Current 15th Region D1 Prospects
#1
Who are the players and what D1 schools have actually extended a verifiable visits to them?
#2
I can't think of a single one honestly.

^ Trey James of SCHS has been on "unofficial" school visits to Louisville, Purdue, WV, Marshall, Xavier and Indiana that I know of and to NC, Duke and NC State while at some invitation only camp he was attending.

Being 6"10" will open a lot of doors for this kid.

I am sorry but if you've ever went to a game and saw this kid play and know the least about the game you can see that he is not even close to a D1 caliber player. 6'10'' is a dime a dozen in the NCAA and he has zero athleticism and offensive game.
If you cannot move or score, you are not even close to D1. Sorry guys.

I will take this bet any day of the week that he is offered and signs a D1 scholarship. He might not stay four years but he will he a D1 player.

Lol..So because he signs and goes for 3 weeks then comes back and plays elsewhere, this makes him "D1"? No.
The fascination with height is fine because a player this big doesn't suffice in the mountains often, but to label him D1 for his height alone is silly. If he, out of nowhere, develops a shot like big brother, then absolutely he could go places.
Until then, as it stands..... All he offers is height. Which is pretty standard in the NCAA.

For a young man with zero athleticism, Trey seems to be doing ok. Trey currently holds the KHSAA record for block shots with 258 and still has 3 more seasons to play, and he is tied at 17 block shots in a single game with 2 other players, he has had 2 games with 15 blocks, 1 game with 14 blocks and 2 games with 12 blocks. He was listed on the KHSAA Stat Leaders as #6 out of 20 top rebounders last year.

Trey James has proven he is more interested in winning a game than padding his own personal game stats and if you've seen hime play you would know it's hard for him to score if other players won't pass the ball, however that problem has now corrected itself.

He has been to 6 great schools for visits and I don't know of any high school coaches in the 15th region, the state or the country that wouldn't want a kid like Trey.

Trey James is a D! caliber player, he will sign with a Big Time D1 school, he is the real deal and most of all he is loyal to his family, school and teammates and is SCHS one and only "Super Cracker".

You've stated the obvious. He's huge and can block shots I know that, I've saw him play several times. I don't care if he is loyal to Sheldon Clark and I don't care if he has been on 100 visits. I said he can't score and he is an anchor of a player who displays no athleticism. That does not translate to D1 success.

Yes, Yes he can, Me too, He is, time will tell, only in your opinion, you are wrong!

Sorry, I misread your "extended verifiable VISITS" to say offer.

yes it does. If you sign a d1 scholarship then you are D1, regardless of how long you there for or not.

Really if you are offered a D1 scholarship and accept it or not but todays age everyone claims they are offered so you can't tell who is and who isnt

^ Elisha Justice went to Louisville and Landon went to Kentucky but I don't think they stayed 4 years, and I think they came back to UPike to finish their education, but I think of them as D1 players. Is my thinking on this matter wrong?

Help me out, what grade does a kid need to be in to get a official school visit or a scholarship offer?
#13
This kid is only 14 years old he is getting better
Saw him play this summer. He is working his butt off also. Was slowed this summer with a minor injury
#14
You have no clue
Get out and watch some basketball.

If you are talking about Trey James, he is 16 and a sophomore at SCHS and learning to drive in his dad's jeep...,scary LOL. Yes he had slight knee problem over the summer but he is now good to go. The Adidas AAU circuit is where the Big Boys play and they play hard and sometimes players get hurt. Trey does work hard on his game and big brother Dylan, is working with him daily on his out side shot and we all know Dylan James can stroke those 3.

I think they were both walk on at D1, i know Slone was and believe Justice was also. Justice was good enough be on scholarship and play meaningful minutes at a average D1 school though imo...just not UofL level. Justice may have been on scholarship the more I think about it, he was legit.

Admittedly I don't know the names of any current players on any 15th region team and maybe there is a future D1 player or two currently walking the halls of a 15th region high school but it would surprise me.

Breaking News.... John Calipari and UK extended a school visit today to Trey James. He will meet with Coach Calipari and the other UK coaches and then attend Big Blue Madness with his parents as their guest. Way to go Trey James.... I wonder why this school and coaches would invite him to Lexington for a school visit then front row seats for Big Blue Madness??????

Haters will always be haters

Congrats to Trey James. I hear he is working hard to get better.

That is great news for Trey James. If there are going to be D1 players come out of the region, it will be from the under classmen who are listed in some national rankings (not top fifty, so don't burn me at the stake). Fact check me please, but I believe Dingus, Hall, Fugate and Samons were all ranked really high on the freshman watch list. I could see one, if not more, of them going to some D1 school. Power Conference and D1 are two different things, we all need to remember that. For arguments sake, Morehead, Eastern Kentucky and Marshall are D1 but not Power Conference teams.

What national ranking watch list are talking about????

Hopefully not David and Darryl sports or Ky sports tv, i think this would be considered local coverage at best.

I've never saw Trey play, I watched Dylan play several games though, fine player. Nobody knows how Trey will develop by the time he's a Senior. If his coordination catches up with his height, who knows what he's capable of?

I don't understand an adult getting on a message board disrespecting a kid. He's trying hard to improve, haven't heard of him being in any trouble, leave him alone.

The 2022 freshman class has the best bet of D1 prospects. Paintsville with Fugate and Dingus pikeville with Samons Hall and Lockhart

Lol it's real funny..all of those players are ranked in the top 20 in the state in their class.

I'm not sure who it will be, but the 15th Region will produce a D1 prospect in the next two to three years. Maybe not someone will commit to a D1 school, but there will be a player who will draw significant D1 attention.

the only thing these “rankings” mean is you paid a lot of money to go to a 2 day camp

So are you saying the top players in ky arent really the best bc they just paid money to go a camp

[quote=SouthEast18] the only thing these “rankings” mean is you paid a lot of money to go to a 2 day camp[/QUOTE

Not all kids who are ranked, pay to go to camps however some do. I hear there are some elite national camps that are by invitation only and those camps pay the way for the kid and 1 other person (parent or coach) to attend the camp, and yes the kid gets national exposure from BIG D1 schools. I also hear there are a lot of different AAU programs out there and some programs draw more attention from big schools than others, and yes some of the players get free rides to play for those AAU teams and some AAU programs require mom and dad to pay the way for their kid.

I applaud any kid who works on improving their game and if their hard work gets them a state or national ranking then more power to them.
