Pikeville at Williamsburg Class A Region IV Semifinals

Something tells me over the next couple of weeks that 40pt first half average your so proud of, may drop! I know it's been awhile since Pikeville has been tested by anyone but the difficulty level does nothing but increase at this point! Hopefully the Panthers can pull this one out though!

Of course it's coming down. That's why I'm looking for the defense to make a statement Friday. Defense wins championships.

I'm going to listen to the game on the radio.
BTW this is a prediction thread. My prediction is 52-21, what's yours?

Do I expect that much on Hazard. Maybe not 300 but they could end up with 200 or close to it. Hell did you think Phelps would come close to beating Lynn Camp? I didn't but by god I was pulling for them!!

I don't really have a prediction. But if a healthy Battaile was playing and had been playing all season then I would guess a score similar to yours but along the lines of 42 to 27.

But I think these two teams about as evenly matched as you can be. I give the edge to Pikeville on running backs and lineplay and better run stopping. I give the edge to Williamsburg on quarterbacks and being at home. I think Receiver play and offenses are about the same.

Pikeville in my opinion needs to line up and run it down Williamsburg throat and dare them to stop it.

Williamsburg will need to run the ball some to be successful. Not sure who will do that besides the quarterback but they need to take the pressure off him so he doesn't end up injuried.

I agree bac2369, if Pikeville’s offense is on the field Williamsburg’s isn’t and that is by far the best defense. Pikeville is known for the big plays at least the last 4 games. It may come down to controlling the time and the game with some hard rushing first downs and containing a drive and finishing it.

We agree to disagree on the first one in general. On the second Pikeville's QB accounted for 6 TDs in the first half last week vs Harlan. On the third that will happen and W'burg ain't stopping it IMO. I think Pikeville is playing on a much higher level right now but we will see how things go, I've been wrong before...

Can't excuse losing your cool, but the Burg gets screwed by the playoff structure and the opening round bye. If Ponder sits in a typical 1-4 opening round matchup, he's back for this one.

Aren't suspensions for than 1 game?

Any chance it will be overturned by tommorow?

It’s game day Panthers get ready for some cold air and a trip to the Burg. Good luck and go get a win, love these Panthers. I have watched these young men grow all year. Play your game and do your job and all will workout.Go PANTHERS!!!!

Looking forward to this trip. I’ve never been to the Williamsburg stadium. How’s the seating on the visitor side? Parking?

My first trip there ,too. What I seen on watching film they don’t have much sitting on the visitors side and I always like to be up in the stands so I can see what is going on but their bleachers on the visitors side aren’t high enough to see over the players heads by much and very few of them and the parking I don’t know about. Have a safe trip down.

I was really wanting to make it down there for this game. I remember going to the last game these teams played in W'burg back in 1981 when I was a little kid. I remember liking the venue, seemed old school even way back then. I also remember Pikeville had to recover an onside kick to finally ice the game with a minute or so left and won something like 34-26 or so...

Good luck Panthers!

Pikeville is playing some good football now. A team a lot of people thought would be dangerous by playoff time. The offence is starting to click and defense is improving. I'm a little concerned about the pass defense, that is probably their weakest area. Most big plays against Pikeville has been long passes, but I believe the changes over the last few games will make a difference. Enjoy the ride to Williamsburg, this should be easy compared to Calloway County. With the cold weather, the ride to the game, the injuries to Williamsburg players and home field.

Pikeville 49
Williamsburg 28
