Corbin 21 Boyle County 0
#91
I honestly thought Boyle County was going to win this one. Corbin played a great game.
#92
Congrats Corbin , Good luck next weekend and bring home the trophy
#93
I agree with hound05, the kick catch interference was a terrible call and the pass to #9 in the corner he had both feet in. But I thought there were some other questionable calls and they slowed the game down once again.
#94
After what I witnessed, and was told during the game by a Couple of different Boyle players parents not only did Corbin out play Boyle last night, Corbin has the best coaching staff too I’m really disappointed and feel bad for the Boyle players.

Any update on the finals seating situation? Would love to be on the home side again. That woodford reserve room was handy.

From what I could see, I would agree with both of these statements. However, the game wasn't slowed nearly as much as it was last week. Guess you gotta be thankful for small issues.

If that's true, I share your disappointment for the Boyle players. Someone HAS to lose but it's better when both teams and coaching staffs give their very best effort.

My prediction for the game was half right. I knew Corbin would score some points and they scored as many as I thought they would. I said 14-21 and honestly thought it would be about 17. Then I thought Boyle would score 28 or so and maybe 35 if they were lucky. The Rebel D has given up rushing yards several games this year and I thought they would to a very good Corbin team. I just thought they would have the ability to outscore Corbin as they have many teams this year. Boyle was never able to establish the run and I didn't see a lot of open receivers. What I did find amazing was that it was just 7-0 at half. Corbin sure seemed to be in control the entire first half but was just up 1 score. I do want to defend Lanter a little bit. One fumble was all him but two others the snap seemed at his ankles. Then the int on the slant he just should have not tried to force it in. Coverage was fantastic and the Corbin player made a great play. Boyle's problem on their last game of the year was their problem on the first game of the year. Just too thin up front on both sides of the ball. Not saying they were bad up front just not State Champ caliber. I also hate when people say one team wanted a game more than another because nobody knows what in a kids mind and it was just 7-0 at half and Boyle had the one TD nullified and seemed just one big play away from making it a game........but Corbin sure looked like they wanted it more.
According to the Lex H-L, Reese Smith played with a broken hand. Hence only 2 catches for -1 yards. No Smith no win but still doesn't account for a 21-0 score.

I am curious, what do you feel that Boyles staff left on the table last night?

Things don't always go how coaches plan them to, that is for sure.

Congrats to Boyle on a fine season.

Redhound fans, this isn't over yet. There's a war looming with another GREAT Louisville Central program on Friday.
Can they hang with central speed?
Haddix is obviously a great coach but mvp of the coaching game last night was Corbin's D coordinator.
Congratulations to Corbin will be rooting for you next week just can’t be for a Louisville team would like to have seen the td for Boyle not called out of bounds incorrectly just to see if that would have given Boyle life going into the 4th glad to see better sportsmanship in this game than last for sure

This is true IMO. Not enough can be said about Corbins D last night. They was definitely prepared for this game.
To criticize the Rebel coaches after their first loss in 29 games is ridiculous. Best player had screws put in his hand 4 or 5 weeks ago, breaks same hand last week again, using a freshman DLinmen, one starting DE didn't even play last year and as a soph was a WR. With the exception of Roller our LB's look to be about 155-170 lbs. Bartleson, the second biggest offensive weapon has been about 60% for the last month. Did you know Bartleson has like 10 carries and maybe 3 receptions in the last 5 or 6 games combined !!! These ARE NOT excuses. The better team won the game. But I think this coaching staff has an outstanding job finding someone to fill in when someone went down, to figure out who would run the ball when your top 3 rb's are all less than 75 percent. Boyle calling card on defense has always been run stopping and run stopping with extreme prejudice !! Didn't have that this year. You think they forgot how to coach run defense ???? Had a couple of Olinemen who really weren't ready to be starters this year but they had no choice. You think anyone is going to feel sorry for the Rebels? Of course not but with the depth issues at many, many positions I think this is actually one of the better coaching jobs I've seen in the last few years.

