Shelby Valley 50 Pikeville 48 (15th Region All A Championship)
#1
SV had an awful first half but turns it around in the 2nd to win it despite some serious free throw issues.
#2
Keion worrix is the man
Jim hicks is the best coach in the region I have no affiliation with them but he is, what he built from that group is to be respected
#3
Game closer than expected.
Congrats Wildcats

Than who expected? Pikeville has led Valley at the end of 6 out of the 8 quarters they have played. Just not at the end of the 4th in either game.:ChairHit:

Wow, sounds like it was a great game! Congrats Valley!

Oddity of the schedule is that these two teams turn around and play again on Tuesday, making the 3rd time they will have played in about 2 1/2 weeks. These two will almost assuredly meet again in the 59th district championship, and very well could end up playing what would be a 5th time (!) in the regional title game in March.

Cody Potter finishes with 8 points on 0 field goals going 0-12. Not a good sign for the rest of the region if SV can win with him struggling that bad.

However, the score at the end of the 4th is the only one that counts.

To pikevilles credit the reason they play Valley so well is because Billiter locks potter down. He may be the only person in the region who can guard him.

For once we agree. If Potter has 0 FG and you still don't get Valley, you may never get them.

These teams are really close they will end up playing 4 times this year and I don’t think Valley will win when it counts and for the poster that said Hicks was the best Coach in the region you are smoking some good stuff or eating some tide pods

Sounds like he did play excellent defense on him today. But, when they played a couple weeks ago Potter did lead the team with 18 pts, on 5-11 shooting.

Still can't believe Valley was able to beat a solid team like Pikeville with Potter going 0-fer from the floor. If you had told me before that he would only score 8 on 0 field goals, I would've assumed SV gets beat by 10 points. Tons of credit must go to the rest of Valley's team for stepping up, as well as to Pikeville for defending Potter so well.

First off the all a doesn’t count? Second give me a reason he isn’t??? Builds a team, they play as hard as anyone I’ve ever watched. Play defense. Share the ball. Win games. All this without having to bring in a bunch of outside talent. You tell me who is better?? I’ll accept Randy McCoy maybe but no one else. I’ll wait for some other names but my list starts with him.

Would take a huge upset in the first round of district for them to not meet 4 times. Decent chance they could meet in the regional title game as well.

But, what do you mean Valley won't win "when it counts"? This game counts for more than the regular-season district games, because it's really not that important to get the #1 seed. It could also be argued that this was more important than the district title game, because the runner-up still goes to region.

All this without having to bring in outside talent is a joke. Both worrix brothers are from Mullins, Stanley from pike central and potter from Johns creek.

Honestly didn’t know that. Damn pike central would’ve been awesome lol

Several teams have players that didn't start out in that school system. Pike Central would certainly be much stronger with those players. But if that was the case, Connor Roberts would be at Valley, and Rylee Sammons would be at Floyd. This region would be flipped all around, lol.

Youre an Elisha hater because he is coaching at Pikeville, plain and simple. You guys finally win an All A and you lose your mind. I’ll give you some reasons: The only thing SV has won under Hicks, before today is an All A a couple years back because Sheldon Clark’s two best players were ejected the game before and couldn’t play in the finals. Hicks hasn’t won anything at SV. Glad he finally had some success today! In two years Justice has won 2 district titles, 2 15th region titles, 1 All A, and made it to the Elite 8 last year in the big show. Why wouldn’t Justice be the top coach. I still say Pikeville wins the the region this year, which would be three regional titles in his 3 year stint!
Potter is from Johns Creek should be at PC, the two Worrix kids lived in Pikeville and went to Mullins, McPeek went to Millard - so he should be playing at ER.

some other Poster said Stanley is from PC, didn’t know that. Also, I think Connor Roberts played middle school at Pikeville and went there in elementary.

Dude I don’t care about valley or pikeville and I sure don’t hate Elisha he’s a great dude and seems to be a good coach, this year will tell the tale. You give any coach in the region Wyatt Battalie and they are gonna win. I just love how Jim Hicks teams play. This is his 3rd all A btw and made a couple more finals. Watch the games and tell me he can’t coach. As an unbiased observer Jim Hicks teams ball out. No he hasn’t beaten teams with way more talent I.E pikeville last two years or Tommy’s run with insane talent at Central but his teams are always good and always make good showings. For the same reason I think Randy McCoy is an unreal basketball coach. You can’t control the talent you have it’s how you coach them that counts

You sound really bitter. This was Hicks’ 3rd time winning the 15th All A. I won’t say he’s the best coach in the region but he’s done a great job building up this team. Elisha is a good coach too, but I don’t think there’s too many coaches that wouldn’t have won it the last 2 years with what he was handed (Bataille).

You’re more than welcome to share your opinion that Pikeville will win it this year, and they just might, but right now SV is easily the favorite.

I think Pikeville will beat SV at least once. Just depends on when.

You're the one who said “tell me who is better” and that’s what I did.

Connor Roberts went to Valley / Virgie all the way up through 7th grade before he switched schools. And he lives about 2 minutes from Shelby Valley's campus. So going by residence, he would go to SV.

But again, lots of kids at many different schools are at someplace different than where they started. It's no big deal. Almost every school in Pike County has benefited from transfers in at least one sport.

For the record I still like Paintsville to win the region. Landon will have them ready and they have loads of talent. No matter who you like it’s gonna be fun!!

Can somebody give me a summary of Shelby valley? Who are their best players? How big are they? What style do they play etc? Who would you pick in the big eky matchup with Elliot?
#26
Shelby Valley's Orbi Mcpeek had an awesome tournament!! SV's bigs are much underrated.
#27
Excuse me gentlemen.. it’s spelled Battaile..

Great game. Congrats wildcats. Looking forward to state games.

Congrats SV and good luck at All A state.

I figured Pikeville would be in rebuilding mode this season but they seem to be better than I anticipated. SV is a great program and no shame in losing to the Wildcats in bassketball. Obviously the 2 Johnson County Schools will be right there also but depending on the draw I could easily see the 2 playing again in the Expo in a couple of weeks for the region title.
