Best night of basketball in 15th region history
#31
The wikipedia page says 7,000 for concerts and 5,700 for sporting events.

I'm bored cause I'm off work today, so I called the Expo myself and spoke with the general manager. Her exact number of available seats was 5,279. She also explained to me that the reason for only one concession stand was that the 15th Region officials told them the expectancy for Saturday's attendance would be around 2,500.

I've been called Pulp Fiction more than my real name this week at the Expo.

Met a few members and people who read the site regularly. Some people have been nice and say they enjoy the site, others have had some not-so-nice words for me. One would say I deserve it both ways sometimes.... guess it depends on your perspective.

Getting to put my handsome face with the posts I make on here has made a lot of peoples week. Big Grin

But for real though, I enjoy all high school sports. Everybody knows my team is JC, but if JC isn't in it, I will always support any 15th region teams in any sport. I try (I know I don't always succeed) in having some entertaining value (Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan is my idol) in the posts I make. So if you read something that sounds like a professional wrestling promo, chances are, that's what I'm trying to do.... make JC sound like the best thing on earth and make it seem like other team plays for satan. I promise you, it's all in fun.
Most of the people who know me away from the site know, for the most-part, I'm the same way in person. I know that's hard to believe, but I'm this awesome all the time Big Grin

So I apparently misspoke. Was going by what I was told years ago and just didn't bother checking it. Thanks for clearing it up

It happens, no big deal, trust me I've done that myself countless times on this site.

I haven't been to a sporting event at the Expo Center in 5 years or so but personally I've always liked the venue. I think it's the ideal place for the 15th Region Tournament and hope it continues to be the permanent host for the boys and girls tournament.

I know it's not sports related but I'm really looking forward to the Chris Stapleton concert that is scheduled for the Friday night and Saturday night of Hillbilly Days next month. I assume there are still tickets left to both shows but the Expo Center will be rocking on those two nights...might be as loud in there those two nights since the Expo Center opened 15 or so years ago. Heck half of Johnson County may be there to welcome one of their favorite sons home lol.

Redneck Wrote:7,500 in attendance? There are only 6,675 tickets available for the Chris Stapleton concert in April, and that's including 1,400 seats on the floor. Explain to me how there were 7,500 at a high school basketball game when the actual capacity is only around 5,200

I remember it being announced during the game, and then everyone talking about it the next day, that it had broken the attendance record, even tho the expo was only a few years old at the time. I'll agree the capacity isn't even close to 10,000 but it did hold 7,500 for that game.

"FINAL in front of record 15th Region crowd of 5,340."

That's the first post in the thread Paintsville - 79 Shelby Valley - 70 2OT

The arena hasn't gotten any smaller since then. There were the same amount of seats then. 5,279 seating capacity. 5,340 total attendance including media personnel, sponsors, 15th region personnel down on the floor, I believe that.
