T-CATS Wrote:Cats ( Wilson) looks a little nervous on Offense. Defense playing pretty well.
He doesn’t seem comfortable at all tonight. They can’t get in a rhythm at all.

Gotta get some points out of this interception.
#33
I’m just not convinced Wilson is ready for the big time. Had a chance there after that interception and he just played horrible. Which that penalty didn’t help.
#34
Well that was that
#35
Touchdown Terry looks so hesitant tonight, he’s got to throw the thing, quit holding it for so long.
#36
Our offense is absolutely lost right now. Hoak has to get a shot or something right now

Sorry UK fans but no way are we a top 20 team with this horrendous offense. We just got exposed on that side of the ball. Yeah we can run on mediocre defenses but we couldn’t pass on a good middle school team Confusednicker: I’ve seen better playbooks on a middle school team lol.

As i typed that the defense scored on a fumble return lol
#38
Absolutely worst 2 minutes of football I’ve ever witnessed. That falls on Stoops and Gran. Oh and Wilson cause he thinks he can hold the ball all night. Blown game
#39
Receivers can’t get open isn’t helping Wilson or the Offense
#40
3 timeouts and didn’t use one in that 2 min drill. Typical with us.
#41
We were scared to try to win. If ot comes down to the kickers, who knows what might happen. Our best hope is Benny breaks one.
#42
This playing not to lose instead of playing too win kills me. Just like last week in the 2nd half. Ended up with -15 yds rushing being so conservative. Instead of putting the dagger in them.
#43
Remember when we didn’t give the ball to Randall Cobb against Tennessee on four plays inside the ten to win the game? Benny should have ran on 3rd and 2, no matter if everybody in the stadium knew he was coming.
#44
I don’t hate to lose, but I hate to lose like this. And are you telling me we can’t find some random soccer player anywhere that can kick a field goal of more than 40 yards? Ridiculous.

I can’t even blame that playcall on Gran. He had Benny Snell in the wildcat and then Stoops calls a timeout. My guess is Stoops said everyone knows Benny is getting the ball you have to call misdirection here. We should have just came right back out in wildcat.

How do we not give Benny the ball there and let Terry try to make a play for us when he looked like a scared deer in headlights all night. Kid slide in overtime two yards from a s first down. He ran timid all night.

We had to have a touchdown on our possession. I’m not blaming the kicker, even if he makes it, they’re scoring a touchdown. But 3rd and 2? You think Benny isn’t gonna pick it up, even if it took two carries? He didn’t touch the ball in overtime. And as shaky as Wilson was all night, you’re gonna trust him with that play? Just puzzling. And disappointing.

He slide about four or five times like that in the game. Runs indecisive and scared. Looked shaky all night and you put the ball in his hands makes no sense.

I guess the biggest thing that gets me is the last two minutes of play. 3 timeouts, 90 yards to end zone, we finally start moving the ball and we just let time run out and only use one timeout when the clock finally gets down to less than :30. Why does he believe in this playing not to lose rather than playing to win. I don’t know who was more scared, Stoops or Wilson. One thing I’ve learned. No one in Lexington apparently knows how to design plays for the slots and the tightnends. We have one of the best TE in the country and don’t use him. We couldn’t pass on a middle school defense apparently. I’m not a coach but my god man

1. Kick butler off the team. His kicking is atrocious. The kid does not have a leg.

2. The one time in 5 years that I wanted stoops to run the wildcat, the idiot doesnt.

3. Without a qb that can pass you will never beat teams with good fast defenses. You put tua on this team and we are talking a top 5 team.

