Starting this year, the state finals will be held in Lexington at Commonwealth Stadium.
Or whatever it's being called now.

Kroger Field BABY!!!!

That's where it should be, and should stay..

I always thought WKU was a great spot for the finals, but since they can't guarantee a normal schedule I think this is smart choice.
And from a personal stand point, I think there is better food available in Lexington than Bowling Green.

Better all around. Nothing against WKU but Lexington or Louisville are more centrally located with more hotels, restaurants, etc.
Was this approved today?

The 2017 and 2018 KHSAA state football finals will be played at UK's Kroger Field, the board voted today. WKU had hosted from 2009-2016.

All but THIS
What's the award BG has.....more restaurants per capita than any town/city in America. It's not Lex population wise, but still. BG, KY...best town in the state.
However, I can definitely dig the games being moved to Commonwealth (I'll be treating Kroger/Commonwealth like 1-AA.....it's not Division 1 FCS, it's 1-AA and 1-A.)

More doesn't always equal better, though. Some of my favorite places to eat are in Lexington. I mean, I think they have multiple White Castle's.

I said several years ago when Lexington got Championships it would be the largest attendance. Guess we'll see.

I LOVED the venue in Bowling Green. Had a parking spot all picked out so I wouldn't have to walk very far. That being said, this will cut my drive time by half, I know ALL the great places to eat and I have family there.
So yayyyyy!!!!

Lol. Scottvegas Road
BG Food=/>Lex Food
Games? This was needed; if nothing more than to try it out. I can put my BG/WKU bias aside for that.

I'm so excited! No more hotel rooms for us Granny!
2.5 hours from Belfry, 5 mins away from my house!
Lexington's Food Game has came along way even since I've been down here. Plus lots to do for the kiddos and adults alike if ya come down early. A brand new indoor go kart track, two now in Lexington plus Chuck-e-cheese and Gatti-Land. There is tons of free parking and you don't need to walk 3-5 blocks or take shuttles to the stadium. Plus there's no worry about C-USA Games delaying Saturdays games until Sunday as has been the case the last couple of years. Lots of Shopping including Fayette Mall, Hamburg Pavilion and The Summit at Fritz Farm. And the shining star...CHEESECAKE FACTORY! which is a short 5-7 minutes away from The stadium.

Loved hearing this news. That drive from far eastern (as far as you could go) Kentucky has bout killed me the last 4 years. Lol.

Oh thank God.
I was hoping this would happen once they switched to turf.
So excited this has moved to Lex. The first true neutral location.

I thought WKU had a contract signed through 2019?
Regardless, this is awesome. I do believe the attendance will be much higher for all the games.

Unless a Lexington school makes it, this is about as "Neutral" as you can get in the state.
The attendance from Eastern Kentucky schools should double at least if not more.

I'm so excited about the news! Can't wait till December! Especially if the Redhounds are playing!

Wow! A great and sensible and fair move, finally!

Love it...hahaha..let the whinning begin from the ones in the west. Lol

The other message board is in meltdown mode because of the move. For the first time in 41 years the finals will be held east of Louisville. They've had it made and have no room to complain. They feel so sorry for WKU to lose the finals. But, they have made it difficult on themselves disrupting the Finals Weekend for the last 2 seasons moving Saturday games to Sunday forcing fans that have arrived early scrambling for another hotel or fans that were driving down the same day, make alternate plans or not even go.
I have no doubt that the attendance will get much better. Also being in Lexington, the more casual football fan will be more inclined to attend as well.

I don't think you'll hear much from them to be quite honest.

I'm not sure about that. I've never had trouble finding good food in Bowling Green .

This is surprising. I thought Bowling Green still had the contract. I bet 55 is whining and crying in his near beer.

Ive been traveling to lexington to watch basketball since the 80's for the finals why complain now. I was always just happy when my team had the opportunity to play on the big stage. Never understood why yall out east complained so much, i can't speak for some out west that might complain now, but i wont. Id go to Belfry to watch the finals. Im kinda lookin forward to a change of scenery, but i think it will be hard to top WKU i thought it was a good atmosphere, but maybe UK will be too. Cant blame them for moving it after the scheduling issues the last 2 years.
