NEWARK, Del. -- No. 9/8 Notre Dame got back on track on Saturday evening, picking up a 92-68 road victory at Delaware to improve to 8-2 on the season. Four Notre Dame players finished in double figures in the scoring column, as the Irish had too many weapons for the Blue Hens to contain in the win.
The Notre Dame backcourt was impressive in the sold-out road environment, as senior Matt Farrell poured in 24 points and fellow guard T.J. Gibbs added 21 to carry the Irish. Senior preseason All-American selection Bonzie Colson also stuffed the stat sheet, recording a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
The matchup was unique for a number of reasons. The contest was Glenn and Stacey Murphy Head Men's Basketball Coach Mike Brey's first back at Delaware since he roamed the Blue Hens' sideline as the head coach from 1995-2000. The matchup also pitted Brey against his former player and assistant coach Martin Inglesby, who took the reigns of the Delaware program last season.
