You can't argue with KC being No. 1 at this point, but I've seen some AWESOME December teams lose in March.
Harlan won three regional championships in the 1990s (93, 95 and 96), but its best team was 94 (a Mr. Basketball and three all-staters) and they lost in the regional semifinals. Corbin may have also had its best team of that era that year and also lost, in the first round, I think.

I wouldn't say Corbin choked at any point in recent years. Harlan County had the better team in 2016.
Harlan County played a bad game in the regular season against Corbin last year and had one of its best players not at 100 percent. Both teams were great in the finals, but HCHS was a little better.

Harlan County has had the better team the past two years.

The best teams don’t always win and it not hard most of the time to know who the best team is unless you are a Corbin fan. They are the best and if they lose well we know how that goes. Just look back at the post from the beginning of the season. Will the panthers win the region , I like their chances but like I said the best team doesn’t always win. The reason most say Corbin choke is because their fans scream they are the best and if the Best continue to lose then you get that label, choke.

Last yr region game that Corbin sent Knox home packing....LOL....you must not been in the stand watching that game either because if I recall that was some heavily home cooking in the Corbin n Knox region game last yr.. That's why Corbin loves the region being played at the Corbin arena their always a little home cooking in the back yard..
2. I'm sure the Taylor kid is a great kid but it was in plain view #32 n Knox kid was in a tie up ball on the floor and the whistle was blown and the play was stopped n the #32 Taylor kid in plain view threw a sucker punch right to the Knox Central kids face n landed it on the cheek ...
3. That's how Corbin has always played in the past yrs and still in the future yrs they try to bring football to a basketball game if their getting beat. it's always an excuse for them they r getting a uncalled officiated game.

Since this thread is hopelessly off topic, I will add my two cents worth.
I think good sportsmanship doesn't exist in Corbin. I'm sure I am the only person living in Corbin that absolutely detests Coach Petroski.
He leads this team, and their behavior is mirrored from their coach. Even if the game is called toward Corbin, he has to show boat. God help us if we get a bad call. Then all hell breaks loose and the kids are not disciplined enough to help themselves.
My son will never play for him!

But if i recall people made the same statements about corbin not being able to contain knoxâs athleticism last year and corbin sent knox packing last year. I responded directly to your statement about how you claim âcorbin has choked the last 3 yearsâ and it makes sense you would avoid most of that. Besides last year, corbin was never in the talk to win region âthe last 3 yearsâ. Last year before region knox and corbin was the talk, even though hc shouldnât have been shadowed, and hc played a perfect game to win region. Your other talk is nonsense.
lol.

Yeah, Corbin, classy program with a classy coach. Not.
Taylor and others on that team are known for jawing and starting crap with opposing players. I've heard word that they tried some crap with JJ Ramey from South Laurel earlier this year.

Where exactly in my post does it say we were cheated, or that anything was taken from us. My post speaks to how long players weren't on the floor. If Knox has to play the second quarter with turner and martin on the bench and turner can't drive the ball in the fourth quarter how much do you think Corbin wins by? Anyone who knows anything about basketball knows that being in foul trouble effects the game of someone who drives the ball well. Any coach worth his salt would tell his kids to try to take a charge if Taylor drives the basketball in that situation. Congrats KC, enjoy your moment. Corbin will have theirs in march.

You are making excuses. Your guys were in foul trouble because they can't guard. That's part of being better than your opponent. Unless Corbin somehow gets quicker and more atheletic, I don't see much difference in the outcome of they meet in March. It would take KC having a terrible night to lose to Corbin.

Corbin needs to show better composure, they can't allow things that the other team may be saying or doing affect the way they play or affect their own actions. They play much better when just playing the game and not getting involved in the gamesmanship.

Knox did play the 2nd with Turner on the bench. Adams stepped up and carried Knox. While Taylor was out, Corbin looked really really bad and nobody stepped up.

Knox Central Jaylen Adams in my book is a top 5 player in the region. :worthy:

I didnât go to the game lastnight had to stay home but did listen on radio and posted updates......I got one question to BGR posters who was at the game, did anybody get ejected from the game. ........Just curious because I believe the radio guys mention several player names twice for getting a techinal What are the. :rules: because I believe everybody was still playing at the end of the game...........Heck I maybe wrong but want be the first time :partyhard

How did you know Markelle Turner would transfer from Barbourville?

He threw an elbow during the rebound
01-01-2018, 05:41 AM
The boy from LCA stood up. He had 22 points and several assists. If he didn't show up KC would have beat Corbin by 30 points. Taylor wasn't on his game but kept shooting. He had 24 points but was a non factor in the end

It is sad how a game turns kids to enemies. Parents and coaches feed this mentality as I am chief among the guilty here. Having sports in the rear view for my sons gives me a different perspective. I regret much and nothing more than the over value I put on games. KC is a more talented team and clearly better than Corbin this year. But instead of high effort and great talent being congratulated it is attacked. See Twitter for "thug" comments. Unfortunately that is not unpredictable.

That is just another example of the sportsmanship Corbin displays at any game, any sport, when things don't go their way. NO Sportsmanship whatsoever. What is most shocking is the Old Corbin coming out in some with these twitter comments.

Lol. Taylor sat out 3 minutes maybe. Turner was on the bench the end of the 1 st quarter and the whole 2nd quarter. Did you even go to the game?

Taylor went out with five minutes left till the half. Stewart was out longer than than. That's a long time to be without your two leading scorers. Like I said before, congrats to the panthers, and enjoy your moment. There are possibly two more games to be played this season. We'll see how those go, I know I'm looking forward to them.

I agree with most of this post. Kids are taught by their parents to hate other kids because of what school they go to. There is only one school in this area that everybody hates though. I wonder why that is? The "thug" comments are without a doubt ridiculous and not indicative of 99% of the Corbin fan base. Defending what that kid did on the other kid did is just as ridiculous though. Grabbing a kids jersey and throwing him to the ground isn't a high effort play by any stretch of the imagination.

Iâve seen the film on the game and all Iâve been hiring is thugs and bad sportsmanship showed by the KC team! I seen to different plays by both teams one was a player pulled down by jersey, witch in a rivalry game wasnât terrible but was not smart in the same and then a tie up that ended in punches thrown. The rest of the game was not that bad at all. So why is Corbin people so upset?

Unfortunately social media is an outlet for many to attack and cajole. There was much UGLY in this game that violates principles of sportsmanship that we hope 6 year olds are learning at YBA ball. Parents and coaches will decide if Jan 19 is an improvement or further descent toward chaos. Games reveal instead of build character by the time you play Varsity. We shall see who improves in the category that matters most.
