There are a bunch of matchups across the state I'd love to see play out, but, unfortunately, it won't happen, but, if we could make it happen, who'd you like to see play each other and who'd you pick to win if they did and why?

Now, I realize these games aren't happening this year, so, before anyone jumps on here and makes some smart comment about that, either play along or move on, seriously.

I'm going to get this started with a few games I'd love to see and would like to hear how you think they'd play out if they did or pick any other matchup you'd like to see and how you think they'd play out and why.

This is all a "just for fun" thread and to get a little banter going, so, take it as such and enjoy.

Good matchups here.. I'd love to see CC vs FD myself. Athletes all over the field. I think CC has been a little more battle tested and would likely win by a score or 2..

I like the Beechies, but, I'm afraid they'd be a little over matched against Boyle. I think they could keep it competitive for a half, then Boyle would take over and win by about 3 scores..

Don't know enough about Paris and Bourbon, but, like renewing old rivalries, for sure.

3 great games here.

I almost went with Belfry vs Mayfield instead of Highlands vs Mayfield cause this is another game I'd love to see. In past years, I'd probably have went with Belfry in most of them, but, this year, I just think Mayfield's offense is so good, it would give any team fits and not sure Belfry could keep pace on the scoreboard this year.

JC vs Boyle is another great matchup.. 2 evenly matched teams in my book. I like both these teams a lot and thinl it would be a touchdown win or less either way.

Highlands vs Southwestern. I think SW is probably the more talented team, but, there is something to be said about tradition. FTH has the mystique that tends to intimidate a lot of teams, although they've lost a little of that since Mueller's departure, so, imo, if SW comes out confident and just plays there game, I think they'd come out on top in a very close game.

Male vs C. Cath.. What a matchup this would be. I think these ae the Top 2 teams in the state this year. CC is strong on D and O and run like a fine tuned machine. Male, on the other hand, have the athletes to match up and a defense that won't allow many points. For that reason, I think Male likely wins this one in a low scoring affair along the lines of 17-10..

S. Warren vs Boyle.. I'm really back and forth on this one. I think SW is about as good as it gets on D, which means they'd be in most games they play, but, because they've not really played that tough a schedule, and, Boyle always plays a challenging schedule, I think they may be a little more comfortable and confident in crunch time. I think the Rebels likely take this one 21-14 or so..

Ashland vs Southwestern.. Both these teams come in a little under the radar, but, are quietly having fantastic seasons. I'd like to see this one just to see who steps up in a big matchup like this. While I like the Tomcats team, I think SW may be a little too strong across the board and would take it in a 28-21 type game..

Mayfield vs Highlands... Talking about tradition rich teams, well you have it right here. Don't think these teams have ever met on the field, although you have to think both teams would be fairly familiar with each other since they have shared many state championship appearances in different classes. This years version find both teams with questions on the defensive side, so, that would likely be a wash, but, one constant the Cardinals have is there offense. It will take a stellar defensive team to beat them , cause you're not going to beat them in a shootout type game. That leads me to lean toward the Cardinals in a high scoring affair, something like 42-28..

B. Green vs Desales... Great matchup here. Desales is solid on both sides of the ball.. BG may not be as great as they were a few years back during there championship run, but, with Tisdale, they'd have the player on the field and they have a solid enough line play to match the Colts and the Purples likely have a slight edge in the skill positions. I think the Purples would ease out a win in the 17-14 type range..

When Trinity is the machine they have been in the past, I agree that the Rocks would probably win with a running clock against Belfry. IMO, when Belfry has a legit state title contender team and the Rocks are the best 6A team, but not on juggernaut status, this would be a game for the ages.

St. Xavier would probably be the better matchup for Belfry, year-in & year-out. The name value of St. X coming to The Cam would be the talk of the state.

The Johnson Central vs Boyle matchup could be more then just fantasy next year. Not just because Boyle is moving up a class either. It could happen before the playoffs.
