Nothing surprises me anymore. Administration will down play and sweep it under the rug again and again and again.

Sad situation for a once dandy football program!
06-28-2017, 01:58 AM
Very sad..I haven't heard what the "news" is but it could be anything...I have been a proponent for this program and I have tried to see the positives in things but it seems like I am spinning my wheels. Not hard to see why we lost good players and coaches the last few years.

I'd like to see Middleboro be a 2A state power.
They have that ability. They've never been much different then Corbin in terms of talent.
Just need the right choices done.

I think we do have that ability, especially while Bell was struggling. Going to be very hard now with the old man back on hill. He is going to us all of this to grab what he can.
06-28-2017, 04:21 AM
Completely disagree with that...No doubt Middlesboro has underachieved lately, even all the way back to the Frazier years. But there is no way that Middlesboro has the talent to be a 2A state power. I mean that's not hard to see. If you want to know the difference between middlesboro and Corbin as far as talent all you gotta do is look at the trenches. Their O line and D line would wipe us out in any of the last 5-6 years. Teams with that type of talent would win more than a 1 or 2 games don't care who's coaching them.
06-28-2017, 05:48 AM
Middlesboro is nowhere close to Corbin as far talent and hasn't been for 15 years or so. You can see that by watching middle school football. They haven't been as good as some of the Class A teams lately. I've said a dozen times or more they haven't underachieved at all the last three years. They were going to be bad, no matter who was coaching.

Coaching change is needed quickly. Super is not aware of some of the things going on. Their is a drug problem in the locker room. A player last year was caught smoking weed on school property during school hours. Was caught on a Wednesday suspended from school Thursday- Wednesday. Was in full practice gear and was participating in practice. Rule violation #1 Coach Massengil set him out 1 game during his school suspension. The next week he didn't return to school until Thursday and started both ways the next day. Kids everyday are is ISS and are practicing School rule #2 broken. If any other sport would of tried that the coach would of been fired or in big trouble. Now the next year a different kid gets a DUI for being high on weed and trying to get it swept under the rug. As a player for both of the last 2 coaches everyone wants to complain about Fraizer's discipline. Massengil's is worse then Fraizer ever dreamed of being. Fraizer just didn't have any help covering it up.
06-28-2017, 02:29 PM
Super is well aware of all that goes on. He is apart of the problem. He is direct contact with the coach, the principal will not handle any discipline. Assistant principal to superintendent and then back to coach as to what to do. You have just scratched the surface as to what all has happened. It is a no win at this point.

I think they were looking to situation and not talent as much. City school in a town that does fairly well. Some very good athletes, just not as many maybe.

There were a couple of years the Middlesboro junior high team didn't have as much talent as Evarts, Harlan, W-burg, Cumberland. They had a few athletes but not football players. It has picked up the last couple of years, so I'd imagine the high school team should improve.
06-29-2017, 05:56 PM
Words like sad, terrible, shocking news has been used on this site, but you've not said one thing to make me think that Coach Massengill or any of the coaches are not doing everything in their power to get Program in right direction. Every program and school has a drug issue and if you think different you need to get your head out of the sand!
06-29-2017, 08:27 PM
3 drug arrest, 1 assault , 1 theft not to mention 2 drug situations on school activity. Not many others have that. But who is counting, not administration or coaches.

I was reading through this and was wondering if the school did anything to the kids. It's not the coach who should do this, lawsuit from a kid if a coach suspended a kid for stuff a school or police didn't for these things. It would also break confidentiality by exposing who it was since everyone would know who it was

Just asking a question, would Phillip Haywood and Chuck Smith or for that matter who would continue to let them be n an athletic team. Does anyone have team rules anymore?

