Coaching Changes for Next Year in the 15th Region
#1
I know there have been many posts about these rumors. Now that the Regional Boys is decided is there any good information about possible coaching changes for next year.
#2
                                RUMOUR HAS IT
I Reckon , from what I here , Doe-Doe Rowe , in appreciation for his recent  Shelby Valley Hall of Fame  induction (For being the fastest Ass. Coach from Pike Co.to recruit a cousin from Floyd Co. ,and ironically ,still lose the Regional Tournament to the team that cuz was recruited from.  ) , was awarded the head coaching job at June Buchannon School .
The Stepp boys , in retaliation , did what they do best ,............
                      SHOT EVERYTHING ALL TO HELL!!!!
Brother Rodney got mad and demanded credit for everything that all the aforementioned had attained , but humbly stated that he couldn't have done it without there help.

This will start a lot of rumors, but I have heard that BMR is done with basketball.

Rumors can get you in a lot of trouble. Where have you heard this rumor from? I don't see BMR leaving though.

Like is said it's just a rumor, that's what this thread is going to get you.

-15th Coaching rumor mill-
*BMR will stay as long as Landon Slone does, but will resign as football coach to concentrate 100% on basketball again
*Mark Starnes will leave JC to be an assistant at Morehead St. if Kelly Wells gets that job.
*After Starnes leaves, JC will go after Bart Williams, a former Eagle, but Williams might decide to be assistant for his good friend Keith Adkins at Pikeville College instead, because he is a former Bear too.
*Randy Casey will join Starnes at Morehead and be assistant for his long time friend Kelly Wells.
*Raymond Justice will leave Letcher Cent. and return to Belfry.
*Denny Paul May will hold off challenges for his job from Randy McCoy.
*Jason Booher will hold off the Newsome boys from Virgie, because he did a great job for the second year in a "Rowe".
*Johnny Martin will hold on at AC and leave someday on his own terms.
*David Rowe will hang'em up and the Thompson boy will take over.
*Brent Rose will hang his whistle up too for administration.
*Hammonds at SC will be forced out which is a bad move on their part.

This would be a great reality show!!!  These are just rumors....but you have to agree that they all make sense.....don't you???

Cool Post, but this is how I see it, remember its just my opinion

Bill Mike isn't going anywhere
Don't know about Starnes
If Bart Williams ever does leave Pikeville it would be for JC
I can't see Randy Casey leaving Belfry
Raymond Justice will stay at LC
I heard for a long time that Thompson will take over PC when Rowe leaves
Randy McCoy back on the HS level ????  I thought he was seriously ill ???
Booher will be back at SV
Johnny Martin will be back ---- and deservingly so !!!
Brent rose won't be back and Harold Tackett will take over
I agree Hammonds will be forced out at SC
#8
Coach Casey is going no where
Coach Justice is going no where
Coach May is going no where

The rest looks extremly possible
#9
This will be a very interesting off-season
#10
[move][/move]Yeah i would have to say David Rowe is finishedmove[/move]

this was his year and the boys did not perform has had a GREAT term at Pike Central...Good luck coach Rowe on what ever you do i appreciate everything you have done for me, my family and the school of Pike Central you are a great man

YOU GUYS ARE CRAZY IF YOU THINK STARNS IS GOING ANYWHERE! HE HAS BEEN HEAD COACH FOR A YEAR AND JUST GOT A REGIONAL TITLE. HE'S JUST NOW GETTING A TRUE SENSE OF WHAT KIND OF FAN SUPPORT HE REALLY HAS!
#12
Starnes and Wells don't have that good of a relationship do they? Didn't Starnes not coach the last season Wells was at Mason County? I was thinking there was something between them, maybe not.
#13
Coach Denny Paul May is a good basketball coach and deserves to stay at East Ridge. He had some great wins this year. The first year at a school is always the toughest and he will do much better next year as coach. I think he needs to get his feet on the ground and you will see a lot of improvement at East Ridge next year.
Certainly the person mentioned to take his place would not be a good fit. I think the administration has more intelligence than that.
Let Coach May have some time and he will have a good program.
#14
Coach Starns isn't going anywhere....this as per his wife....

They plan to be here for a long time.

Sorry to burst your bubbles!

