14th Region Draw
#31
Top bracket won't be easy for perry. Breathitt had them down like 14 at half last game. But everybody thanks perry is a shoe in for sweet 16. Why even play the region tournament.
#32
I will say this Perry is the best team but anything can happen on a given night. 4-5 teams in this tournament can beat Perry on a given night.

LCC
PCC

ESTILL
WOLFE

PERRY
WOLFE

PERRY CHAMPS

Who do you think is going to win?
#34
Perry is team to beat but that is why they play the game. A person never knows who will win. The best team don't always win the championship. Look when Kentucky was 38-0 the best team but they didn't win the championship. Don't count out letcher with carter on a neutral court.
#35
Breathitt's gym isn't a great shooting gym for players that aren't used to playing there. It's very open with the doom and the deep backdrops.
#36
I would genuinely support PCC if they didn't have 3 recruits playing. These fans want to act like them boys were raised right there in Combs. It's an absolute disgrace that they are even in the regional tournament. You people can try and justify recruiting all you want. It really shows how weak of a program PCC really is, considering they're one of the biggest schools in the mountains but can't win with their own kids.

I really can't see u ever supporting Perry with some of the comments u have put on here! Perry has taken their lumps lately and have more than their share of detractors on here but in the end they are all kids who play for them and every other team and comments hurt! Peace be among us! Brother Cecil.

Three coaches, several recruits, and a few "Semi-Final Bound" seasons later, PCC might actually win the region... But, in 20 years who will ever talk about PCC winning the 2017 regional tournament with recruits? Buckhorn upsetting the unbeatable PCC team with bunch of local kids that put everything they had into the program and their community will always overshadow a PCC regional championship with out of state kids.

No, I only comment about PCC because they would rather recruit like a college program than build a good program with their own kids. With none of the recruits, I would definitely support PCC if they go to Rupp.
#40
A lot of people on here are talking as if Perry is a lock and they are far from it! Knott has an excellent team and have a clearer path to the finals than Perry. After Perry's play last year it is easy to see that in one game there are no locks! Several teams could win this and talk of one going to the state semis when they haven't played the first round games are premature! Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.
#41
Its will be a good tournament never count out no one! Perry will have to win 3 games that will all be close. Knott will have to win a hard first round game. Letcher to me the most dangerous and playing as good as anyone.
#42
They be a lot of Home Cooking going on in Jackson
#43
What is the latest on the PCC inquiry?

The Knott-Wolfe game could be the best game in a great 1st round.
#45
Knott will have all they can handle from Wolfe. They'll be lucky to win that game. Wolfe is healthy again and have all their players, and it took an overtime for Knott to beat them earlier in the season.

You could go back and look at all my posts and see that the negativity is all towards recruits and recruiting. How could any true PCC fan support a bunch bringing in a bunch of recruits when they could win with the kids they have? I will never understand that logic. Don't even try to say "those kids weren't recruited." Seriously, you really think a kid from another state just gets up one day and decides to move to a rural EKY town? Like I said, if PCC didn't recruit, I wouldn't grind my ax on them. I completely stand by that statement.
#48
Can you define for all of us idiots what a "true" PCC fan is?
I don't remember anyone getting up in arms when Cordia's team was full of transfers when I was in school. The only reason people get tore up about transfers is when they are good.

Where was the outrage last year when these kids were in Knott County playing with blue jerseys on? It didn't matter to anyone then because they weren't beating teams and they were taking someone else's playing time.

This ain't about "recruiting." This is the same ol' Perry Central hate that we've been hearing for years.
#49
I think all of the first round games will be dandy's. Letcher Central defeated Powell County twice during the regular season, 72-61 and 78-70....Perry defeated Breathitt by 9 at Breathitt just a few weeks ago...Estill defeated Buckhorn 67-50 and Knott escaped Wolfe with an 92-87 overtime win earlier in the season...

It's postseason play, anything can happen....Heck, we've already seen Dunbar lose and several other upsets that weren't suppose to happen, that happened....

People, Zaga is an admitted Perry Central graduate and WYMT sports department employee. He obviously has zero problem with the way they run their program. There is no use in trying to argue or attempt to sway him to be against it.
Peace be among us. Brother Huggy.

I do not work in the sports department at WYMT. Never have, never will. Not that it has anything to do with how I feel about Perry Central basketball.

All I've ever said is I've never seen any proof of wrongdoing and the fact that kids want to play ball at PCC and go to school there shouldn't be an automatic assumption of wrongdoing. If someone proves the coaches or administration are doing anything fishy, fire them, run them out of town and take away any wins involved with it. That seems fair to me and I don't see how that isn't a respectable position with most of the folks on here.

I see I'm going to have to take another break from these spirited discussions since my job and personal life are back in the crosshairs again.

You guys have fun.

Thank goodness for charter schools next year that should end all of this recruitment talked. Anybody can take their voucher and go to any school they want too. :lmao:

I believe a true fan of any team is someone who supports their community kids. If a team like Buckhorn were to bring in a bunch of recruits, their fans would not take too kindly to it. Actually many PCC fans don't like what they are doing either. Cordia fans at least openly admits they recruit instead of beating around the bush and acting like them boys were raised in Lotts Creek. I have seen so many PCC fans on here trying to justify the recruiting and make it seem as is if it is not happening.

Oh I forgot I'm against charter schools. Confusederiously:

The Perry/breathitt game will be the best in my opinion. One. Because breathitt is a pretty good team and second is the 15th region refs always and will call against perry so perry will have to be up 30 points in the 4th to get away with a win.
#57
I think Estill got the best draw they could have hoped for. In my opinion, They are playing as well as anyone in the region. Pretty much man handled Powell for the most part on friday night, a few slip ups, but a dominant performance. Bonny did his usual thing, coming up with 30 points, and the Benton kid played amazing. Dropping in 23 huge points and shot the ball well. This kid is just a Freshman and is going to be dangerous for years to come. Estill will be a tough out. Ill take the engineers against Perry in the finals with Perry taking it home. Should be a great region tournament. Good luck to all teams!
#58
The PerryBreathitt game has to be the toughest First Round game. Perry playing Breathitt on their home floor was a tough draw, especially after Breathitt having them down 14 late in the 4th quarter a couple weeks ago. Looking forward to this matchup, Breathitt and Coach Amis definitely have something to prove after not playing well in the 55th District final. Should be a great one.
