Beechwood @ Corbin 9/7
#91
Ummmm, I'm not the smartest cookie in the jar but it's gunna take more than starters to beat a team like Corbin.

You better have some depth or you will not leave with a W, I'm just gunna tell you that right now.

Corbin should win this game but I thought they would last year.....

People get caught up because numbers add depth. Ask Danville. At the end of the night it doesn’t matter how good your 11 is if they can’t hardly run. Numbers aren’t everything but it certainly does provide an advantage. Especially if you have 22 that can PLAY.

Corbin won’t beat beechwood because of lack of conditioning. I kept waiting for beechwood to fall off in the fourth quarter of last years game. It didn’t happen. I think the difference in this years game is that Corbin will make them defend the whole field. Corbin has the speed this season the take what they’re given and make you pay for it. They can stretch the field vertically, they can take a quick screen to the house with one missed tackle, and if you take to many out of the box they can gash you running the ball. I’m more interested to see the matchup between Corbin’s defense and beechwoods offense. I think they’re pretty good at making you defend the whole field as well. I don’t think beechwood will commit many penalties, it’ll be on Corbin to keep the penalties down. Last season there was a huge disparity in penalties, but I don’t remember any that I disagreed with. Beechwood was just more disciplined than the hounds last season.
I still think the hounds are extremely motivated for this one, and will bring their best game.

You can bet more than 11 will play.

No we won’t win because of conditioning but it will certainly play to our advantage. You can be in the best shape of your life and playing both ways 4 qtrs while the other is playing half that will show. Especially given that our offense plays the whole field. If you got a kid playing DB against us, he’s gonna run, and if he turns around the next series and is a WR he’s not gonna have a full tank.

I’m also intrigued by their offense vs our Defense. So far we’ve passed the test. We shall see

I'm calling it for Corbin...

I had someone to tell me in London today that Beechwood had 3 or 4 D-1 Players does anybody know if this is true. :pondering:

Hmmm. Sounds like they got some athletes. Still takes 11 though. And I’d put our 11 against anyone we’ll face this year.
Both teams appear to be improved from last year. I feel like Corbin had better talent and more depth last year, but, that was neutralized by home field advantage and a huge penalty disparity. The Tigers played a very good game last year and didn't make mistakes that hurt them, while the Hounds shot themselves in the foot a couple of times. This year, Corbin gets the comfort of playing on familiar surroundings and I don't expect the mistakes/penalties to be near as one-sided this time around. I like Corbin by 2 or 3 scores, but, the longer they allow the Tigers to hang around, the better chance the Beechies have..

Have you seen beechwood play? Beechwood will do just fine in this game. Sheesh.
Also, the officiating discrepancy in last years game was not what you perceive as “home cooking.” It was just officiating. Corbin didn’t lose the game because of officiating either. They lost because beechwood is an exceptionally coached football team with really good players. Pretty simple really.
Beechwood - 157
Corbin - 1 (xtra point but the TD was blocked)

....I don't really think this but just tryin' to see if any of you Corbin jackarses are awake? I'm bored.

Heeeelllllllooooooooo?!?! 😬
Beechwood doesn’t need to dress 70 players. 45 is enough. You can have depth with that.

Why are you getting so defensive? I don’t think anybody has accused beechwood of home cooking. The stat line doesn’t lie though. Beechwood was helped tremendously by the penalty discrepancy.
I noticed on another site that the owner of it has started a thread already asking if Beechwood will get a fair shake by the officials. That comes off to me as petty and classless. If anyone else started a thread like that there with their over sensitive and ridiculous rules, it would get deleted.

I don't care anything about Beechwood. This isn't a knock on their program. It's a general statement about football.

You better have capable bodies on the bench.
GameDay! Go Hounds!
Coach Haddix has been waiting on this one for a year, the hounds will be hitting on all cylinders tonight look for Estep to have another big game. I think this will be a test for our line on both sides of the ball to gauge themselves against one of the better teams in the state. Greer's defense will be lights out.

REVENGE WEEK
Corbin 28
Beechwood 14

Hahaha. What’s the kids say no days, “You serious bro?” Didn’t lose because of the penalties...... I guess it didn’t get light outside because the sun came up either? We MOST certainly lost because of the penalties. When you have two touchdowns called back because of holding 20 yards away and you lose by a touchdown. You could say you lost because of penalties. Otherwise we’d have a 7 point lead. And that’s on top of the other 18 or so “questionable” calls. Some were legit. But I find it funny as soon as we broke a huge run or pass off, here came the flags. Or a first down. It becomes noticeable when they don’t throw them on any plays but important ones. You can call it coincidence. but I’ll call it like I see them. Especially when there’s holding on every play and we got penalized by it when It wouldn’t have any effect on the actual play. Beechwood is still a great team. But it is what it is. 20 something to 1 penalties is just wayyyyy to big of a difference to call it otherwise

That guy and his site are literally a punchline. Simply the worst.

Riiiiiiight. Good luck tonight.

Not sure which game you watched, but Corbin did not have any TDs called back in that game last year.

I know for SURE they had one. I’m thinking they had two. But I know That one for sure was about a 60 yd touchdown called back for holding.

They did not have any TDs called back. I just rewatched back through that game.

3rd qtr I think. 60 something yard play.
But let’s say for the sake of argument that I agree with you. If you left corbin tonight with 20 penalties to 1. Would you say you got a fair shake? Especially given the timing of how they were thrown?
Hound05 Wrote:3rd qtr I think. 60 something yard play.

Again....I just watched the game and Corbin did not have any TDs called back.
That is a 100% fact, so don't try to fabricate some story to fit your narrative that Corbin was screwed by the refs.

The penalty total in that game was 13 for Corbin and 4 for Beechwood.

Almost half of Corbin's penalties were false starts. Another was a blatant personal foul where the Corbin player ripped a Beechwood kids helmet off and threw it after an interception, and that player was not ejected from the game.

These are facts from the game, not some hearsay BS that somebody heard from somebody's dad at the local barbershop.

Hahah yeaaaaaahhhhh. First off it’s not fact. It was 19 penalties. But I guess some dude hiding behind a computer screen posting something he “watched” is fact..... right. Who is the one trying to justify it to fit their narrative?? Hmmmm. I’m done arguing with you. I WAS there and we had one TD I remember 100% being called back. Pretty sure it was 2. #FACT. Seeeeeee yaaaaaaaa
