"From Phelps to Fulton." Not "From Pikeville to Paducah."
#1
We've all heard the saying "From Pikeville to Paducah". Before I get the eye roll emoji or something like that, I'm bringing this up because we are finally at district tournament time. So if you hear somebody say this, you'll know their wrong and you can politely give them the accurate information or just let it go knowing their wrong. Doesn't matter, it's your choice. I'm not using the schools closest to a state line, but the farthest schools, East to West, on the map. From the Mississippi River to the point where Virginia & West Virginia meet the tip of Pike County.

Phelps is the farthest high school in the Eastern part of the state.
Fulton County is the farthest high school in the Western part of the state.

If memory serves me correctly, Dawahares used this slogan in their advertising campaigns.

What’s the geographic location for Phelps? I thought it was East Ridge, only being 4 minutes from the VA line.

Phelps is about 5 Miles from WVa & less than 10 Miles from Va. it sits in that far eastern peak of Ky that borders WVa & Va

East Ridge is probably closer to VA. than Phelps, but the way Pike County is shaped, Phelps sits right in the point at the very Eastern tip.

While I know this is technically correct I think the difference is that everyone has heard of pikeville and Paducah. No offense to phelps or Fulton, but I would say that half of the people on the opposite side of the state have never heard of them or don't know where they're located if they have.

I totally agree that Paducah and Pikeville are much bigger cities.

Phelps and Fulton aren't known to most people outside of their immediate area.
