What is the difference between this all state list and the one that came out about a month ago by the courier journal?

This one is The Associated Press Kentucky High School Allstate Team

Congrats to all these athletes

I am sure all these kids are deserving and extremely talented, but I have a question. Does a young man deserve this recognition if he doesn't play in more than half his teams games? Injuries are part of the game in my opinion and unfortunately eliminate you from this honor. Other talented kids were on the field the whole season and left off.

Hate for anyone to suffer a injury but like you said part of the game. As for others talented I agree but they only have first and second team, participation trophies ended in peewee football. These young men excelled and received votes for there accolades on the field. I don’t know who was injured and I don’t want to but they had to stand out in the games they played, exposure is the key.

Respectfully disagree with you bossdaddy. Kentucky football is above average nationally, but some awards are given based upon preseason expectations and scholarships offered. No player in any state deserves 1st or 2nd team allstate by playing in 2 of 10 regular season games. Case and point, look at Dobbins of Ohio State and Jacobs of Alabama, both missed most if not all of their high school senior seasons. Still got recruited, but neither Texas( big difference between Kentucky) or Oklahoma (very comparable) put them pn allstate teams.

So your saying that a kid who has a scholarship, or was high talk in preseason are more favored for post season awards regardless of performance during season. Wouldn’t those same kids have been exposed to have committed, or earned there preseason expectations. This is a tick for tack conversation, but I’ll say that quality is still more valuable than quantity. They may have made the best of there limited opportunities, I wouldn’t want to discredit any of those kids accomplishments. Congrats to them

Also want to add that a few years back Damian Harris didn’t play every down to prevent risk of injury, some games only played six or seven plays but on those plays he would rack up a couple hundred yards rushing, look at him now. He also missed about a third of the season, if I recall correctly. I may be wrong, but he was very deserving of all he has received. If your child was a preseason stud and got hurt and came back in playoffs played all out, received exposure and was on that list you mean to tell me you would tell him he didn’t deserve it.

Congratulations to Pikeville’s Bradyn Hunter as well, for his Honorable Mention selection.
