This was a huge win for the Lady Devils being on the road at West Carter in Overtime. The big play to send in it to overtime was with 5 or 6 seconds left Sanders with a layup to tie it to send it to overtime. This team has been impressive after losing one of there best players Aubrey Hill who averaged 15 and 8 each game and having a great season. Since her injury the Lady Devils are 10-1 after the Pikeville loss when Hill went down. They have only lost to Boyd County and have won huge games vs. Ashland, West Carter, and Minford. Another reason they are 10-1 is they have one of the best Head Coaches in the 16th region with Head Coach Mandy Layne. You can see this team after losing one of there best players is starting to play outstanding ball and learning to play together without Hill. It will be interesting to see how well they play on the road in there next to last game at Boyd County after losing by 20 at Russell. I will say this time around they will play better and it won't be a 20 point loss this time after how well they played on the road at West Carter tonight. Ross and Sanders each scored 20 and this team is going to be dangerous when the 16th regional starts. Boyd County is clearly the favorite right now but you have Russell, West Carter, Ashland, and Rowan County all playing good basketball. I believe any one of these 3 teams on a given night can beat Boyd County if they can slow down 31 ppg. and 7rpg. Savannah Wheeler.
