Belfry 36 Pikeville 21
#1
Final.
#2
Congratulations Belfry!

Sounded like Pikeville just couldn't stop the Pirates. The Pirates OLine was outstanding as usual.

The big 80 yd TD run right before halftime was a killer for Pikeville with Belfry getting the ball to start the 2nd half.

The turnovers really hurt Pikeville, gotta get that cleaned up.

Congrats Pirates, I hope both teams peak in late November.

Great game by both teams. Turnovers killed Pikeville in the 1st half and they could never recover. Belfry came up with two huge goal line stands that denied Pikeville from the end zone.

Good Luck Pikeville on the rest of your season.

Belfry sold out to stop the pass....5-6 DBs in coverage all night. Opened up the run game for Pikeville. Where did Belfry get #3 from, he’s a heck of a player.

What a question :biglmao:

This game felt closer than that score. What I expected though, the Panthers are for real! Turnovers killed them a little in the 1st half. They ran the ball at will on us. We've got to fix that. And I was wrong about them not beating us in the short passing game because that's exactly what they did. But Belfry looked great in the deep passing game on defense which is a great sign. All in all we're starting to come together and play good in all areas. Good win tonight for the Pirates and NOT a bad lose for the Panthers. Those kids played their hearts out, just came up a little short. I was impressed with them before the game and even more now. 1A better watch out, the Panthers are coming! Good luck to Pikeville the rest of the way. Hope you win them all.

Pikeville with 397 total yds. of offense to Belfry's 363 total yds., you would think that would have more of an impact for Pikeville, but the big plays, imo was in Belfry's favor. Both teams will improve by post season, and great effort from both Panther's and Pirates. Congrats Pirates.

Congratulations to the Pirates.

After reading your congratulations to Belfry, I was going to ask if you were OK, but I see that you recovered quickly.

I didn't realize Pikeville had more yardage, i guess the quick big strikes feel like more yards than long drives especially via radio. Besides the turnovers the Panthers were very good on offense and that's easily fixed.
#13
Congrats to Pirates.

If Belfry cannot fix their defensive line issues....it will be a relatively quick exit for the Pirates. Belfry’s offense is just beginning to come into their own. And tonight....starting FB Hensley didn’t even play. However, Coleman filled in very nicely. Bentley and Dixon looked stellar. OL once again, dominated the LOS.

All that being said.....Belfry has some REAL issues on the DLine. I’ve been screaming this since last year. Once DE/LB Seth Mounts returns, he will help. But, we are simply too small Pikeville’s line manhandled our defensive front all night. IMO....McNamee was his own worst enemy

Sorry, didn’t mean that in a snobbish way. I watched Belfry play Huntington and didn’t remember seeing or hearing his name and I don’t remember coming up through the Belfry system these past years. I’m assuming he transferred in, but I could be wrong.

Congrats to the Pirates on the win.A couple of big plays and turnovers kind of sucked the wind out of the Panthers. The Panthers still played a good game.I would like to see the stats for the game.I wouldn't be surprised to see that the Panthers had more total yardage than the Pirates. Both these teams have a fine chance to be in the finals and barring any injuries I think that is where you will find them come December.Good luck to all mountain teams the rest of the season and hopefully no injuries.

Perimeter defense, TO’s, and playcalling all combined to beat the Panthers tonight

Agree 100% my friend about the D-Line. If we dont get that fixed we'll never hang with the Boyles and Corbins.
