Very hard fought game! I thought both teams played as hard as I’ve ever seen two teams play. Both coaches have to be proud of their teams effort tonight. I was impressed that Pikeville still got the win after playing as bad as they did (playing hard over ones many things). A lot of upside and areas for improvement for these Panthers between now and district or region, as I think some teams are peaked right now.
Coach Hick’s teams always play hard, hats off to them tonight for their effort as well.

And I'm not laughing at his comment about the Pikeville team.

I don’t know about a shit to win it but I can tell you this I’m from Belfry and I can tell ya Pikeville is not dirty there Coach don’t allow that stuff to go on and I can guarantee that he is a much better person than just about all that gets on here including me

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think Coach Justice would put up with his players playing dirty.

Just a whiner. Coach Justice would be the last person to allow dirty play.

I didn’t see the game but it must of been a barn burner... Congrats to Pikeville

SV is a good team but it would be hard to believe they would win every game this year against Pikeville and especially at Pikeville who had the home court advantage last night.

Where are their district games being played this year?

SV and Pikeville are both front runners to win the region this year but I wouldn’t count JC or Paintsville out of the race either. It should be fun......

For what it’s worth, I’m not a fan of playing the regionals at the Expo center, even when it’s packed out it doesn’t have the same feeling as playing in the school gyms to me.

These teams will play 2 more times, and I expect 2 more good games. I think SV is a slightly better team, but it could go either way next time. SV has to figure out a way to get Potter more looks against Pikeville.

Want some cheese with your whine?

I suspect you may be upset about any number of hard plays (by BOTH teams). Maybe it's the one where the Shelby Valley player jumped up for a rebound, and landed on the Pikeville players head/shoulders and then flipped off onto the floor and was NOT called for a foul but could have been and the ref realized it was nothing but a basketball play where there was no intent on either player? Or was it the double teaming on the Worrix point guard (good player by the way) that resulted in some turnovers and people screaming he was fouled? There's a million plays when these two teams get together that has everyone up in arms every time. Never fails.

Let it go. You'll feel tons better.

Pikeville rotated Billiter and Roberts on him, and they were exceptional in denying him touches for the most part. He had 8 points in the All A, all from the free throw line. Zero floor points. Last night I think I only saw him get off one 3 pointer (that he made), maybe two or three attempts allowed. They've run every type of screen humanly possible to free him up, but Pikeville has good athletes who can get around or thru the screens and keep up with him. That is one reason they match up so well with Valley.

I find this hard to believe. These are two of the most talented teams in the region, neither one needs to resort to dirty play to win. If there is physical play, it is incumbent on the refs to call fouls if needed.

I had predicted that Pikeville would win this one. Hard enough trying to beat the same team 3 times in a little over two weeks, even harder doing it twice in 3 days. When you consider it was on Pikeville's home floor, I would have been more surprised if SV did win it. I am actually glad that Valley dropped this one, takes a little bit of the pressure off the next time they play.

District is at East Ridge this year, so no home court advantage for either of these two.

Barring a HUGE upset, they will play a 4th time in the district championship. Then, they would be placed into opposite sides of the regional bracket, so the only way to meet a 5th time would be in a regional championship game. That definitely could happen, although Paintsville and Johnson have to be considered strong contenders as well. Have to imagine the regional champ comes from those four teams, though.
