I liked the recent Tubby Smith rant about players transferring saying it is teaching them to quit. He asked his father if he could transfer while he was in school , and he told him no, but he could join the army.

If tubby were offered a better job today, he would be gone tomorrow. If you were offered a better job today, you'd be gone tomorrow. If I were offered a better job today, I'd be gone tomorrow. Loyalty to the organization is dead, and the organizations killed it. The second it helps the bottom line, companies lay people off, cut pensions, and slash benefits. Too many people have seen their fathers stay loyal do the organization for 50 years and in return they got a slashed retirement, a pat on the back, and a watch. Smart people pursue what sets them up to be the most successful in life. Smart parents pursue what sets their kids up to be the most successful in life. You cannot hold kids down because of their last name, or make a conscious effort to refuse to put time and money into half your programs and expect kids to stay. They're smart and they know when there is a better opportunity for them out there.

Corbin sweetened their own pot. Quit with the argument that kids/ parents are bettering themselves. I know of two kids in recent memory who were told they would get playing time under Jewell. Didn’t quite work out like that.

Knox ended the reciprocal agreement with Corbin a few years ago, then after getting inundated with calls from homeowners who lived in all of the new subdivisions just outside of Corbin that are in the Knox District threatening to petition the State to be moved into the Corbin District, the Knox Board changed their minds. They did not want to risk losing all of those property tax dollars that would have switched districts if those areas were switched to Corbin's School District. Now they have an agreement that caps the number of Knox District kids who can go to Corbin at 405 I believe.