Go Eagles!
#15
BMR- stays right where he is!!!
Starns- He is the coach of the year in the 15th and maybe the STATE!!! (HE IS AT JC FOR A WHILE)
Hammonds-I hope they help him pack his stuff up and I will buy him a "ONE-WAY" ticket to ALASKA to coach!!!
Martin-Stays at AC.(THIS WILL BE HIS FAREWELL SEASON)

THIS IS MY OPINION ON THESE POSSIBLE RUMORS!!!!!!
#16
Sure he is coach of the year and had a great year.  But every coach who has a heart for coaching is wanting to work his way up to teh big time.  So, no matter where his fan base and loyalty is, money and fame normally prevail. Rolleyes

ATTENTION JCHS BASKETBALL PLAYERS:

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE RUMORS POSTED ON HERE REGARDING YOUR COACH. THESE PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO STIR THINGS UP AND GET INSIDE YOUR HEADS SO THAT YOU DON'T DO WELL AT STATE.  IGNORE THEM AND GO KICK BUTT!!

What???  That is the craziest statement ever!!!  By the way if JC players are reading this, then that is their first  mistake.  Coaches and players should never read this.  Most of them don't. This site is just for us know-it-all parents and fans!!

Earlier Post: *Jason Booher will hold off the Newsome boys from Virgie, because he did a great job for the second year in a "Rowe".

Whats the deal with the newsome boys at shelby valley.
#20
OK....

1.  Shelby Valley needs a new coach but I don't know if the Newsome boys have the pull to remove Booher.

2.  East Ridge doesn't need  at the helm.  By the way everyone knows he didn't leave because of health reasons.  May is fine just a transition year.  Plus he has a solid staff...by the way who is this coach form LA he has coaching the freshman team??? Confusedhh:

3.  Paintsville BMR will be there as long as he wants.

4.  S.C. new coach next year wait and see

5.  As far as Starns moving up to NCAA maybe... but I don't think Bart would leave Pikeville.

Coach Starns has been about as big time as they get.  He was an assistant coach under Pitino for the Boston Celtics.  Perhaps there are coaches out there who coach simply because they love the game and the boys.  Coach Starns is not leaving Central.  He'll be right back there next year working his boys to another shot at the regional title.

The Newsome boys are not that great, Taylor/ Bacon is alot better than Greg's boy Tyler. But still has along way to go before he's great in highschool. Tyler is not a basketball player at all. Hatfield is the only player on Virgie's team worth agruing about. He does have a tremendous amount of potential.
HAHAHAHAH that's hillarious, yea I agree Jason Booher is a great coach considering he never coached a team with a winning record, untill he got to Valley where any coach should at least have a winning season at least.
#23
Didn't Tyler get MVP of the county tournament?

?????????

Great post NEXT!!  I would say you are 100% correct on all three of those coaches!!
#26
I hope that SC does what needs to have been done 8 years ago, toss Hammonds. He is not a good coach, he doesnt have any idea of what is going on. SC should have been to state at least 2 times in the past 4 years but they cannot do it. The boys on the team are all great ball players but the coach is crap.              Confusedurrender:

Since this is nonsense anyways:

Starns to louisville - God knows Ricky needs him, or anyone!!
Rodney Rowe to East Ridge - Wouldn't that put a wrench in things in Pike Co.?
Booher to Pikeville - might as well follow the one's leaving?
Williams to JC - leave a job that he has turned around in one season to the defending champs (SMART DECISION?)
Runyon retires - too many parents calling (you don't deserve this BMR)
Pelphrey to return to Paintsville - Earning a NCAA bid has finally validated the return of the chosen one.

This is just a funny reply. I hope noone takes me serious. I wish all the coaches well, and wish you all the luck next year!!(Wherever you turn up)

He'd be better off staying right where he is if he wants to continue success. I understand wanting to move up the latter but Morehead State would be a step down. The program lacks funding and support and draws very few crowds in their gym. Recruiting will continue to be terrible there also.

I'm sorry but thats hilarious..
Don't get me wrong, DPM knows his basketball, but he just dont have the click it takes to coach a team, if anyone deserves a head spot on the team that is already a part of the ERHS Basketball Staff, it should be Coach Mercer, he has what it takes, the know how, and the cooperation with the kids to know how to coach the team.
