I can see this actually because if Bath County and West Carter are for sure not in then Mason County and East Cater will for sure be. Thatâs geographically as solid as any on here. Nearly all border the other. The AA Highway district.

Thing is we don't know who is going to move because schools have not been asked to submit anything yet about playing up. The article was "potentially" I would be shocked if they stayed in 5A though no good reason for them not to drop. JMO I don't know or would not even pretend to know what they will do.

No thereâs some sort of rule that prevents them from being 4A. Donât know the exact rule.

I was just giving my opinion based on travel situations and what made sense. Very possible that situation would never happen. Where to put Estill and Powell wasnât the hardest decision, because they can actually go several different places and be ok with distance. Hard part is finding where to put people that are so far away from everyone. I thought i did a decent job at that. In the end People getting paid will make the final decisions that make more sense...

Harlan County has 5A numbers, that is the good reason they stay. The are not on the list as to move down. According to that they will have to stay 5A.

I think every school should play where they are placed. Travel is what it is. Football plays on Friday night and unlike other sports, kids do not go to school the next day. Playing up and thus having teams volunteer to move down would be eliminated. Only talking about 4-5 games a season travel wise.

4- Adair, Taylor, Casey, Glasgow, Hart Co

6- Bell Co, Jackson Co, McCreary, Wayne Co
7- Mason Co, Fleming Co, Lewis co, Pendleton Co, Russell, East Carter
8- Belfry, Pike Central, Floyd Central, Lawrence Co, Magoffin Co, Morgan Co
Since Henry and Franklin border and to balance the sides move Western Hills to D2. Geographically solid. Other than that looks good as it can.

Harlan County would be the 8th largest 4A school according to the list of schools ranked by 4 year male enrollment numbers.

Good call, that was an oversight on my part. I had looked at scenarios at pulling someone else in that district and couldnât find one that made a lot of sense to me. But, thatâs the right fit.

With all due respect to NCC. I am a little saddened by Beechwood leaving 1A. It closes a chapter on Pikeville vs Beechwood...Hopefully we can meet in Lexington one last time...

Potential 4A, I understand some of these teams may request to play up and some 3A teams may request to play up in 4A. Just going off of possible new additions based on what was released. District 3 5th place would play as 4th place in district 1.
1- Calloway co, Hopkins co, Madisonville-North Hopkins
2- Allen Co, Franklin Simpson, Warren Central, Warren East
3-Breckinridge, John Hardin, Valley, Western, Waggener

And I think you'd see Glasgow, Adair, Hart, Taylor be district 2.
Making the E-town, LaRue, Bardstown, Nelson and Thomas Nelson in a region with the Murderer's row district of Central, DeSales, Cal along with Henry and an added Western Hills.
If I'm Paducah Tilghman; I'm petitioning to move to 4A.
4A D1 with Logan and Hoptown both moving up is just a 3 team district with Calloway, Madisonville & Hopkins Central. Tilghman geographically and to make a 4 team district would make sense. Their route to a state final would also be more viable.
If I'm PT; I'm writing in to go 4A right now if they haven't already submitted it.
3A West is a gauntlet as is & it just became even more of one with CAL & DeSales coming to the park to play.

I don't think anybody in 4A is going to request to play up. Highlands isn't going to want to battle CovCath if they don't have to. I didn't see them in your alignment, probably just oversight, but go ahead and obviously thrown them into D7.
As I said in the other post; PT needs to petition to go 4A right now

Anybody want to pick 5 teams to represent the new 2A in the finals and/or the state champs in that class for the 19-22 years and give everybody else the field?
I will:
Mayfield

Danville
LCA
Beechwood

Oversight on my part. My 4A was half effort compared to 3A. Iâve already noticed a couple changes I would make.

Meant to say that I have it on pretty good authority that there has been some oversight in 3A on the KHSAA part:
1) Fort Campbell is in 2A ( I think they noted that, but a typo here).
2) Wayne County to stay 4A
3) Greenup to 3A
The 101st being 2A doesn't effect 3A-D1; still 4 teams. Now if PT petitions to go 4 & they get it; then that clouds things potentially.
Wayne County going 4A could and would probably take Casey from D4 and move them back to the company they are with right now as is in D6. That would still make D4 and D6 four team districts.
Greenup going 3A would make things interesting. Where do you put somebody from D7 and D8 unless one of them offered to move up to 4A; which could be a possibility.

Mighty shaky limb your out on there......pretty much a safe bet to go with anyone of these in several classes to win a title.

That wasn't meant for being out on a shaky limb.....dang right all 5 of those would be a safe bet to compete for/win titles in other classes.

Am I missing something with Harlan County? I read the article released and it did not mention them moving. I assume the KHSAA has the numbers? I would think they would know a little something? Maybe, LOL. Maybe it has something to do with projections of new schools that keep them in 5A instead of just looking at this years numbers? Please explain why they would not be listed in article as to be potentially moving down if they had 4A numbers?
