What does anyone make of the 2 seeds drawn? How far will they go? Who will they face on the journey? I'm a football guy and really don't know much about some of these teams

Should blow out Abilene Christian pretty easily. Seton Hall has Myles Powell who absolutely killed us when we played them back in December, they have a lot of athleticism and is guard heavy but can't beat UK without Powell going nuts (again). Wofford has a bunch of guys who shoot above 40% from 3 point range but they have no chance of matching up with us on the interior. As long as UK can avoid a single player making 8+ 3pt attempts against them, they should be on to the sweet 16 if they play to their potential.

UK will play nobody until Elite 8 and that's IF North Carolina makes it there.

Unless Calipari does something to blow it, UK has an easy path to the elite 8. Who knows after that. I'm not sold on UNC being a 1 seed.

They will struggle with Houston I think.

I would agree if our defense wasn't so good but outside them hitting 12+ 3's, I just don't see it happening. We will destroy them inside.
But we should've beaten K State last year too...so?!?!

IMO that second round matchup May be tougher then expected. If Wofford advances iâll be a little worried. We struggle to guard the 3 point line and Wofford has a lot of quality 3 point shooters. Fletcher Magee has made the 2nd most 3s in Division 1 history so if he gets hot we could be in for a disappointing night.
I am hoping that losing to Tennessee and getting bumped from the 1 seed will cause us to play with a chip on our shoulder. Hopefully this team plays angry and aggressive.

Wofford is unathletic and nowhere near our talent level. If we lose to them, I'll never watch another UK game EVER.

I can see losing to the likes of a Houston or Wofford or UNC but I like our chances

Interesting stat: in the regular season, Kentucky was 19-1 when holding teams to less than a point per possession, but were 7-4 when allowing more than that.
KenPom.com ranks Houston 14th and Wofford 19th, so the metrics support them (UK is 7th). CBS' article ranking all of the NCAA Tournament teams has Houston 8th and Wofford 18th (UK is 6th).
I've seen Houston play a few times by virtue of just being in the area and think that they are the strongest three seed. Houston Chronicle has been reporting that leading scorer Corey Davis is getting hip treatment after an injury in the conference championship game, so that could become a factor. Analysts point to their tendency to put teams on the free throw line as a weakness, but Calipari teams do have "that" stigma and I'm not really confident in anyone on our team other than Herro or possibly Quickley is at the line. Kentucky has shot 74% from the line on the season, with Herro going 79 for 84, good for 68th in the nation. Take away Quade Green's 17 for 19 from the line and that drops to 73.58%, good for roughly 82nd or so.
I think UNC is the weakest of the 1 seeds, but Viriginia may have more of a mental block because of last year, especially if they get down early-- they simply aren't the type of team that plays well from behind and their style lends to plenty of high leverage possessions as is.
If Kansas weren't who they are in terms of tradition, they aren't a four seed. Auburn, however, is probably more dangerous than they are; keep in mind that Auburn played Duke extremely close earlier in the year.
I'd rather see a rematch with Seton Hall in the 2nd Round than rolling the dice with running Wofford off of the three point line as horribly as we've closed out on perimeter shooters at times this season.
Iowa State has been a top 25 team for portions of the season, but are coming in on a bit of a skid. They have offensive talent though and could be a sleeper who gets hot. They wouldn't be the best of matchups for Kentucky given how well they shoot the three, but their biggest challenge against Kentucky could be keeping the Cats off the defensive glass.

Wofford shoots the ball very well and we struggle guarding the three, Houston athletic and talented very dangerous if they make it to the final 16. North Carolina is rolling right now and should have beat duke. If Kentucky makes it to the final four they have a chance to make it to the final as long as Virginia isn't who they are playing. Virginia doesn't choke again they will be extremely hard to beat because they also shoot the 3 ball but also play very good defense.

PJ Washington is in a walking boot today. That makes things different.

Said 99% sure he is fine just precaution but are they telling the truth or trying to deceive

I love the way PJ plays the game except for one thing. Anyone can get in his head, and then he completely takes himself out of the game. He needs to mature just a little bit more.

Now he's in a hard cast and ruled out for today's game. It's all deception, he may never play another game in a UK jersey as far as we know.
03-21-2019, 06:33 PM
If PJ is out, we may not even make the sweet 16, i'm completely deflated about our chances now. No one gets put in a hard cast as a precaution, he's done.

Shouldnât matter tonight, might matter Saturday, would definitely matter any game past that. Hard to imagine a scenario to beat Carolina without him if we got that far.

He is NOT done.

He’s out for Saturday against potentially a team that has beaten us this season already.

Personally, I'd rather see the team that beat us once, which would likely guarantee that we are motivated, than the unheralded small conference team who has played well all season and shoots enough threes that their getting hot makes you nervous.

I think weâve seen the last of PJ, and I donât think we will beat wofford without him.

I don't know how reliable that report is though. He didn't travel with the team to the game but came on a later flight just so he could see a foot specialist.

Things that scare me about Wofford besides the obvious of PJ likely being out for the game.
1. They shoot the three like crazy and if they get hot. Sheesh
2. Kentucky sucked at times during the year of guarding 3 point shots
3. Whenever Kentucky loses, it’s normally because one dude decides to have a career night and #3 for Wofford is definitely capable of doing such.

I think he will be there when we need him. Hopefully Nick Richards plays as good as his trash talk.
