Paintsville 2018
#31
Kids rarely are the ones behind them transferring. It's more common in basketball or baseball because of playing on same travel or AAU team. Its almost entirely the parents who want their kid to go to said school.

The draw to any small ind. school is the immediate playing time. I don't care how good you are, if you're a freshman you will have to wait to play at bigger schools who are successful in football, strictly from a size and weight standpoint. But at smaller Ind. schools, you do not have to wait.

That would be the draw to me as a parent.

If you lived in and around Paintsville of course. I have no doubt both Paintsville and JCHS provide everything they can for their students to be successful both academically and athletically. But if you can have you 14 year old getting reps and PT at one school vs practice squad and Freshman/JV team at the other, give me the reps and playing time now. Plus, you don't have to physically move to send your kid to Paintsville or any Ind.

It's not just Paintsville. It's all the schools in this area that have people trying to get kids to go to the school they are affiliated with. Pikeville, Johnson Central, Sheldon Clark, Floyd Central right on down the line they all do it. No reason to just single out one.

Paintsville works the waiver wire like no other...

If their schedule stays the same as last year besides the WV team
Estill Co H
Harlan H
Fredrick Douglas A
Pikeville A
Williamsburg A
Lawrence H
Fairview H
Hazard A
Raceland A
Fleming Co H

I could see 2-3 L's regular season next yr.
2016 #3 and #23 only combined for 400 rushing yards as Jr's
Their Sr Season combined for around 1400 yards

Should see the same this year with some younger players mixed with veteran players in the back field. Along with unknown factor.

Defense will be strong point for the tigers. Upper Classman Linebacker and Defensive backs with a lot of playing time under their belt. Have to replace #3 on D Line but could see couple players filling in on D line plus another unknown factor.

Nice attempt at deflection but Paintsville blew by the number of players Hillard ever got long ago and they haven't looked back

I’m just saying don’t throw rocks when you live in a glass house.

I am confident Paintsville will put a quality product on the field. One that may even stay within 4 TDs of Pikeville!

Will Paintsville ever play on Thanksgiving weekend?

Probably not. Tend to play most of the games on Friday.

I'm hearing that Pikeville may be picking up 3 kids off the waiver wire. Anyone else hearing that?

I am hearing some current Blackcats maybe leaning that way unless they can hire a good coach.

What are they waiting for? Hire a coach already!

I am around some of the players a lot and haven’t heard that anyone new is there or coming. We will be the same team as last year with the except of two seniors that graduated and the incoming new freshman but these boys have been working hard and can’t wait until football starts. It’s going to be a good year of football when you look at the teams and what they have coming back. It’s who works the hardest and wants it the most who will end up in the championship game in Lexington

I am going to get this thread back on topic before Pulp the terminator, terminates it.Paintsville is going to be a very good team this year. Have one of the best linebackers in the region in my opinion and the quarterback who had a year to really get into the system last year plus a whole lot of other pieces. But they will have to travel to Raceland to win the district and that is going to be a stiff challenge. I know there is a lot of games before that but the playoffs is what it is about. Going to be a great year in high school football and with that said, GO PAANTHERS!!!!

East is Pikeville's to lose. They will be a big favorite. Injuries and defections could change this. Hazard was a big favorite last year. Paintsville, Raceland and Hazard will work their butts off to take advantage if Pikeville stumbles.
#50
Paintsville defense will win games this year. Offense has to step it up!!
#51
And look what happened an one unknown factor has arrived. Maybe more to come

If you don’t want to name names, I understand. But can we at least get positions they have played or might play? Thanks.

Sorry 2000Phs he is listed as a quarterback and dB went back and watched the film on LCA didn’t want to tell a lie but as usual go Panthers!!!

He is a QB.

I'm pretty sure he'll be a QB (& CB) at Paintsville. Not sure why you'd leave a starting spot at your favorite position with LCA to transfer and be a backup?

Nice addition to any team regardless of his position.

Moving from Lexington to Paintsville sounds like a parental decision and it is possible that the kid may not have had much say in the move. In situations like this I think it is easy to lose sight of the fact that these players are still teenagers. We have to remember that these are not college or pro level athletes who can make their own choices about where they live and that these decisions are often out of their control.

Sometimes.

Sometimes it's BECAUSE of their kids being put in a better situation somewhere else.

For the record, I personally don't care WHY the move, I'm all about the kids (and families) doing what they feel is the best situation for them.

I hope he kills it.

LCA is a sinking ship. I've been hearing of transfers OUT of that school for months......including the Head Coach.

As long as a transfer is done the right way (I am in no way saying that isn't the case here) I see no problem with families moving their kids somewhere that places them in situations where they can be successful. From a football standpoint I was just pointing out that a move from Lexington to Eastern KY is a huge move that may have been motivated by more than athletics. That being said, Paintsville has a solid program and if I were a parent moving to that area Paintsville would be one of the top places that I would choose.

What about the your QB from last year he was a freshman right ? Where’s the loyalty to him just gonna sit the bench now that a kid has found his way somehow from Lexington to Paintsville
