid is D1 when they plain and simply are not! Jake Johnson was probably the best high school receiver in the state in my opinion. He went to George Town witch is a great school, but he had opportunities to go to a D1 school he just chose not to. The Cox kid has several offers from D1 schools as well. With all the recruiting agencies out their if your kid isn't being looked at it's not always the coaches fault.I played my college ball at EKU and the only thing my high school coach did was put me on the field to play.My Dad took a bunch of VHS TAPES of my games and a film editor made a highlight film and sent it to coach Kidd. If parents want their kids to go to a D1 school then maybe they should get more involved and stop putting it all in someone else's hands.

Like I said old school mentality, some kids donât have the resources to get involved with recruiting services. If your involved in coaching it should be to see kids reach their full potential. After what Iâm hearing Jake Johnson not playing D1 football maybe a prime example of the disconnect with some parents and might be why the Cox kid is constantly rumored to be going elsewhere. If a kid works his tail off for you and puts in the time it is in your hands to make sure heâs in the best position possible when he leaves the program, some parents just have no clue how to and some parents could care less, should the kid get screwed over because of it?

Not helping and blatantly hiding interest of schools to the kid and his parents are two totally different things.
Some of you are choosing not to listen to what is being said and instead defend the coach or give excuses. Either this story has merit or it is all harsh rumors, either of which is not good news for the PC Program.

Seriously, that’s some straight horeshit....Why would you do a kid like that?
05-21-2019, 03:34 AM
i know for a fact that when a college coach comes in to PC hines does not communicate with the player or the parents of the kid the coach is asking about. FACT. i find that very concerning. I agree that its not hines job to get a kid recruited its the player and his parents. BUT why would a coach not communicate to the player or the parents when a college coach visits and asks about a kid. I personally believe recruiting services are a rip off-so we agree on something. I also know Cox is not using a service don't know about Johnson
05-21-2019, 05:17 AM
It may not have been a coaches job ten years ago, but it is today. If youâre not about the kids first then you should get out of the business. If youâre not doing everything in your power, as a coach, to get your kids looked at by as many schools as possible, then youâre not about the kids first. Itâs on the kids and parents to make the most of those looks, but itâs on the coach to make sure kids get looked at.
05-21-2019, 03:06 PM
PC coaches are now contacting SW players trying to get them to transfer over according to a few of the SW players. PC would never..? 🧐🤔
05-21-2019, 03:09 PM
I know for a fact that there have been kids that had college coaches visit PCHS and the kids and parents not know about it until months later.
This point is really not even up for debate IMO.
