Mayfield 45 Corbin 21
Hound05 Wrote:Kind of like you were last week?

Care to elaborate and quote what I actually said? At no point did I remotely approach the delusional realm in which many of you people live. I tried to provide perspective. You obviously beat the brakes off of a 1a school by a whopping 7 points. Congrats. This week demonstrates the absurdity of many comments posted. Fun is fun but reality is reality. Lick your wounds and recover. I’m sure you guys will piece everything back together. Best of luck next week.
Yeah it's best to close it. All the other corbin fans paid respect and are on to next week. Of course there is that one fan who talked the most through the week and refuse to pay homage and move on to the next week.

If I were in 2A I’d be very very worried right now

Y’all better be worried about 3A. The Boyle train is picking up steam. Sloppy game Friday night, but a win nonetheless. I’ve not seen anything from Belfry, Central or Corbin that makes me think any can derail Boyle. Belfry’s offense is explosive, but the defense has issues. Central has issues offensively. Corbin has their own shortcomings to deal with. Boyle looks more and more like the prohibitive favorite.

Choo chooooooo!!!! 🚂
Crow doesn’t make you tired like turkey but boy it makes the blood pressure go up. I will say my peace again congrats mayfield your the second best team that has beat us. This loss will just make us tougher as did when Beechwood beat us last year, we bounced back and beat a very good mayfield team and won 10 straight until we lost the state championship game. As a die hard Corbin supporter I hope we can run off ten more this year cause that means we will be holding a trophy. That’s a tough task to ask and even tougher road to hold, but if it can be done this senior group has the will to do it.
I disagree with a coment by a Corbin fan earlier that tried to down play this group because his little Johnny is in the seventh grade. I have a son that’s a senior and one that’s a freshman, seventh grade team is good but they don’t have the heart the seniors have nor does any class we have. This group has won countless titles in middle school, and lead Corbin last year to first appearance in ages in football and baseball. I am not taking away but don’t count them out cause of one loss. I am not making excuses but this game we played as bad as we did in state championship game, flat, no passion and looked hung over from Beechwood game or the week off I don’t know. Playing a team like Beechwood and mayfield will show you what you need to improve on, mayfield showed us repeatedly unfortunately. Two dropped returns and another turnover led to 21easy points, last year two turnovers gave us the win. So as the saying goes sometime your the windshield and sometimes your the bug. This week we was the bug.

We did beat Beechwood in every aspect of the game. Score showed 21-14 but remember we had two turnovers one in the end zone and one on the nine I believe, we turned it over but was driving. Could have been very easily 35-14.

The comment made about Corbin not getting anything out of playing Beechwood or Mayfield was not a Corbin fan. They are a goober from the county over that refuses to play Corbin and has never had a whole lot of success in football so they don’t realize what it takes to compete and win. Good luck to Beechwood they are definitely a quality program and should win 1A again without a hitch
Corbin beat beechwood with their best player/receiver playing. He may be out the remainder of the year. Which will spell trouble for the pups. Don’t say I didn’t tell you all.

What exactly is his injury?

Reese Smith (Boyle) broke a finger/hand and had a pin put in last week, he will be out 2/3 weeks then with a cast for another couple weeks. I think by playoffs we should have him and another WR that's out at full strength.

I hate that a kid is out for the year and we got 2 starters out for year ourselves. It sucks.
I hate to see kids get hurt. It sounds like those are some that will heal up in time though. It could actually help those teams surprise someone though. For instance, Union City played Mayfield the best game of the season so far. They have an old ball control offense that never throws (1-5 times per game if lucky). But, the very next week, they lost their qb to a broken arm. They think he is gonna be back in time for playoffs. I think they have only won 1 game this year due to this. Now, they will get to playoffs and no one will take them as a threat. They will surprise the first 2 teams enroute to a state championship.

Yes, it's almost like sometimes getting injured makes you healthy for the playoffs. Lol

The kid from Corbin has a broken collarbone. I think the last timetable has him coming back the last week of the regular season or the first week of the playoffs.
I’m sure they will be glad to get him back. I hear that he is a great player.

Same thing I heard from Hound05. I still say that's awfully quick for a collarbone injury!

I know that it's possible and I hope he comes back 100% healthy.
Reese Smith could be back for the Garrard Co. game and without any complications for sure for Lexington Catholic.

Yes but I see no reason to push it. We play at home on the turf. Garrard doesn't throw the ball much. Our O will be fine without him. State title playoff run is tops on the list.

I say give him the extra week so he can catch some passes from BOTH QBs vs LexCath. 😬
They may be able to steal a couple weeks if they are the #1 seed. Theta should give them manageable games in first round or two.

Love when people rationalize scores. A score is a score. Nothing matters but what the scoreboard says as the horn blows. Moral victories don’t exist in real life.

😊

I've known/watched the kid for years...if he's not the best player on the field in a game it's because he's not playing in it.

😎
I thought we would be talking about this one way up into the week.
Well, I think it is what it is. We here in Mayfield respect the Hounds for playing us and making that long travel, as we did the first two years. That’s why I think the Mayfield bunch aren’t on here talking as much. I know we are happy with the showing by the Cards. I think the Hounds fans are just in shock that this could happen to them. They know they have a really good team. So, that’s why they aren’t talking much either. Two proud fan bases.

How would you know how much "heart" the 7th grade team has lol. Theyre 12 years old.
There's no reason in getting butt hurt over a high school football game.
Mayfields D line absolutely owned corbin in every possible way. Sometimes it takes a little kick in the ass to really see what you got.

Well said my friend. Classy post. Congrats on the win to.

Corbin has eat so much crow. I haven’t seen one outside all day. They must have ran out. 😂

Glad you can get some joy. Because you SURE can’t get it from your own sorry excuse of a team.

***sorry granny. Just now went through the garbage on page 5 and seen your comment.****

It’ll be okay. She didn’t use the switch on me, so I’m sure you will be okay.
FoSho Wrote:You forgot Boyle moved up to 4A too.

Corbin's Jr class was winless in 8th grade if I remember correctly?!?! The senior class was good as is the freshmen class....not sure about the 2021 class.

Boyle Co lost to Corbin in the 8th grade "title" game last season but when the two teams had a rematch this year for JV, Boyle won @ Corbin (34-30). The bottom line is this. 4A is going to be LOADED in the near future and Corbin and Boyle will be at the top of the ladder.

Longmire didn't play in the JV game though did he?

Glad you got so much joy out of the Hounds losing to bad your own team hasn’t been able to do it in the last couple years and I’d save my money on making any bets its gonna happen this year or the foreseeable future...
