Hahaha. Just go back and look. And as in this post corbin was brought up by a non-corbin fan.....
As for your 2nd posts. Weâre not concerned about district titles. Our measuring stick is a couple yards longer than that

All I know comes from second hand information, so I'm gonna leave your question for those who are better informed than I.
Have they won a championship or just a really top notch team who was always "right there"? I really do remember Middlesboro being in conversations but never ever got to see a single play.

smoke, I honestly cannot recall. But I do remember the years 2004-2007 when they were always in the mix and always gave a great game.

I can only imagine how good Whitley would be right now if they would have hired Dudley. I think its safe to say several kids currently not on whitleys roster would be.
Dudley with 50 plus upper classmen? I dont think that Corbin game would have went like it did.

From what I can gather Middlesboro is feeling the snow-ball effect of being re-districted into a division they cannot compete in. It has a big effect on the school and the kids when they know before the season starts what their conference looks like and what their playoff capabilities look like. When Frazier was here, LCA, Danville and Somerset were all down and that allowed Middlesboro some success. That has changed big time. Danville, LCA and Somerset have been rolling the past couple years to Middlesboroâs detriment.
Year-in, year-out, kids knowing what the conference and playoffs look like has taken a big toll. That kid that is somewhat into baseball or basketball suddenly becomes really into those other sports. There are kids not playing this year because they know the challenges Middlesboroâs schedule will pose.
I like seeing all area schools do well. You will see a drastically different result next year when Middlesboro moves into the new district which is much more in-line with the historical districts Middlesboro has played in. Through the 90âs and 2000âs when Middlesboro was rolling and taking deep trips into the playoffs they were beating the hell out of Mountain teams. Mâboroâs athleticism serves them well against regional âdistrictâ schools.
There are a lot of supposed Middlesboro âfansâ on here who canât stand the idea that this program can turn around immediately. As someone who has followed every game since 1981 I will tell you that it will.
So to answer your question Granny, the morale has been crushed by the current district IMO. Numbers will shoot up next year as well as morale and belief and we will see a much better result IMO.

You guys still struggle against teams like Pineville, Harlan and Claiborne Co. it has a lot more to do than your district. Middlesboro has the athletes. You guys need to hire a PROVEN head coach with success.

You sir have no clue as to what you are talking about. It is a big long EXCUSE. MHS has difficulty beating Class A schedule. When they get in the other district the play the very ones that put them out every year. Then play those others in playoffs. The answer is not to run from quality it is to become quality. This is what has happened here, we just want to use an excuse and run from quality opponents insead of developing what we have into quality team. The athletes are there. I watch a very good group of MHS players with great size and better that average speed get dominated by a better coached team. Wake up man, your kid and those around him should be doing so much better. That is the morale killer, they know it.

Granny asked a question and I gave my opinion. I no longer have a child on the team. Iâve only missed a hand full of games since 81 due to work. This program is down because of the district. Watch and see. Time will prove me right.
How many kids on baseball team play football? Can you answer that question?
In two years the answer to that question will be radically different and Middlesboro will be a district contender. It all goes back to morale and belief.
Have a good one guys, I argue with Betty too much to come here and argue in my free time.

^^nicker:
I had heard stories that some of the problem included mountain politics and favoritism. Being from Harlan County all my life, I do know how politics can cripple programs.

Middlesbrough has major problems in football it seems. I agree that being in that district has hurt, but they have had teams in the past who would rise to the challenge. I don’t know what it is really, but they aren’t showing any improvement.
