Whitley County
Cattleman’s all in his feelings.. someone needs to go to his safe space and breathe for a second.
Cattleman Wrote:Back when this staff was upgraded with all the last years coaches Corbin posters bragged about how good it was. Posted many times. Now that 3 have left , one that has packed Haddix since he has been there and two to Whitley it is NOT near what it was. Whitley’s can be considered better but if you say that it is laughable. Let me share a laughter with you, 90% of you losers living in high school and wearing you Red Puppy shirts everyday. Can’t wait to get home from work to read this crap because you don’t have anything better to do. I do feel sorry for some of you.
Go Colonels ! Confusednicker:

Corbin lost three coaches. One was great, he went to the board. One was really good, he went to Whitley. The other was mediocre and will not really be missed. He was Demoted last season to basically a JV coach and didn’t do a very good job with that. I know that’s the one you’re related too and you’re butt hurt just like he is. You’ll both get over it though and Corbin will move on and continue to improve. The guys I’m hearing were hired are great coaches and will do a phenomenal job. Tommy will be missed but there was nothing that could be done about that. I think Coach Lewallen will do a great job as the DC though. I can’t wait till August!

I didn't realize he was mediocre and thought Corbin loved him, but I don't know anything about him.
Finally someone tells the rest of the story.... Cattleman’s kinfolk had been demoted a few times since Haddix has been here. He gets talked to pretty straight, dot like it and gets his feelings hurt, tells a bunch of people he was fired. Not at all true! No pity party and he lands in Whitley. He had applied for several head jobs including Whitley, Middlesboro, Russell, Great crossing, etc. Wasn’t he demoted and basically let go as a asst basketball coach too? Sounds like a work ethic issue to me. Is he a good guy, that loved Corbin? Yes! Good luck!
We lost a great coach in Greer! No Doubt! We are gonna miss him. But that was set in stone already. The other 2 were mediocre in my opinion. Wayne obviously the better of the 2. But he is a headcase obviously. Guy Lewallen is a younger, excited, motivated version of Greer.. Experience and great results will come with time and hard work.

All the Corbin coaches are wayyyyy overrated, and mediocre at best Confusednicker:
They are the best around when they get them and mediocre when the leave. Sounds like Corbin is ruining good coaches.

Whitley County will start getting some of their players back that Corbin stole. All they need to do is create more free or low cost housing Confusednicker:
First we need to get Cattleman and PJ a script of Butthurt meds that are refillable thru August. Should be plenty of clinics from Danville to Barbourville that will prescribe something that will clear you up!

^ This comment is mediocre at best. Barbourville????
Colonels on the Rise!
Cattleman Wrote:Whitley’s staff may be better than Corbin’s as they stand now.

I agree hands down. No B.S.
Careful, it is only ok when Corbin says they have the better staff. But you are correct.

Like it’s only ok for Boyle to say they got the better team right?

I hope Whitley does good in every game Smile. Seriously Whitley County has a long way to the top but right now they are moving in the right direction and already improving.

Along with the previous coaching staff, aren’t the seniors the reason the program has dropped off the last couple years?

You got a long way to go. Do yourself a favor, don’t be a guy that puts all the blame on the players.
UCfan1 Wrote:Along with the previous coaching staff, aren’t the seniors the reason the program has dropped off the last couple years?

One thing at Whitley seems to be staying the same when all else fails blame the kids...
The Whitley County program is doing just fine when Corbin fans whine about their locker room Confusednicker:
Lack of experience for the colonels last year. They lost a lot of players over the last two years that meant a lot to the program. 9-3 district champs and district runner ups the year after that took corbin to the wire.. so you tell me players aren’t the reason? That & Frazier leaving killed them last season. Didn’t have much of a defense & had to out score people.. players transferring it’s hard to have a good season with players & coaches leaving. I don’t blame Frazier for leaving had a better job & better for his family. Coaches shouldn’t get all the blame though it’s a mix of both. IMO

And that’s what I’m saying. Who else is to blame besides the coaches and players when a team has a bad season? Does that mean they didn’t have the talent to compete with good teams or will there be more excuses used?
Whitley district the past 4 years has been the weakest in the mountains..

How bout the administration, yes they’ve seemed to turn it around and make some excellent hires since then but running Frazier off might be one of the most bone headed things I’ve ever seen...why do you think the kids started to quit and transfer.
Coming from the weakest team in the mountains the past 4 years.....

What is the district record the past 4 years and i will show you at least 3-4 worse than this one.
Does Whitley have a buncha cross over between baseball kids and football kids?

Are the colonels hitting the weights and working winter drills?
I agree with that to a extent. If I’m not mistaking Harlan county made it to the region championship year before. Whitley/Harlan ran with Pulaski that made it to state in 2016. Usually the top team or top 2 end up competing or making a run. This year the district was down terribly. By far the weakest this year. But last couple years it was ramping up. So you’re going to tell me corbin didn’t have a easy district? Who did they play exactly in district? Bell county had a good season, but they were mediocre. Corbin swept the floor with them. Not taking anything from corbin they are good. They had the weakest district for multiple years. That don’t quite have nothing to do with how good a team is or how they should be.

They are hitting the weights hard.
