Corbin 21 Boyle County 0

mysonis55 Wrote:Just the way I thought it would go. I really didn’t think Boyle was a whole lot better than Corbin last year. I knew they lost more to graduation than did Corbin. Plus, I knew the new WV was more mobile and therefore a bigger threat to Boyle’s defense.
The new WV.

Thanks. Who did I pick to win this game? Smile

Wow! Thanks to WYMT for allowing us who couldn’t be there to watch it. What a performance by the Big Red. I am proud of those kids more than one can imagine. They wanted it, they grabbed it, and they took it and did so in dominating fashion.

That said, I’m not going to sit here and say that Boyle brought their A game. A fool can see that because the Rebels are one hell of a team and in my opinion has the best coach in Kentucky alongside Mr. Haywood. I tip my hat to Boyle County on a great season and my heart goes out to the kids who’s career ended. Let me say this though. I know what y’all have coming back and expect to see you all again next year. The scale tips back in your favor. What a talented bunch of YOUNG kids up in Title town. The Boyle program is nothing but class and each and everybody I met from there last year in Lexington were pure class as well.

Also thanks to the kind words and support from Mayfield and Belfry fans. I can’t wait to see Belfry get back to dominating 3A next year and here’s to Mayfield showing those boys from the city what real small town football is all about. Go get title #3579 Cardinals. Hopefully The hounds will too. Central is the real deal so it may take an even better effort than tonight to knock them off.

Lol! The same team I picked I'm guessing!

Chuck Smith must have not coached in this game because he is the greatest coach to every walk the face of the earth, bar none. 2.) The field must have been muddy because no one can play Boyle County close unless the field is muddy or at least that was the excuse used by one of their fans in the North Hardin-Boyle County thread earlier in the year.

Congrats Corbin!

Actually neither no rain whatsoever, Corbin just dominated the whole game, simple.🤪

Very classy post my friend. I've been a Hound fan ever since we played you guys a couple a years ago. Love your program. Corbin will always have at least one fan here in Eastern Kentucky. And your right about Boyle, they to are a great program. But I believe even if they played their A game I still think Corbin wins tonight. I've said all year, I think its Corbins to lose. Congrats on the win buddy, you guys deserve it.

Congrats to Corbin. Better team won. Corbin D was fantastic. Corbin controlled the game up front on both sides of the ball and took it to the Rebels from the opening.

Congrats to Boyle on a great season

I’m happy!! Don’t get me wrong haha. But stay humble and stay focused. This isn’t my goal. I’m glad we beat Boyle, but another semi victory isn’t what I want!

Heck no that's not what you want! Go get that ring Hounds!

Not taking one thing away from the Hounds. They executed a perfect game tonight with grit and hard work!

It was the Corbin D that dominated and the Corbin offensive line that dominated. Corbin just wanted it more

I finally understand the meaning of that. And my response is, “I don’t recall”.

Great job Hounds... I knew they could do it. Hounds still have unfinished business to take care of. Congrats to Boyle on a great season!

Look, first off, hats off to Boyle. They won what? 25 games in a row? That’s a fear by itself! They were a great team and showed great sportsmanship. It was a nice change after last week. Hope smith is ok. He’s a heck of a player. Boyle will be a force next year even in 4A.

As far as the game, I’ll eat some crow. And apologize to our D. I didn’t think either teams defense would stop the other. Thought it was gonna be a shootout! I knew our D was good but damn! They played some ball tonight! Tonight wasn’t the same Boyle I’ve watched a couple times this year. Was it because they were flat? Maybe? Was it something Corbin done? Maybe? I don’t think we played our best last year and I don’t think Boyle played their best tonight. I’ve said it before and will say it again. Sometimes the ball bounces funny ways, and it did tonight. Now, I’m not gonna sell Corbin short. The better TEAM won tonight. They played with a chip on their shoulder and never gave up on a single play. But both sides need to remember. The highs are never as high as they seem. And the lows are never as low as they seem. This game isn’t our season, while a win is nice, we have bigger goals and this was just one more notch towards it. We gotta stay focused. But I thought we had a good game plan and we stuck to it. We didn’t do anything really “special” just because it was Boyle. We played our game. Adapted when we had to and survived. Our defense hasn’t got enough credit all year. Because offense is always sexier I guess, but I can’t say enough about them. Bend but don’t break should be their motto haha. Estep played a smart game. The WRs done what they were supposed to do and our RBs stepped up big. Good game all around. Let’s carry it over to next week! And like I said before, don’t doubt the redhounds!

“Unfinished business” SUR64

Btw Sur. Sorry I didn’t get to meet ya. I had a great seat and when I looked for ya there were a bunch down there that matched your description

I’m not gonna argue with a compliment towards us, but I wouldn’t say our Oline dominated. They played to their strengths and played smart. But dear god Wilson Kelly lived in our backfield haha.

I got to say, I was a little shocked that Corbin won this so easily.

I still have t found the 40 something they was going to drop on the hounds.

Easy? Dude this was a freaking battle til the end. It might have been 21. But it was a hard fought 21. And Boyle is the type of team that can put up points in no time.

I saw it, and heard it being discussed about some of the refs calls. I’ll say this. From my vantage point which was higher but further away, it didn’t look like anyone touched the punt returner. I thought it should have been corbins ball inside the 10. Would it have led to another 7? I don’t know?? But I’ll say this too. The Boyle WR was in bounds. That was a TD. Would it have made a difference? I don’t know, the way the D was playing probably not. I consider those two calls a wash. But the refs we had tonight were actually pretty good. I wouldn’t mind seeing them again next week. They missed some holding calls on both sides. Heck, I’m not sure if BC had any??? But all in all a good called game. I’d HATE to face BC next year! I’ll say that.

Great win by the Hounds and Estep played great game along with the D have to be players of the game. Corbin’s Defense was great but Boyles Quarterback put it on the ground 3 times and thru a pick. All 4 turnovers in the red zone I believe, he was really bad in this game Although I was hoping Corbin could pull it off you have to feel for that kid, he had as bad of a game one could have in a big time atmosphere. On to Central, I’m going to try to attend all the games next weekend. A coach from Ohio sit beside in the box he was really impressed with Estep at quarterback as a side note.

That's awesome! Estep is a helluva football player.

I’m doing this on my phone. Apparently the spell check thought qb should be WV. It tried to correct it this time too but since you pointed it out, I caught it. Thanks

Offensive line dominated and that was that.

Now hold on with this best coach stuff. I think we got a pretty darn good one here in western Ky. He’s led his bunch to 10 state championship games and won 6 of them so far. He’s only been the head coach since 1999. If you count his asst coach days, he’s got several more.

But, you know us Mayfield people will be there supporting Corbin next week as well.
