A nazi comparison that works

(AP)
“Tony Blair has warned that a return to the darkest politics of the 1930s is no longer a far-out prospect, after a rise in nationalist populism and the rejection of international alliances.”

If we know our history, Blair’s words make chilling sense.

Commonly referred to as the result of socialist liberalism...

Ah, socialist liberalism he says. Madeline O'Hare. Roe v. Wade. Watts. Rodney King. Rainbow on the White House. "Whose country is this any way?" The Constitution, written by white men, land-owning men. Men who may not have served God, but by god, they believed in God.

Immigrants have never been particularly welcome. "Whose country is this any way?" To whom does this country belong? Who are its benefactors?

The debate as to what the answer is to these questions rages now as it has always raged. When the answers are increasingly narrow, the ranks of the "wholesome and pure" shrink down, when a group who feels itself right and righteous also feels slighted, and anger grows, and animosity grows, well, Bob, Tony Blair nailed it. And his warning applies to any and all who want to narrow and narrow the blessings of liberty from a sense of "we are the true benefactors, and we are angry."

History's lessons are there for the learning.

That is about the most idiotic bunch of mumbo jumbo that has ever been posted on this site...

Even by your standards.

As judged by you, given your standards.

Comparing any non-socialist political system to National Socialist German Workers' Party (a/k/a "Nazi Party") never works. A more apt comparison is Nazism to the socialism embraced by American liberals. They are not quite the same (yet), but at least they are located on the same side of the political spectrum.

A rise in nationalistic fervor and exclusionary zeal, joined by inflammatory rhetoric that enflames and engulfs? Sorry, HG, the Swastika is a spirit that dwells in humanity before it becomes a policy visible.

WRITTEN BY WHITE land-owning men WHO ALL HAD SLAVES. SAYING THAT ALL MEN SHOULD BE CREATED EQUAL. POETIC ISNT IT?