Definitely agree with you. I haven’t seen him but is Hoak more accurate than Wilson? I know he’s not mobile and that’s why we have Wilson, but tonight he was too scared to even run the ball. The kid just locked up from the start. I think he’s taken us as far as he can, against upper level competition he is just out of his league. Maybe a decent pocket passer and with Benny/Rose in the backfield is what it’ll take to step up one more level to compete with the A&M’s, and Georgia’s. Who knows. But one thing we do know, we don’t have a two minute offense or don’t have a plan for it really, we come home with at least two timeouts from regulation, and one of the best Tight ends in the country is seldom used along with our slot receivers lol. The things that costed us the win tonight is fixable, and i hope during this bye week they really study this thing called the forward pass. It’s like watching mountain teams that depend solely on the run Confusednicker: This should put the heisman stuff to bed and now we can concentrate on getting better. I’m not sure what’s worse too me, just being the usual bad UK team or being a really really good defensive team, in position to win every game but blowing it due to lack of offense or coaching hahaha. Either way we should win around 10 games i think. Which is hard to complain about
#53
if you had asked any UK fan before the season if they would be okay being 5-1 with the one loss being in OT at Texas A&M each one would have taken that deal immediately. But with the horrible QB play and vanilla playcalling this loss is a hard one to swallow.

The coaching staff has to take a hard look at the QB position. I will be very disappointed if Gunnar Hoak does not get a few series in the Vandy game after the bye. If Terry Wilson was making huge plays with his feet and making some decent throws here and there it would be one thing but he isn’t doing either. It’s the perfect time to explore our options or otherwise we may watch a truly special season slip away.
#54
You’re absolutely right. I guess what worries me now is, with last night’s offensive performance, an upset loss at Tennessee or at Louisville, or even at home to Vandy wouldn’t be out of the question. We need those three plus the Middle game, that’s nine wins. I think Missouri on the road is a coin toss, Georgia at home a loss. But 10-2, with probably an Outback Bowl New Years Day game, and not having to get annihilated by Alabama in the SEC championship game would be about as perfect a season as any UK football fan could dream of.

I was going to group quote and comment on each one, but there are too many that I agree with!!! Confusednicker:

Stoops lost that game last night. Pure and simple. QB was terrified and it showed. Our defense played extraordinarily well!! Hoak should've had an opportunity and Snell should've had way more carries than he did.

BUT, we had our first loss to a wonderful A&M team at THEIR field in OT. The sun is about to come up and I hear birds singing so I'm pretty sure the world didn't end. We will fight another day.

I don't like losing and HATE when we beat ourselves, but I am proud of this team!!!
#56
We need to go out and get Kelly Bryant from Clemson. No way we should have left Terry in the game after the first drive of the second half. Have to change it up. Kid is afraid to throw the ball and afraid of contact when he runs.

A&M kept Wilson confused all night. Played terrible but had a chance to steal a win. Kudos to defense.

You’re 100% right. Now that I’ve calmed down, I’m much more at peace with this. This was a team that should have beat Clemson, gave Alabama a respectable game, and they were at home with 100,000 very loud fans. Really we were lucky to have ANY kind of chance to win this at the end, as anemic as our quarterbacking was last night. Can still have a super year, but some things we have to address;
1. Do we need to at least see what our offense would be like with a pocket passer? (I’d certainly lean towards yes on that one).
2. Are we going to have to get to the opponents 20 or closer to have any chance of a field goal? That really puts your offense in a bind, changes your play calling. (Although a lot of times that would probably be a good thing for us.)
3. Is C.J. Conrad still even on the team? He’s as good or better than the A & M guy, and he gets targeted what once maybe twice a game? He has to be frustrated.
Like I said before, 10-2 with a New Years Bowl would be a dream, 9-3 with a good bowl would be fine, anything less than that with our remaining schedule would be disappointing from the point we are at now. Use the bye week to clean things up, come out and stomp Vandy and get the second half rolling, still lots of great things that can happen. How about road wins at Florida, Tennessee and Louisville all in the same year?
#59
Would love to beat Gators, Vols and Tards in one season. Lot of demons in those three closets.
#60
Florida beat #5 LSU.
Miss. St. beat #8 Auburn.
South Carolina beat Missouri.

Texas A&M's two losses are to #1 Alabama and #2 Clemson.

If you would have told me before the seasons started that UK would be 5-1 going in to the Bye week with wins @ Florida, vs. Miss. St. & vs. South Carolina..... our only loss would be in OT, on the road @ Texas A&M, I would have gladly taken that.

Vanderbilt, Missouri, Tennessee, MTSU & Louisville...... UK still has five games that are very winnable. A 10-2 regular season is there for the taking.
