Madison Southern fans— would Coach Brumley have had this success if he stuck it out?? Or was his exit the reason Madison Central is where it is??

Obviously I meant, “his exit the reason Madison Southern is where it is.”

I think the best the Eagles can hope for is to avoid a running clock until somewhere in the second half. Would love to see them shock the world, but don’t see any chance of it.

Who knows...but Damien Harris would have never been at Southern...Coach Clark stole him from Central...most in Berea wont admit this but that kid gave Southern life and got kids interested in football.
#19
I’ll also say this...if a kid in Madison County wants to play football COME TO SOUTHERN...Madison Central will never and has never competed in 6A and they have had some really good teams.
#20
no way with Brumley. Jon Clark built this program to what it is now.

No doubt Coach Clark has and does a fabulous job, not saying that at all...and I honestly feel he’s a top 5 coach in this state, but as Brumley left, Southern got a turf field, indoor facility/football only weight room, new locker room etc. Southern has better facilities than all small colleges in Kentucky. I have no clue if previous coaches tried to push for these things but it built incentive for kids to come out. And if Damien Harris never shows up then Southern is never on the map except for some good years here and there. Southern will stay on the map now because they have the facilities to keep the train going. Don’t really know Coach Clark that well but no doubt he’s doing a fantastic job.

I disagree with the Clark / Harris comment. Most of this senior class and several of the underclassmen came up thru a Berea youth football program that was loaded with talent for several years. No one knew who D. Harris was in 2008-2010 when these seniors and underclassmen were playing pee wee football. We also have several who played in Richmond. Harris was a senior when these boys were Freshmen. Both Foley and Farristown had good size rosters of players of kids who had been playing for many years at that point. I credit their parents for good coaching at young ages and building the back bone of this program and Jon Clark taking them from their freshmen year and building a masterpiece of a power football program in Berea, Ky.

Damien was great for Southern but these seniors would be playing football for Jon Clark no matter where Damien went to high school.

"Stole" him from Central sounds a little bitter to me. I have never heard the "stolen" story. I'd love to hear it in person though. -Todd Quintin

Then you don’t know football in this area very well. Damien was known state wide at Madison Middle as a 7th grader, ask anybody who coached at Madison Middle or Central around that time...they’ll tell you.

I saw him play basketball and football in middle school. we have just heard separate stories about how and why he arrived at Southern I suppose.

Are we gonna act like Madison Southern would of been in the state finals if not for the "Playoff " rotation this year..? I mean they had a pretty easy road to get to the semi state.
In a normal year they meet Cov Cath in Region, maybe Semi and its over there. Clark has done a good job getting the program to breathe on its own but he has some major luck involved with it to. I guess its better to be lucky than good.... Cov Cath by alot.

From what I know about the future of the madison county schools both of them. At least what I have been told by some middle school coaches... Southern will struggle after this SR class and JR class is gone. While the Central has some classes coming up with potential. At least that is what D. Hensley has said.

Central never has consistently played 6A ball...and won’t

6A is tough. Bad thing for Central is they win 1 or 2 playoff games and there sits Scott County. Then St.X and Trinity always rule whatever regions they are placed in.

Southern is losing several 4 year starter skill players this year. Both sides of the line are dominated by Juniors and Sophomores.
