Final from Manchester. Clay tried to hold the ball in a tie game. Whitley County stole it and took the lead (56-54) with 16 seconds left. Clay Co. scored 5 points in the final 16 seconds. A Farmer jumpshot tied it and a banked in 3 at the buzzer by Curry won it. Tough loss for the Colonels.

Glad the Tigers won but itâs almost not enjoyable. Rough basketball...

At this point, I think that it's easier to count "people who think the coach really knows what he's doing".

I couldnât comprehend what I was seeing. We were never really good but weâve regressed.

A lot of people from the old guard who know what they're talking about and could help them win. I'd imagine that they want Clay County to be successful and not a hot dumpster fire, but choosing to generally ignore those types and do it your own way can go badly... like sitting at .500 badly.

I know. Thereâs also the âlet the young players struggle this year to build for the future.â When the Tigers had some veteran players this year who at least played hard.

Sometimes it's tough to mix the younger and the older players. The older ones don't like to sit and it causes trouble. I had heard a couple left, but then they played the next game. The worst thing you can do is be average with older players and then replace them with more older players the next year.

Really tough when the furthest you've been in the regional tournament was the one time you went to the semis and lost to Barbourville on a home floor that your program was seemingly invincible on.

There is no passion from our sideline whatsoever. Very little speaking, no fire, lots of sitting, letting certain players do as they please while others get an ear full or taken out after minimal mistakes. Average crowds. Yes, this is not a really good Clay County team. However, itâs better than 11-10.

Congrats to Tiggers on big win.

You hit the nail on the head.........there isn't any passion with this group. It's normally I catch and I shoot.....no excitement.....no anything......the student section is gone......besides a few die hard clay fans and parents......the stands are empty......Something has got to change........no reason this group of guys should be playing this bad.....IMO it starts with the coaching......from what I'm hearing there is a lot of behind the scenes drama going on and that is never good for any team. I've said it a thousand times and I'll say it again......Clay messed up when they let politics get in the way and ran off one of the best coaches in the region. I guess you do reap what you sow........I don't think people realize if something don't change this could really be a year in which Clay doesn't even make it out of district.

Exactly, it starts on the court then to the bench and then to the stands as far as excitement. The teams were above average when I was in school but we had fun and good sized crowds. I like all of our coaches personally but they just don't have that exterior passion that high school kids need. Clay County will have a good run and it sounds like an AAU game from the sideline. I know the crowds were bigger a couple years ago and that was largely due to guys like McDaniel, Smith, Farmer, Wolfe, etc. being exciting players. Just give me a "Let's Go!" "Good D!!!" or something. Haha Even Spurlock and Marcum would throw their hands up every now and then.

I saw a couple of games and that was enough for me. I catch and I shoot pretty much sums it up. Freshmen or not, they don't appear to be improving and that has to go back to coaching. The coach can be the best there is at Xs and Os but if he can't manage the players, motivate and carry out a game plan then he's not much help.

Big win?
Only during the Glenn Gray era would a home win over a 6-16 Whitley County team that came off of a three-pointer banked in from half court would it be considered a "big win".

I'd bet lots it wasn't Perry County Central.
Gotta keep that record at or above .500 any way possible.
You know Glenn isn't scared of a bus ride with all the people he's thrown under one.
