Raceland @ Paintsville 10/17
#31
Neither team lit up the Stat line in the first go around. Both teams were lead by their defenses, Paintsville took advantage of turnovers and field position. It truly is a game of inches, when these two meet up. Raceland, imo, looks alot like Paintsville did, the year they had the Belcher kid. A team with a lot of hope at the beginning of the year, that didn't hit their stride until the playoffs. I have a feeling this will be another nail biter. Neither team showed a helluva whole lot in round one. Weather shouls be great. Is it Friday yet?

I think the big factor in this game is Damon Black. In the Somerset and Portsmouth West games and in the first half against Paintsville in the regular season, he looked overwhelmed and skiddish in the pocket and his eyes were anywhere but down field when the pocket collapsed. Fast foward to the Russell game, Bishop, and in the 2nd half last week, he looks like a different QB. He is stepping up into the pocket again and when he does scramble, he is finding the recievers and doing a good job spreading the ball out. This will be the biggest game of his career to date and he is due a big time game. How he handles the pressure will determine our success. Hate to put all that in one kid, but it's a fact. Those quick outs will be there if Paintsville Loads the box again got to make those passes and tempo tempo tempo. We look 100% better when we stop waiting around to look at the defense. Too many times this year I have watched a defense be running guys on and off the field or lost in their scheme and we sit and wait for them to get set before the play gets called. Rams will also need to score first or get a stop and score. Momentum in these match ups are huge.

I agree. We have to take advantage of opportunities when they present themselves. As you said, the short passing game has been there and we have to take advantage of it especially if Paintsville loads the box. I know this is much easier said than done but Raceland has to get an early lead in this one and not let up. Paintsville is a team that thrives on momentum and too many times on the past few games of the series we have allowed their momentum to determine the outcome of the game. Paintsville is a loud and hostile environment which makes it a very hard place to play. In order to win this one Raceland has to control the tempo, limit big plays, and keep their crowd out of the game.

I figured it out orange blaze is Kirt herbstreet

If it rains. I'll take Paintsville and a running clock. If the weather is good. I'll take Paintsville and a running clock. The hard truth is that Paintsville is the best team Raceland has played all year. No chance.
#36
Disagree. No chance of a Running clock. Ashland may have something to say about who the best team on Raceland Schedule is as well.

How many transfers has paintsville got the last few years due to their success. I know we struggle at Raceland getting them and I’m not sure Why. If and when we did it was always middle school. I don’t care what people say, succefull programs will and should bring transfers in. I don’t see any problems with them. We did get a couple this year from Boyd county but they moved in district. I’m just curious. I’ve said it 100 times. If you live in our area and was wanting to be apart of a succefull Football program and have an actual chance to go deep in playoffs. Raceland would have to be your first choice, Russell and Greenup is usually done by 2nd round. Our test scores not too bad either.

:biglmao: :thatsfunn Raceland gets more transfers than any team in the area by far!!! & it was 3 this year from Boyd not 2.

I've never understood why people get so upset over transfers. it has always happened at successful programs. Its a fact of life. People want to be part of winning programs.

Maybe I should have said 2 that actually impacted the program this year. Most transfers, that funny...What you smoking.

It's getting that time of year again!! Only 2 days away from Raceland Basketball!!! That 2-3 week head start HAS to be beneficial!
#42
What's your thoughts on the matter RAMADEVIL?
#43
Who besides the Adkins kid came to Raceland.

I feel ya! We're now within 48 hours until another one of the infomous Paintsville Raceland Wars! Where's Those hyped up Lamb fans!?! This game thread a year ago was 12-13 pages deep by Friday!

We r are still here. Just realistic foe the most part. I stand by my Raceland upset prediction, as long as we continue the pace and tempo that we have found success with offensively. But, it won't come easy. The fact that we are where we are, after watching us sputter in the first half against West Carter early in the year, I'm shocked. If we can keep the pedal down for 4 quarters, from Coaching to execution, I feel confident we can be competitive with anyone in class A and if we had done that in our losses, we would be sitting at 8-2/9-1 right now and playing at Home Friday night instead of on the road. Then again, if "ifs and buts were candies and nuts....". But the die hard orange bleeders, like most of the posters on here, can still see each ram squad for what it's worth. As far as transfers go. It's a dead horse with no clout. It took a Raceland guy transferring to Greenup for them to find an offense. .lol had to throw Grizzle under the bus on that one lol. I have no issues with it as long as there aren't any busses going to pick them up out of district or job positions invited out of thin air, just to get a kids mom or dad a job. Lord let it go elsa.

Just some thought here.. Paintsville is 1-1 in close games. Raceland is 1-4. I'm
counting the Paris game because it took almost all 4 quarters to put some
numbers up.

Raceland has definitely came alive from the start of the season. I was a little concern for em last Friday by the half knowing they should not have been where they were against Paris even if they were at Paris. Finally they got their footing and never slipped again winning by a sound margin. I think Black is a better QB than most give credit. He's done a pretty solid job especially when asked to step in and fill Davidson's shoes! Webb does what Webb is always expected to do and Adkins has been really good! It'll be a great atmosphere no doubt! Both sides will be ready come Tomorrow Night!! Whoever strikes first will be a big advantage! Ram D started out Stout last matchup!

Russell is a successful program who actually has 2 state championships which is 2 more than Raceland has. I would have to disagree with you Russell will get things turned around. Russell is only 4 years removed from a state semifinal against none other than Belfry and If Raceland had to play a team the caliber of Belfry in the 2nd round and regional finals like Russell has had to recently Raceland would have been out of the playoffs just like Russell in the 2nd round or whenever they met Belfry.
To say Raceland is more successful than Russell is a joke.

I am pulling for Raceland but I think Paintsville wins the rematch.

Good Luck to Raceland.

Paintsville 34

Raceland 21

Paintsville thinks Raceland is a cakewalk next week they can come to Raceland and watch them play in the state semis

Let me simplify it even more:

Paintsville over Raceland by at least three TD's
Paintsville over Hazard by at least three TD's (If Pikeville beats Hazard it will be Paintsville over Pikeville by 4 TD's)
Pikeville will beat Beechwood by 2 TD's

Hopefully It'll be Paintsville beating Beechwood by 2 TD's!

So how come Paintsville don't beat Beechwood?

^^^^Yea that one took a bit of an odd turn at the end for me as well lol
#56
Meant Paintsville over Beechwood....Typo

Are the Golden Eagles allowing the Billy Goats to warm up across the creek? They are so gracious.

Where did melons go ? He hasn’t been on here for ever . Does his boy stil attend Paintsville
#59
We have to have success throwing the ball early to have a shot at winning the game.....just my opinion. offensive line has struggled all year but in their defense the box has been loaded against them all year. no secret as to what teams do to try to beat us. load the box and take away the run and make the QB beat you. its time to roll the dice and let the QB do his thing. if it works out on to the semi-finals. if it doesn't ....break out the basketballs.

Good to hear from you Ram-A-Devil, I agree you have to get those outside line backers at least worrying about the pass in the flats to keep them from crashing down on the run
