IMO, I dont care about field conditions, what key player was injured, or the final score. These games happen, even to the best of us. I'm not concerned at all with the final score of this game. Boyle did what they needed to do to get the win. And as far as I'm concerned, the Boyle County Rebels are still the best team in 3A and one of the best teams in the entire state. Until they lose a game that they should have won or until they get beat in the playoffs they are still the "Kings of 3A" period! Close games are going to happen guys. It's how you react to the pressure and overcome adversity (field conditions) that define a great team. I have more respect for the Rebels now by overcoming all the adversity Friday night than I would have if they would have put up a running clock. It now shows me that they have the composure and will to win a close game. I already knew they could put up running clocks. To me, their even more scarier now. Good luck to all the young men playing Friday night all over the state. Play great!

But if the theory that a messy field doesnât favor one team over another, why have some programs âwatered down the fieldâ in big games in past years?

Now ThihThirty do you have any FBI forensic evidence of that claim?

As much as I hate I agree with my not so close buddy FoSho, it definitely makes a difference to team with speed. Now the ground and Pound game not some. Thatâs why if Boyle and Belfry play we are going to tear the lights up at Cam so they have to play at old Vipperman stadium. 1 poster has already accused Belfry of watering it down to take away the other teams speed. Hahaha

Fake News. If you want the real story of the so called "watered down field" I can tell it, or you can read the factual account in Coach Haywood's book. But to sit and "water down" a field is silly and so are the people who believe that hogwash.

I was at the Danville game back in the 80's. Not saying anything other than the field was sloppy wet and it wasn't because of rain. Maybe the sprinkler system broke? I don't know, but the playing field was a pig pen. Now, I am far from being a Danville football fan and didn't lose any sleep over the loss but I know what I saw that night and there was nothing fake about it.

Easy Jessamine did it to Boyle around 2009/2010 in a playoff game. It didn't work.
As far as Danville/Belfry game? I wasn't born yet so I have no idea. 😉

Actually is was a Belfry poster who told me the validity of it years ago.
For the record, isnât it ironic that I never mentioned which team did this? (For the record thereâs been a couple of others just as infamous in folklore)
Immediately an Admiral grad mentions 1986 and a Pirate fan takes it personally?
Itâs water under the bridge now but my point still exists. Some have watered fields and some have âlet the grass grow.â

It happens and Iâve witnessed it also, Boyle played a team in eastern Ky in the playoffs one year and it hadnât rained for two weeks as we walked thru the parking lot you could kick up dust and the field was a mud hole to make a long story short Boyle went on to win the game anyway in route to a state championship.

Iâm getting old I guess and my memory is slipping it was a Danville game that I attended instead of Boyle County I believe the year was 1998 and Danville went on to lose to Caldwell County in the state championship game, just wanted to clarify my mistake.

Wettest game I have ever been to was the 2002 BCHS at West Jessamine. Rained all day and for just about the entire game. West beat BCHS 13-9. BCHS beat Rockcastle 21-0 in the State Championship game after having beat Highlands 45-6 the week before. Boyle was 13-2 that year. Lost to Danville at home in the 3rd game of the season to end the 47 game winning streak. West Jessamine lost to Bullitt East 46-14 in the first round of the playoffs. BCHS beat Bullitt East 45-0 in the 3rd round of the playoffs and they finished the season 12-1. I am going out on a limb here to say that wet a$$ field may have played a factor in that loss. I want to say BCHS did not even with the district that year. If you look at the common opponents most were not close and they lost to a few of them. The Lincoln game for both schools were huge blowouts. I think they lost to Pulaski and East Jessamine both of whom the beat easily.

I remember posting last year that the cold weather at Kroger affected our passing game and was told BC had to play in the same. Which is true. But Corbin doesnât run the ball either. But I was just wrote off like it was nothing. So yes weather and field do effect teams. But it goes both ways as well so just remember that for future topics on this. Good luck to BC hope you guys get your kids back soon!!

It wasn't cold for the title game? It was like mid-40's?!?!
Now the ms "title game" it was 32 and raining which totally made our offense a non factor. I said this and was destroyed by Corbin fans. Certain styles of play are greatly effected by certain weather conditions. But I didn't feel like the 3A game was bad at all....we threw the ball just fine.

No way it was every bit in the 30s and a cold wind. I donât normally get cold but that game was a little chilly. But the point is weather does have an effect. But it works both ways. Why do keep putting âTitle gameâ? It was the TITLE GAME.

The middle school game is not a state title. It's a state tourney and a great accomplishment but not THE state title.
I can assure you the 3A title game weather had zero effect on the outcome. It was low 40's/maybe high 30's by the end but was never what I would classify as cold. Inside the stadium there was no wind.
The middle school game was sleeting/raining and windy...NOTHING like the high school game.

Remember that day very well. West won on a fake punt. That season Boyle won the district for beating East head to head.
1. Boyle 4-1
2. East Jessamine 4-1
3. Pulaski 4-2
4. West Jessamine 4-2