Sometimes you eat. Sometimes you get eaten. Boyle has nothing to be ashamed of and any talk that disrespects their Coaches and Players is way off base. Corbin was just better last night. Boyle turned the ball over in a couple of critical spots or this one would have been a nail biter. Coaches don't cause fumbles and players aren't robots. I'm a Hound, but any talk to disparage the Rebels in any capacity in unwarranted.
From the radio broadcast Corbin dominated! Congrats to the hounds I think lots of people thought this would be a war and sounded like it was in the first half but not much after. Turnovers hurt as Belfry knows first hand but that is part of football and I don’t think you will hear any Boyle fans crying about gifts. The only thing I heard on the radio that I couldn’t understand was Boyle not trying to get the ball to Smith, if he is your play maker I think they said he only had a couple of touches in the first half? I had a parent say he had broken his hand in the first half against belfry and refused to have surgery and be out for the year, is this right? Oh well the season is over time to heal up and go back to work. Congrats to the hounds and good luck!

I'd also be surprised if Reese doesn't have a concussion. He appeared to be out cold for a minute or so in the 4th quarter.

That is correct but he caught 2 TD passes after that happened. Obviously not 100 percent but didn't cost the game last night. Reese is a TOUGH kid !!! The fact he played every snap on defense last night against Corbin shows their depth issues this year. He also had to make way too many tackles from safety position last night. If your safety is making most of your tackles you have problems. He had 9 against Belfrey and I would guess he had more last night.

So why did they not try to get him the ball last night because they clearly did against Belfry with a broken hand? Just curious. I have seen them jet sweep and different things with the kid.

That is correct Reese had a hard cast on all week and was removed and taped for the game.

I was told early Monday morning that he rebroke the hand in the Belfry game and that it was put back in a cast last weekend.

Well said. I think when you have a line like you guys did last year you get spoiled a bit. Because those guys were truly amazing. Not saying this year yours were bad. But a very noticeable difference. Penetration was key for us. We were just able to get in the gaps and disrupt the flow for Boyle. Last year we couldn’t. That’s ok though, from my understanding a lot of Boyle’s players and line are juniors so they’ll learn from it and come back even better.

As far as the game, I’ll eat some crow. And apologize to our D. I didn’t think either teams defense would stop the other. Thought it was gonna be a shootout! I knew our D was good but damn! They played some ball tonight! Tonight wasn’t the same Boyle I’ve watched a couple times this year. Was it because they were flat? Maybe? Was it something Corbin done? Maybe? I don’t think we played our best last year and I don’t think Boyle played their best tonight. I’ve said it before and will say it again. Sometimes the ball bounces funny ways, and it did tonight. Now, I’m not gonna sell Corbin short. The better TEAM won tonight. They played with a chip on their shoulder and never gave up on a single play. But both sides need to remember. The highs are never as high as they seem. And the lows are never as low as they seem. This game isn’t our season, while a win is nice, we have bigger goals and this was just one more notch towards it. We gotta stay focused. But I thought we had a good game plan and we stuck to it. We didn’t do anything really “special” just because it was Boyle. We played our game. Adapted when we had to and survived. Our defense hasn’t got enough credit all year. Because offense is always sexier I guess, but I can’t say enough about them. Bend but don’t break should be their motto haha. Estep played a smart game. The WRs done what they were supposed to do and our RBs stepped up big. Good game all around. Let’s carry it over to next week! And like I said before, don’t doubt the redhounds!

Btw Sur. Sorry I didn’t get to meet ya. I had a great seat and when I looked for ya there were a bunch down there that matched your description

It was definitely a team effort, but Estep is a game changer, and Yeager punched the defense in the mouth a few times.

I mean NO disrespect whatsoever!! Boyle's team has nothing to regret! I know they left it all on the field. However, I have heard from two different and reliable sources that the coaching staff spent way more time on playing Louisville Central than playing Corbin. I didn't believe it at first. Any coaching staff that is as seasoned and successful as Boyle's should NEVER look past ANY team that has made it to a state semi-final game. I don't care if you're playing Possum Holler!! If a team makes it that far, there is a reason they're there.

I am so upset because I know what it's like for the kids to put in the hard difficult work. IF Boyle's coaching staff did that, then they disrespected their program.

My son would have never had a hard cast replaced within a week of a second injury, with tape!! Sorry, not sorry!!
