I have told them for a couple years now what the record would be, they have gone into hiding. They will come out in baseball season.

I've heard rumors that there isn't going to be a change of leadership in the Jacket Coaching staff. I was wondering if anybody else had heard that. Don't see how you can give him any more chances especially after the incident in Clay County.

The incedent at clay county was handled and the man who committed the act hasn’t been back to the school. That could have easily happened under Frazier or Roark, he has been around the program for a long time and that gave him a sense of belonging. It’s unfortunate he did what he did, but not fair to punish the coach for that situation. To comment on the first part of the post, who do you suggest middlesboro goes after? Who, with any kind of experience or solid resumé, would come into a situation where there are no jobs to hire assistants, and work in a community like middlesboro. Unless they are from here and just genuianally want to see the football program prosper, nobody in their right mind would take that job. If you fire Massengill, you better have a good replacement in mind or it’s only going to get worse.

Hate to see Middlesboro fall to this level. They were once one of the best programs in the mountains

Congratulations to Pburg and on to the next one

It’s a sad state of affairs, for sure. I have zero answers, but agree that change for the sake of change is unwise.

I will not get deep into it, who says you have to be from Middlesboro to want to win and succeed at your profession? Who says a great coach would not want the job? Most importantly how can it get worse than what it is right now? Not buying any of that, but he is safe the school board bought his safety in job status with the new superintendent and him accepting his job on the condition he doesn’t fire him. Looks like 110,000 dollars is enough to buy his job. I would hate to think I had to have some buy my job.

You don’t have to be from middlesboro to want to succesd at your profession, but if you want to succeed at your profession, chances are you wouldn’t want to be at middlesboro. If you know the culture at middlesboro you would know that it’s a very, very hard place to be successful at - at this point in time. The community is in shambles, there are no jobs, and what coach is going to take a job on a condition that you won’t be able to bring in any of your guys? Who wants to come into a job at a new place with people that don’t know their system and have to teach kids and coaches? It’s hard to be successful against those odds, but you have all the answers so maybe you should take the job.

RicFlair; The guy that was in involved in the Clay county incident is still at Middlesboros home games. Still walking the halls of Middlesboro high school and is in the locker room when the kids get picked up from games Friday night.. You have to get rid of zach. Even if no one will take it hire a teacher with good discipline would be much better then wht they have now... 9-34-1 in four years. With next year looking like a 2-10/ 1-9 year again... when the man that got fired for you went 8-4 his last year.. Massengil should have a little something to him and resign... But he will make excuses and complain that he can’t get any coaches hired. Place blame on the principal and everywhere but him. If not this year when is enough enough? How do u improve athletics when the kids don’t have faith in their playing for anymore? How can you let any other coach go that’s in the system. Sad time for the Jackets!!

How can it get worse? Some of the worse things imaginable has happened with this team in the last 4 years and not winning anything. Please explain what can get worse.

Over the years, various MHS factions certainly have managed to run off lots of head coaches more successful than their current one. I’ll grant you that.

The next coach can bring his whole staff, we have more jobs in the school system every year and any in State. Excuses I has been the common around here the last 4 years. Everyone has one!