Next Gen, from reading along here for awhile you obviously have a very deep and personal axe to grind. I don't know how or in what capacity you feel you or you child/family member was done wrong by the M'boro school system or those in charge, but it's obviously very personal. Good luck with that, keep drinking the Mountain Dew and hitting the keyboard, I promise it will solve all your problems.
#1, there isn't a kid on the football team that has been charged with assault. FACT.
#2, have 1-3 kids on the entire team of 35-40 had some form of an issue with Marijuana, yes. Name a school in Ky that kids aren't Messing with that stuff in their free time. If you stripped every Ky state championship team that had a contributing athlete on the roster using Marijuana in free time, this state wouldn't have a champion dating back to probably 1922. FACT.
#3, should folks in M'boro be displeased with two back-to-back one win seasons, absolutely. So is everyone around the program. Is it because of this complete lack of discipline that you rage on day, after day, after day about, no. It's because Middlesboro is one of the smallest, if not the smallest 2A schools in one of the most competitive districts in the entire state. The past two years, the jackets have been playing freshman and sophomores with classes of 5 and 6 seniors. All small school go through "down" cycles just like HCH noted. Those youngins are now experienced juniors and seniors.... you better be careful because this team may come out and shut you up and you won't have anything to grind that personal axe of yours against.

I say it depends on how good they are or how much depth they have.

Tri-State Fan- Say what you want but Massengil has ZERO discipline. FACT
He has had 2 on school property or school trips (football camp) caught with Weed and neither was removed from the team nor suspended more then 1 game. FACT
First year Massengil got the job wasted a bunch of money to go to football camp at Campbellsville with his pals and Illegaly scrimmage FACT
Massengil isin't worried about kids grades just make sure they can play Friday. And has let ineligible kids play. FACT
Have a Qb/Wr that goes to school when he wants after football missed several days of school and nothing happens to him. FACT
I don't feel unless you lived it and went to school and played under the coaches that you really know what's going on! Not that I'm out of school I want people to know.

So Next Gen & Truth Hurts are the same butt-hurt person. Kinda figured that from the start. Keep grinding that axe pal. Pretty pitiful when you're so sour that you have to post the same crap from two different handles. God Bless you, I hope Middlesboro is never ever again successful so you can pound your chest and say I told you so. I can only hope you never wore the black and gold, because it's obvious you are not a fan in any sense of the word.

I don't know Coach Smith but I hope you're not implying that Coach Heywood would let something like this go just because of where one of his players are on the depth chart. If you are then you're badly mistaken! He hasn't built the program that he has at Belfry by letting kids break these kinds of rules. People shouldn't talk about things that they have no idea of what their talking about. I can promise you, if Coach Heywood found out ANY of his players were doing something illegal or using drugs that his depth chart would be the farthest thing from his mind.

Could not be farther from the truth. I graduated from here and wear it proudly. You come over here for six months and think you know what is going on. We are going to use the excuse we are a small school, we have always been small. We have played Class A and AA. Never stopped us back in the day. We don't use the Claiborne Co. , Cumberland Gap excuses. Don't come over here and start. If more people would not settle we would not be in the shape we are in now. Just wondering how long will this go on? Past time for changes. You will see the light soon enough. Most have as they realize this is not going to get better. We are getting beat by bad class A teams. You will see.
The kid was sent off for a week or so ,back in team and then got hurt and quit. This was
Year two when my son played. Before your time. This has been going on for a while. So your facts are not facts.

Tri State will figure it out soon enough.

Not as simple as some think. There has to be 100% proof before a coach can remove a kid from a team nowadays. And that being the case there would be a violation of school rules occurring and therefore it should be out of the coaches hands at that point to make that call in those extremes. Now if there are major school rules not being enforced then there is a bigger issue than football going on. Just my two cents, I personally haven't got a clue what's going on with Middlesboro or the coaches etc.
07-01-2017, 02:31 PM
So we're dealing with:
A) a butthurt football parent with an axe to grind (we know how rational they can be) and...
B) a butthurt former player looking to blame the coach for his shortcomings
That's really all I need to know. ✌️

And dealing with the facts of what is going on. Doesn't matter who is butt hurt, just forget the facts of what is happening and being overlook? Makes perfect sense. You are right I DO NOT think that these are the people to lead this system and football program. Facts are facts. Find 1 thing that is a positive with this football program.
Just curious, are you saying I am lying about it or you think that this is ok and normal?

The other was caught red handed on the school parking lot was suspended from school but still practiced everyday and sat out 1 game. I was on the team I'm telling you 100% facts...
