Good win for Estill, Iâm hearing that a coach left the bench during game & went into stands causing a bad situation. Game stopped & teams sent to locker room before game could resume?
02-20-2019, 06:50 AM
Heard that he was grabbing female spectators, caused several Estill fans to get thrown out.
02-20-2019, 07:32 AM
Which side was the coach on?
02-20-2019, 10:02 AM
It was one of Owsley coaches. He was the only person that should have been put out of the game.

Two people were tossed not several.

Itâs a sad day in high school sports when a coach can come off the bench go into the crowd and verbally attack a fan. He should have been ejected from the game. What a great example for his players
02-20-2019, 05:23 PM
Some more clarification on this, a lady from Estill, was telling Owsley's coaches to sit down, that's when they turned around looked at her that's when the ref's stopped the game and sent both teams to the locker room. A woman and man was ejected from the game.

Apparently the coach that went into the stands is the actual sheriff for Owsley County/Booneville.

I think the coach told her to shut her d*** mouth. Iâm pretty sure she was yelling a ref that that was a foul

Then that's uncalled for. I wasn't there, I didn't get off work til 8 just going by what I was told which is by several diffrerent people and you know how that goes.
But I did hear that the coach that went into the stands was the sheriff for that county.
I had also heard that some fans was telling Owsley County's coach to sit down. Not sure if any of that is true or not just what I was told.

Iâm sure that happens at lots of games. He should be coaching his team and not worrying about the fans. I pretty sure the âsheriffâ did not have a badge or uniform on.

He didn't have his uniform on because he's an assistant coach for the girls team.

She was told to support her team and enjoy the game but to calm down.
The coach is the girls assistant and also the Owsley County sheriff. He was assistant coach before he took office in January, so he continued to do it. The reason he was not in uniform was because the girls game had concluded and the boys were playing. But he went into the stands with his deputies to try to calm the situation and had every right to do so. Evidently the lady had been shouting at the Owsley bench for much of the game, telling the coaches to sit down and shut up, using some unnecessary language along with it. She also told the deputies and the sheriff to âget out of my faceâ. She was very arrogant and making a scene. Two other people were ejected but she somehow wasnât when she was the main one that started and escalated the problem.

Just a bunch of rednecks from Estill County showing their true colors when the game got close.
Could we please remove them from the 14th Region?

You expect a little arrogance from the crowd but not someone in a coaching position
02-20-2019, 10:00 PM
i look at it regardless if he is a assistant, he is the sheriff. He doesn't need to wear the uniform to assert his authority. That's what he is paid to do. More parents need to held accountable in all gyms. Most have no idea anything about the game yet act as though they do. Good job coach.

Fans say lots of things during games to refâs, coaches & players during games. When a coach acts the way the Owsley boys assistant did engaging the crowd & making this entire situation escalate into chaos is uncalled for, that led to all the other issues.

BOONEVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - An investigation is underway after a heated exchange at a high school basketball game.
It happened Tuesday night at a district tournament game between Estill and Owsley counties.
The Owsley County Sheriff ended up going into the stands to have a fan tossed out of the gym.
Just two weeks ago, WKYT investigated the growing concern about the culture of abusive behavior at high school games.
On Tuesday, Owsley County High School hosted the 56th district tournament and during the Owsley/Estill game, an Estill County fan came down to the Owsley bench.
Security video the school provided to WKYT shows the fan and a few sitting with him escorted out.
There was a second video from that night that was being shared on Facebook, it's since been removed.
In that video, after the initial fans were escorted out, you could see Owsley County Sheriff Brent Lynch go into the stands accompanied by deputies.
Lynch is also an assistant on Owsley County's girls basketball team so he wasn't in uniform.
He told WKYT he announced himself as sheriff and asked some other fans to leave because of the language they were using.
Some Estill County fans have said they didn't know he was the sheriff, and thought a coach was coming into the stands.
Owsley's superintendent tells WKYT he feels like they handled the situation appropriately and gives his coaches credit for keeping the players from geting involved.
He also said they are talking to the school attorney to see if they will press charges against that initial fan for abuse of a school administrator, which is a misdemeanor.
Estill County's superintendent tells WKYT they are also looking into the incident but they would refrain from making any comment since Owsley County was the one hosting the game.
KHSAA Commisioner Julian Tackett says because there were no players involved, the KHSAA would leave it to the schools to investigate.
Estill County plays Powell County Friday night in the boys' 56th district championship game.
The game will be hosted at Owsley County and the superintendent says there will be plenty of law enforcement on hand.

Who won the game

I'm a big Estill fan but the way I see it is, if they find out/can prove whoever started it, actually started it, then they should be banned from ever attending another game at Owsley County, wheather it be Estill County or Owsley County.

Just seen three different videos and I would be ashamed for that guy to be the sheriff of my county. Heard that this behavior from him is why he's an ex state trooper.
Grabbed a lady's wrist and wouldn't let it go, an Estill admin came to her aid and he told the Estill admin that he'd kick his butt too.

That would be awesome if the sheriff was not allowed to go to Owsley co games

Theirs also a video of an Estill fan right behind Owsley's bench screaming at their coaches. So that's 4 videos.
The person from Estill that was screaming at Owsley's coach's and the Owsley coach that went into the stands should never be allowed back to a game at Owsley County.

His two deputies were standing beside him. She had her fingers in his face pointing and shouting at him. Another guy ask the sheriff to âmeet me outside to settle thisâ.
Grabbed a lady's wrist and wouldn't let it go, an Estill admin came to her aid and he told the Estill admin that he'd kick his butt too.
Iâve know the sheriff since he was a youngster and thereâs not a nicer person anywhere. He was simply trying to calm things down but a few fans became belligerent with him and his deputies and wouldnât allow that to happen. The one lady was the one who instigated most the problems by shouting at the Owsley coaching staff much of the night telling them to âsit down and shut upâ. Then the two guys later came down behind the bench and one poked his finger into one of the coaches back and thatâs when the game stopped and everything snowballed out of control.
Thereâs not many law enforcement officers thatâs going to allow people to stick their hands/fingers in their face, be uncomplient, and talk harshly to them when theyâre trying to do their job, not in Owsley or the three other district counties. At least I donât think so.

Let go itâs go get over it. King you were not there so ever thing you say is hear say. Same with you tanner you didnât see or heard what was said. So get over it.
