Big time win for Corbin down in Florida. Beats the #1 5A team in Pennsylvania.

Great win on a neutral court, Congrats Corbin :worthy:

Mars has the #80 ranked player in the nation by ESPN, Robby Carmody, who is a Notre Dame commit.

Great win! I guess that would make them the #3 ranked team in the 13th region?

The number 1 in 5A is not all of Pennsylvania. Its still very nice win but Pennsylvania breaks their basketball down into numerous districts inside the classes. Mars #1 ranking is actually in the WPIAL which stands for Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League. It includes teams from 9 counties around the Pittsburgh area. But before being ripped as a hater.....It was a nice win. Mars has a senior kid, Carmody, 6'4 thats signed with Notre Dame. Said he fouled out today with 30 points and only played about 15 mins. Andrew Taylor had 36 points.

Also don't see why they turned down the King of the bluegrass tournament to go to Florida for 2 games.

Makes no sense at all.....if in fact theres only two games for Corbin at this tourney and the bracket online shows Corbins next game as Friday against Upson-Lee from Georgia in the championship game. Maybe they have a fill in game tomorrow against someone just to get a 3rd game?

Coaches make the schedule, free trip to Florida over the break. School money, lets go to FLORIDA.
I get it!!!
Same reason baseball will travel that far to play Kentucky schools. At least BB is playing other schools.

That's definitely true. Never understood going across the country to play teams from your state. Lol. Usually not very good teams either.

No way I travel to Florida for two games if true. Just me though. Some I sure would love it

Maybe because he wants to get his team all together and away from the outside world. That way they can come together as a team, and cut way down on distractions. I wouldn't criticize too much. He is by far the best basketball coach in the region.

I didn't realize there was no outside world in Florida. With two kids shooting all the shots, I wouldn't ask them to come together to much. Just ask some parents. I definitely wouldn't label him "by far the best coach in the region" either. Given the same talent I'd take Dinky Phipps over him any day.

Lol. I thought this team was # 1 in the state. I seen they were ranked 127th in the state on max preps. Iâd also say if the Carmody kid didnât foul out they would have took the Loss. They were up big when he fouled out. A win is a win.

You always know the Corbin haters are going to come out when Corbin gets a good win. âIf this, if thatâ. Better to have a reason to be hated that be irrelevant.

Ive heard a lot of crazy things.
Saying you'd take any coach in the 13th over Pietrowski is the craziest.

Alright, so honest question.
What does this Carmody kid have that is better than Taylor?
One is going to Notre dame. The other is going to furman.
Are there intangibles to his game that makes him a better player to get more exposure or is it the fact that Taylor is stuck in Corbin and nobody knows about him?

Nice win for Corbin against some really solid competition. I doubt Taylor is getting anywhere near the exposure of Carmody but at the same time going to a place like Furman maybe the best fit for him. Furman played at Tennessee today and was leading all the way till the last minute in Knoxville. Solid mid major program for sure.

I read that as saying that Dinky Phipps may be the best coach........not as taking any coach in the region over Pietrowski.

One would think that Taylor being stuck in Corbin and Coach P avoiding higher profile tourneys with Taylor has hurt with him being seen from bigger schools and getting more attention as Mr basketball. Taylor does play at high level in AAU and what I've read about him from the recruiting gurus has been questionable athleticism and speed to play at the highest level college. I still find it hard to believe that if Taylor had taken the same road as Braxton Beverly that he couldn't had the same success as Beverly. Both are very Talented kids.

If he could play defense he would be more appealing to high level college coaches. If you canât guard you canât play at the bigger schools period. Anybody can score but only the better kids can play defense and score.

Lol. What exactly has Patterson done at Knox? If you give Dinky the same talent as coach P, there's no doubt he would do better. Funny thing is, they begged Dinky to come to Knox before Patterson.

Youâre right heâs just another coach that went 27-6 his second year been ranked in the top 20 his last two years in only a 3 year tenure. I guess you should be coaching. Lol

I forgot to mention a schools first ever WYMT Championship in his 3rd year ever. Lol

I saw two Pennsylvania state-wide rankings. Mars was unranked in one and 23rd in the other.
