UPDATE
region 1 Mayfield vs Owensboro Catholic
region 2 DeSales vs Christian Academy-Louisville
region 3 Glasgow vs Monroe County
region 4 Danville vs Lexington Christian
#4
Danville!
#5
4 privates, 3 independents and 1 County school. Amazes me that some people do not know there is a difference between private schools and independents.
#6
This class is loaded.. I’m taking Danville to win it all this year though.
#7
I like DeSales over LCA in the finals.
#8
2A is beyond a doubt the most wide open class. All the normal suspects except New Cath.
#9
Well, you talk about some shockers. I remember just a few days ago, I mentioned how deep 2a was and mentioned Glasgow as one of those tough teams. An unnamed person, who tries to let everyone know that they more than someone else, mocked me for mentioning Glasgow. Now look, they are probably in the final four.

Mayfield over OC
DeSales over CAL
Glasgow over Monroe Co
Danville over LCA

Mayfield over DeSales
Danville over Glasgow

Mayfield over Danville comfortably

Quit with the independents. They hold absolutely no advantage over publics. They are publics. They are simply independent so they can't get absorbed into a county school.

Mayfield may very well come out on top, but in no way would I say comfortably. I hope these are the two that play for the championship and bring back the showdowns from the 1990's.

Thanks for explaining that for the uninformed 55. Independents have boundaries just like County schools. They are both Public schools. Danville and Mayfield are two longstanding traditional powerhouses in Kentucky football. They have both been winning games before Old Jacket was born.

These programs are in cities that are my type of cities. To understand what I mean you gotta know where I come from. My mom's family is from Texas. Being of a split family, I spent my share of time there. In Texas, the town pretty much shuts down on football Friday nights. Everyone is in the stands. Every parent takes their children and from the time they start talking, fathers are talking to their sons about when they played and when the son gets his chance. There are hometown restaurants where you can set and listen to talk about the upcoming game all day every day. The little kids at the schools look at the high school football players as though they are super heros. They local businesses donate meals and any other needed equipment to the program. This because they all want to feel as though they are a part of the program. That is what makes these schools successful. People in the local area will accuse them of recruiting or other illegal things. They don't have to do that. That is because, what kid wouldn't want to come there.

^It's been a long time since you've been to a game at Danville, I'm guessing. They haven't had packed houses at any of the games I've been to there (especially for teams not named Boyle Co.) since the late 90s. Maybe the buzz has changed this season, but they definitely haven't been carrying the active fanbase that a tradition like Danville deserves.

these two team might be there. I think the winner of Danville vs LCA will come out of the east. and if Mayfield win next week, they win the west, if Mayfield lose next week DeSales win the west.

Mayfield will not beat Danville

But I would love to see Monroe county go to state final
#17

Monroe seems to always have a good team, but I don't see them getting by Glasgow. Glasgow beat them by more than 3 TD's earlier in the season and Glasgow is still looking very strong.
#19
Can't wait to hear the east crow talk. The winner most definitely comes from the west for the 5th straight year. I suspect that this year, the west will show there is a large difference between the two sides.
#20
I second that opinion 55
#21
So much for flying under the radar lol
#22
Private schools from Northern Ky and Louisviile have dominated 2A in recent years. Mayfield has only been in 2A 3 years and won once so maybe they can change that trend.
#23
Mayfield over OC
DeSales over CAL
Glasgow over Monroe Co
Danville over LCA

I agree with these picks not sure about the state champ yet but, Desales or Cal has rude awakening when they come to play at our house, Its not all nice and fancy like they are used too and our team is nothing to shake a stick at Good luck everyone.
