Cov Cath vs. Madison Southern (5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP)

ironfist13 Wrote:Are we gonna act like Madison Southern would of been in the state finals if not for the "Playoff " rotation this year..? I mean they had a pretty easy road to get to the semi state.
In a normal year they meet Cov Cath in Region, maybe Semi and its over there. Clark has done a good job getting the program to breathe on its own but he has some major luck involved with it to. I guess its better to be lucky than good.... Cov Cath by alot.

I don’t think anybody disagrees with that...but they have taken the most of the opportunity...which is all you can ask.

Cov Cath with a running clock.

In a normal year. Whats normal when they change every year? They play the Highlands/CovCath district every third year. Last year they played the Bullitt/Oldham district. In the semis our region always plays the 7/8 winner. 7/8 doesn't rotate, only 3-6. So actually Cov Cath/Highland are on the west 2 out of 3 years. Mad South is always East. Mad South did what it took to get to the the Championship and that is all that matters bottom line.

Southern will struggle after this SR class and JR class is gone. While the Central has some classes coming up with potential. At least that is what D. Hensley has said.

MS will struggle losing this SR class. They a very small JR class, I only think of 3 JRs that start. They do start 5-6 SOs. MS has to develop a QB, but their soph line could be one of the best in the state in 2 years. Losing the youth league along with poor middle school coaching will catch up to them eventually

FarristownFlyer Wrote:Then you don’t know football in this area very well. Damien was known state wide at Madison Middle as a 7th grader, ask anybody who coached at Madison Middle or Central around that time...they’ll tell you.

Don't know FB in this area?? Lol. Damien did bring excitement to MS, but they didn't really know who Damien was until at least 6th grade. By then these kids had battled against each other in the Berea league, which at the time was doing good. Then a few went on to play for I think it was the Yarddogs for 1-2 seasons. Then several played together for the MadCo Warriors. Both the Yarddogs and Warriors played every weekend against the best Lexington teams, Rocks teams, in tourneys around the state. By the time they were in the 6th grade they had 50-60 games played against good competition. Though Damien influenced MS big time. It was a group of Will Rodgers, Tony McCreath, Achee Eads, and a few others that had these boys loving FB b4 they knew Damien.

That player. That coach. Doesn’t matter. Cov Cath with a running clock

I watched Cov. Cath play Lexington Catholic early in the year and I was amazed. The only team in the state of Kentucky that could beat them is Trinity. Southern is a very good team, it’s sad they have gone this far to have no shot...I will add this...Mark Stoops should offer Carter Smith right now from Southern. A kid who can play at that level and won’t act like an ass like the kid from Kentucky did yesterday against Louisville.

No offense to Madison southern....but Covington Catholic might not call off the dogs. It's the state championship and the culmination of what they've been working towards. It might get ugly and not let up.

The only thing that will stop Cov Cath from scoring 60 points will be a running clock. The coaches brother has been sick and possibly dying. They have dedicated the season to him. They will show no mercy.

He's not dying. He's fighting because he's one helluva fighter. Believe that.

If Southern won it would be the biggest upset in KHSAA history.

I agree with this.

I have seen them play twice. And watched 4 other video of games. This team is the best team in at least a decade in NKy. Why? The great Highlands teams never had a defense like this one. Offenses might compare. But not on defense. This team has put a running clock on every Ky team they have played. And their 1st team defense has only allowed 2 touchdowns all year. Highlands best Mueller teams would be hard pressed to beat this team. Due to the defense. Highlands defenses were average compared to this one. Highlands theory was if they score 40. We will score 50. So 50 you say. Not even close against this team. Might be a couple good games. But Cov Cath wins

I'll be there both days...gonna tailgate Saturday...I am bringing a TON of food and "good beverages". I will share food but not the drinks. I always tailgate in Blue lot during UK games so I am going to try my best to get my usual spot. Look for a UK tent and several Mad South fans. Gonna be a HUGE hill to climb but I'm gonna make Saturday awesome win or lose...come by and say hi.

Is there any option where Eddie and the kids win, but the pompous fans lose? Asking for a friend.

I know one thing, this has been a fun ride!! Win or lose Saturday night, Madison Co. is proud of the Eagles. I would be willing to bet that Madison Southern will leave it all on the field come Saturday. Good luck Coach Clark and the Eagles!!! I hope for a good and injury free game.

I was talking with a former teacher from Madison southern and he was extremely complimentary towards coach Clark. He Thought the world of him. Coach Clark's building of the football program speaks for itself.

You and your friend need to get a life! "pompous fans lose" What kind of person would write this?
#59
Well, it's game day!!

Win lose or draw, Madison Southern made it to the state level and will play for the championship!! THAT, in itself, is a huge accomplishment!!

Good luck to both teams for an injury free contest.

I hope Madison Southern brings the sledge hammer with them and pounds it on the field, just to rile Cov Cath up a little more.
