MAyfield being Mayfield, proud of our D. They have made steady improvement since day 1. Congrats Corbin, u all will be fine and I hope to see u guys at the grocery store at the end of November

Like I said earlier, Corbin was in the game after 3 quarters.. It was 27-14.. I wasn't comfortable at that point.. I think it was a great decision to go for the field goal and go up 16 to start the 4th.. The back breaker was when Mayfield gets a stop on next possession as Corbin drove it down the field, then took over and had a terrific drive to go up 38-14.. At that point, there was still time, 10 minutes or so left, but, that fumble on the next kickoff return and quick score sealed the deal, going up 45-14 at the time with under 7 left.. JV came in at that time and although they gave up a score, actually played pretty well, moving the chains and running out the clock..

I really feel the difference tonight for Mayfield was their utilization of the IMTU

This junior and senior class for corbin was always wildcards IMHO.
It's the 7th threw sophomore grades where corbins talents really lie. In two years corbin will be the best team in 4A football. That doesnt mean they'll win, but they'll definitely be ready for it.

Absolutely, that’s my point, some of these guys, about 3, brought out the worst I’m me, I’m NOT going to apologize for my arrogance when those guys run their mouth all week. Corbin is tuff as heck, hit hard and don’t quit, I’ll give THE TEAM props, but the guys thT run their mouth all week are humbled, period, that was a butt whippin.

Can you say thump , boom, or bam. Mayfield can. Lol. Go home puppies.

Wow!!!! After the pregame analysis thread.....lots of folks should be hiding in the shadows. Almost everything that was said would happen, clearly didn’t happen. Whats up with that air ball?

Good game to both teams and I’m wishing a successful see for both.

Can tell by watching Corbin had a good team game that had a bad night and we played great but was very disappointed in the hounds fan support I think there were more players from Corbin than there were fans. I realize it was a long trip but common.

That's funny, because before the game, this was the year they've been waiting for, they're definately a top 10 team in state and this years version was better than last years, etc, etc.. Now, all of a sudden this jr and sr class are just wildcards.. Oh yeah, I liked the one about why does Corbin play all these small scools? Only helps them, doesn't help us.. We need to challenge ourselves against the bigger schools.. Tonight you found out why. Sorry, couldn't help myself.. In all sincerity, Corbin is a very good team and I expect them to bounce back and make a deep playoff run, especially when they get there stud WR back..
#42
If it’s any consolation, I would say they made almost as many stops of our offense tonight as the previous 5 teams did combined. They are still a good team.

Now, where is Dougie? Birdbrain calling Dougie. Where are you Dougie. Come get you 50lb sack of crow.

I think you've got me confused with somebody else.
I thought corbin would beat Mayfield about like last year but I'm not one of these corbin homers thats been going back and forth all week. In fact, the only thing I posted in the thread was that I was surprised so many egos could fit into one thread.

2 years from now is where it's at for corbin.

I didn't mean you said all of those things, but, I quoted your comment about this years upperclassmen being a widcard and the real talent in the lower classes.. You may well be right about that, but, according to a lot of Corbin posters, all the things I stated in my previous post was actually said and I have no reason to think they were just blowing smoke. Seemed pretty sure and confident in those comments..Sorry if you thought I was picking on you. Wasn't my intent..

There was an incalculable amount of Corbin blustering before the game. I’m assuming all in good fun....but WOW you people were wrong.

Yea the keyboard cowboy,, Dougie, has he showed up?

Boyle Co isn't going anywhere...trust me when I tell you that.

My pick on page 2 of game thread wasn’t too bad. I said MHS 51-29. That’s a 22 point spread. It was a 24 point spread. But, of course, I was the bird brain.
#49
You know them Boyle Co folks give me a rough time too. That’s mostly because I underestimated them last year. But those of you who have been on here a few years can recall how I told everyone that them and Lex Cath were gonna make 3a tough again when they reclassified. I got blasted for a couple years over that prediction. Now I get blasted by the fan base of the very bunch that I promoted.
#50
I'm reading this game more for what it shows about the defending 2A champs, considering what Corbin did to the Ads. Cal or DeSales should see little resistance from that side of the bracket.

What are you even talking about?

Nice win!! Goodnight.

They was saying the same exact thing about this junior and senior class about 3 years ago.

In saying that my old buddy mr dougie all i have to say is...i told you mayfield is the real deal. Its going to take a great team to beat them this year. Way to many weapons. Way to much speed

I guess what you and others said about that passing game, receivers, QB, line, etc.. was the truth. Personally when I watched Corbin vs Beechwood I felt Corbin had a top 10 secondary in the state. Maybe top 7. And maybe they do and it's just those WR's are that good. This is impressive.

Mayfield
Kent Trey Matthews- 26 rushes for 125 yards
Jayden Stinson 13-19-243 for 2 TD
Total yards - 430

"Wildcards"???! Really. Didn't those cats go out and dominate the middle school tournament in the 8th grade, best catch I ever saw in middle, and win over Bowling Green in a non competitive affair? Isn't that this Senior and Junior group? I'm not sure I full buy this, or buy even part of it. I'm sure those grades are talented, but "where their talent really lies?"....like the most talent is in those grades? I don't know man. Those seniors and juniors are pretty darn good. This Estep, he's not what I call a slob...

That's not some revelation, Boyle and Lex Cath reclassifying to 3A and thinking they might shake things up is a f***ing "duh, no **** statement". Anyone that argued that was insane and must have just moved down here, from like Maine or somewhere..

Congratulations Mayfield :Cheerlead y’all are the real deal in 2A and I will be wearing a mayfield shirt in the 2A state championship game. All week I have been saying..........when you see it,you will know it. I was talking about Corbin freshman Longmire star in the making. Feed him the ball :worthy: now I will eat my crow with mayfield water.
#58
Can somebody check on Dougie. He is M.i.A. Congrats Cards.
#59
Good luck to both teams moving forward. 2 good teams it just wasn't Corbins night.

One stat that doesn't get talked about much with this Mayfield team is turnovers. I think they have maybe 2 or 3 all year long. I also think the defense grew up tonight. One TD came by a k/o return and one came late in the 4th qtr. with the game out of reach. On the only offensive td that Corbin scored on the 1st team D, it was aided by 2 or 3 penalties that kept the drive alive. Granted, the Hounds took advantage of it and capitalized. Good teams do that, but, if you're going to beat a team like Mayfield, you have to be much more efficient or you'll get left behind..
