Why are the kids not playing at Whitley?

Being polite as possible, loss of confidence in goals of a coach. Couple of reason. His priorities have shifted to the success of a player and not so much as the team. Secondly, he has simply lost the trust that he cares about their futures in other sports. Simply put has made kids choose and they didn’t choose basketball.

Itâs high school. Play all the sports.

The top team in the state has several multi-sport stars.

exactly right, and the coaches should support it.

I know for a fact that Whitley's Coach embraces multi sport kids. He doesn't persuade them in any way to pick one sport.

I like this Corbin team

Not bad.

Look no farther than in his own house , among others. You are wrong for a fact, he told my kid in a round about way, FACT. It kept him from playing another.

Colleges are wanting athletes that played multiple sports in high school anymore. Something close to 90% of D1 athletes played multiple sports in high school.

is it also a fact that you are in the building?

I'm in a lot of building.

You know what they say about opinions.

Have to take side of coach. He and many of his players tried to get some kids that played other sports to keep playing basketball, however some of the players decided to focus on football and baseball scholarship opportunities rather than playing a sport they had no chance of a scholarship and risk injury. Also believe our kids will give a better effort at home against Corbin Thursday, just so hard to win at Corbin.

No I'm not wrong. Your kid took what ever the round about way was wrong. The individual in his house hold made that decision on his own. Also if that individual is in his household it doesn't matter what anybody else has to say about it. It's between that family. Just like it was your family decision for your son not to play. No one or no coach is going to tell what my son can play or not play. That's my choice. Don't pass the blame on what happens in your house. Coach Overbey has had a lot of multi sport kids. This year was just a slim year. Most of the kids that didn't play are 3 sport kids and that is very time consuming for any kid.

You really havenât talk to anyone that knows about his house. That is ok, you keep believing that. Last year , it is over. Resign or dismissal take your pick. 12 kids on 3 teams. No freshmen team, JV and Varsity has 12 kids? This program is in the can. I tried to be polite but truth needs to be told and I told it.

But I have. I know exactly. Great job. Mr. P

PM out of respect for kid.
02-07-2018, 05:29 AM
You really have not clue. That shows how much you truly know. The kid worked all summer to pay for his own car. Also paying for his own insurance. So he had the choice to play. Po well now.
02-07-2018, 05:36 AM
Now you want to be respectful. Lol
02-07-2018, 05:42 AM
Arguing a mute point, his time as coach will soon come to an end. Best of luck the remainder of season.
02-07-2018, 05:47 AM
I'm sure if that is true he will make the most of it and move on the greener pastures. I support the entire Coaching staff. they have been nothing but positive and supportive to my MULTI SPORT son.
02-07-2018, 05:53 AM
Community wishes he would make the most of it , 8-18 is not really doing it for us.
02-07-2018, 05:55 AM
Hope he is back, works extremely hard with the kids tough enough to play for a tough coach. We don't need a change so the soft kids can come back.

The Colonels have played one of the toughest if not toughest schedules in the 13th Region. They are getting better every game. Like I said I support everything they are doing and I am part of the community.
