Fairview 2018

Thoughts and predictions?
#2
Whats the word Eagleland?
#3
My bet is they dont field a team this year
#4
Fred Ray appears to be looking at other opportunities, could that be the writing on the wall for the fate of the program?
#5
I take more out of the fact that clint and the boys from the scrappy wood have all but disappeared
#6
They all transfered back to huntington
#7
It’s really a dang shame that the people who caused this are not there to suffer the consequences. One is retired and the others somehow fell upwards to the best possible scenario in Lexington.

The people responsible have been a revolving door of fall boys imo. Music was the primary issue in the system. Actions of those put in charge, are reflective of their superiors and actions. Now, wrong is wrong, but the things that were wrong, were allowed to go on, with now knowledge of any wrong doing by a SI? Im sorry, but I dont by that. On to the thread topic....

Fairview had a roster of 30 or so last year and I think 15 or 16 were Sr players. With the number issues they had at the jr high level, will they even be able to field a varsity team this year?

I was told that as of right now they have 13 kids for football

This discussion has been ongoing for 2 years when everyone realized all the high school players were upperclassmen and the middle school could barely field a team. Not sure Fairview hangs on as a school much longer given the educational budget climate. You can bet the kids playing sports, all sports, are looking at other schools.

This is very sad!!! I hate to see this!! All small schools need to worry about their futures!
#12
I dont think fairviews issues stem from the current situation, but that sure doesnt help much.
#13
I sure do hope that the Eagles fly again this fall! Hate to see any school lose a team in any sport...especially small schools..
#14
The fall out of the football program is a bigger issue than what it even is on the surface. The school has been struggling financially and from an educational standpoint for years. When Fairview was at its prime on the gridiron, it was a boost for the school in many ways. Im a Ram to the deepeat corps of me, but to see the boys in the school system not have a fighting chance at playing a game they love breaks my heart.

Hearing Fred Ray resigned and forner Eagle QB Brett Cooksey is taking over the program. Any truth?
#16
Yes it's true . He'll not have time to coach so he had to step down . I can't elaborate any further , it's not my place to say why , but it's nothing bad .
#17
Sad situation. Hate it for these young men.

Ray may stick around as a special-education instructor. He is enrolled in online courses through Salem University. If he stays at Fairview, Cooksey wants Ray involved in the program.Ray said he’s not walking away from football, but he’s dedicating the bulk of his time to becoming a principal.

Credit to Aaron Snyder of the adi for the story.

Lot of young kids on there middle school team last couple years worried they may not continue to play bc they are solid in basketball with those guys and may not come back out for football

these have got to be the dumbest comments ever. Ramland predicting Fairview season outcome. lol did they mention Fairview came back to win at the last second in ramland in 2015. nope, they keep that hush hush. eagles will be fine and 29 for conditioning last week:welcome:
#21
they took that win away too. they found out the football was from Huntington.

And an even dumber comment bringing up a game from three years ago. They're talking about numbers NOW, not from three years ago.

No one wants Fairview to shut down. We want your numbers up so we can keep whipping you.

Paintsville had number problems in the not to distant past. They have bounced back nicely. Fairview could do the same.

Poor poor scairview beagles

No one ever wants to see a school lose one of there programs and they should have plenty to have one but will some tuff times headed there way to stay competitive
#27
Fairview graduated a lot last season. Noah King, the younger brother of Elijah King who played at Texas State, is the top returner. Another name on the roster is Jack Roy, younger brother of former standout Alex Roy. I just don't know if Fairview has enough depth to be very competitive this year. The Cooksey family coaches first job will be trying to get every boy in the school to come out for the team this summer. Hopefully the schedule isn't difficult.

I dont expect numbers to be a deal breaker for the program this year. but they only have 5 total sophomores and juniors returning from last year. the real issue is going to be after this group of 10 or so seniors are gone. how are the jr high numbers looking?
#29
The jr high had 15 to 20 looked has if some may had been 6th grade as well but in saying that the rams looked to only have 15 to 20 there self

much like Fairview in the past, Raceland can afford a few classes here and there with 10 or ao. because most of the time, the class ahead or behind them has large numbers. for a school Racelands size, to consistently put 50-60 and sometimes more on the team year in and year out is pretty remarkable. hopefully the hometown cooksies can get some of the kids out that u would expect to see. as i Raceland fan, i will never pull for the Eagles. but i hope to see Fairviews numbers rise, bc no kod, no matter where they go to school, should be denied the chance to play football.
