WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) -- Hawaii News Now is reporting actor Jim Nabors passed away Thursday morning at the age of 87.
The actor was best known for his role as Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show and also starred in his own show.
Nabors was on The Andy Griffith Show for four seasons before his character went on to join the Marines.
He was born in Alabama and was also known for his storied career as a singer. Nabors recorded 28 albums and scored 5 gold and 1 platinum record, according to TMZ.

I believe Ron Howard is the only surviving cast member of the show now.
